Fellow Freepers, I'm beyond happy that the AW ban has died the miserable death it deserved. But I am not satisfied. We need to take the offensive and begin deconstructing our national gun control laws. I propose what I think would be a simple yet devestating move on this front. The most repugnant part of the 1968 GCA is the sporting purpose clause which gives the ATF quite a bit of power. I think we have a good chance of getting those two words struck from that law. While National Rifle Association officials have been denying that they've been orchestrating a sellout in the U.S. Senate, Sen. Larry Craig (R-ID) -- an NRA Director -- has been working on an ammunition ban. On the Senate floor today, he introduced, discussed, defended and tried to justify the "Craig/Frist" amendment.
