WASHINGTON –Sen. John Cornyn has hired a prominent tea party organizer, Brendan Steinhauser, as his campaign manager. It’s a smart pick for Cornyn, who’ll seek his third term next year. As former director of campaigns at FreedomWorks, Steinhauser brings sterling tea party credentials. He organized 30 events for Ted Cruz’s insurgent Senate campaign last year. And he led grassroots efforts that helped elect other partiers, Sens. Marco Rubio of Florida, Mike Lee of Utah, and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania.
