I’ve been to Amsterdam and the revolution is a lie. Troubled by the Netherlands failed social experiment on teenagers, however, the Soros-backed Cato Institute and other Woodstock libertarians have been singing the praises of socialist Portugal’s soft-on-drug ethos, and hoping to hell we wouldn’t ask too many critical-thinking questions. The faithful still claim that crime in Portugal has gone done since their nation went soft on drugs. But what’s gone down is their economy, an economic basket case. Moreover, the Portuguese have a history of fiddling with crime statistics. Or to quote my local newspaper: A Melbourne woman was murdered...

The Media Research Center’s Dan Gainor has been digging up the dirt on the deep-pocketed lefty media mogul George Soros’ funding of media operations, and Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly invited him on to discuss Gainor's latest piece in which he says there are ‘nearly 30 Soros-funded media operations that are part of the ‘War on Fox’.” O’Reilly asked Gainor’s opinion on the most important media operation that Soros funds. “I would say that’s probably Think Progress,” Gainor told O’Reilly. “It’s part of the Center for American Progress.

House Republicans continue to question how the Federal Communications Commission developed and passed rules designed to prevent anticompetitive behavior online. Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn., criticized what she called "collusion" between the FCC and the advocacy group Free Press on Friday. On Thursday the conservative group Judicial Watch released emails between Free Press employees and Democratic FCC Commissioner Michael Copps and his staff. "I am deeply disturbed by the revelations of collusion between the FCC and Free Press on the net-neutrality issue. The FCC has moved against the will of the people, the wisdom of Congress, and the order of the...

It has been three years since the first exclamatory sentences were deployed and grammatically challenged Twitter invectives unleashed in the epic conflagration between Sarah Palin and the "lamestream" media. You'll never guess who's winning the war. Judge for yourselves: On one side, the news business continues its dreary decline. Papers have folded. Reporters face mass layoffs. Even Palin's 2008 nemesis, Katie Couric, has abandoned her once coveted anchor desk to again show viewers how to jazz up their sex life, wear figure-flattering swimsuits, and make the world's yummiest blueberry pie. Meanwhile the Alaska governor has become rich, relevant, ravenously read,...

Last night Michael discussed a 16 page article on a Soros funded group (ICC) or something like it. It was involved in the rebellion in Egypt and had as board members Sandy Berger, Wesley Clark, Coffi Annan, etc. He said he would post the link to it on his website but I don't see it. Can anybody come up with the link or some info I can use to track it down?
  • Who funds the electronic frontier foundation?

The above link goes to their most recent annual report, 2008/2009. In it is a rundown of their funding. Their biggest funding sources are this, in this order: 1: Foundation grants 2: Membership income 3: Individual Major Contributions The foundations are by far the easiest to track. As you look through the list of foundations on page two, most of you will immediately notice that the Open Society Institute is on that list, and most of you know that that's George Soros. As I've catalogged elsewhere, he gave them 300 large in one year. Unlisted on eff.org but accessible via...

Someone alert Glenn Beck. Last year NPR announced that it was accepting $1.8 million from the Open Society Foundations, which you likely know is funded by George Soros. The money is being used to fund a local-national initiative, known as the Impact on Government project. According to NPR the plan is to have two public radio reporters in every state keeping tabs on state government issues. So far, so good? Not really. The NPR newsroom was apparently less than thrilled that NPR had accepted Soros money.

George Soros, the hedge fund investor who called gold "the ultimate bubble", has sold almost his entire holding of the precious metal, leading to fears that the price is about to fall. George Soros sold most of his gold ETF holdings but bought shares in two mining companies Photo: Bloomberg News. The investor, famous for his £10bn bet against the Bank of England in 1992, made his "ultimate bubble" remark in January last year but acted to cut his holding only in the first quarter of this year. Holding on has proved hugely profitable – in January 2010 gold was...

It's a scene journalists dream about - a group of coworkers toasting a Pulitzer Prize. For the team at investigative start-up ProPublica, it was the second time their fellow professionals recognized their work for journalism's top honor. For George Soros and ProPublica's other liberal backers, it was again proof that a strategy of funding journalism was a powerful way to influence the American public. It's a strategy that Soros has been deploying extensively in media both in the United States and abroad. Since 2003, Soros has spent more than $48 million funding media properties, including the infrastructure of news -...

[VIDEO AT SOURCE] The good news is they continue to profess their love of free speech and the first amendment as their signing the petition that would silence people they don't agree with! Please don't confuse this petition with the Soros-funded group Media Matters for America. That group has their own speech-stifling campaign going. It's totally different than this one. Also, to be fair, this video contains several edits. We know that there are some cracker-jack websites on the left and the "right" who hold the TRUTH up as their highest standard. The Media Research Center Vice President for Business and Culture Dan Gainor appeared on “Fox & Friends” May 20, to discuss George Soros’s spending over $48 million to fund media organizations. “He’s funded the entire underpinnings of America journalism. Here’s a guy who threw $600,000 at the Columbia School of Journalism, probably the most famous name for a school of journalism in the country,” Gainor told Steve Doocy. During the segment, Gainor discussed Soros’s impact on the media, which is part of an upcoming report by the Media Research Centers Business & Media Institute. He explained the wide range of...

But, then, he announced, "I sold my spooky dude shares of Petrobras" and he was out. So, it's totally cool. Everybody can relax. There's nothing to see here, people. Billionaire investment manager George Soros built on his position in Brazilian oil and gas company Petrobras in the first quarter of 2011 for his Soros Fund Management firm, according to the guru watchers over at Guru Focus.com on May 17. He now owns 1.1 million shares of Brazil’s state owned oil company. Soros sold out of Petrobras in mid-2010 only to return to the market in the fourth quarter of 2010 with the purchase of roughly 588,000 shares. The stock has been a money loser for Soros since getting back into the market, according to his average share price calculated...

A Washington Post story about Catholic professors challenging Rep. John Boehner’s Catholic faith with an open letter to the House Speaker ignores the role of one of the key signers in a George Soros-funded group. The letter to Boehner says, “Your record in support of legislation to address the desperate needs of the poor is among the worst in Congress.” Ignoring the Catholic tradition of subsidiarity, or decentralized government, and voluntarism, the letter claims Boehner’s votes against expansion of the federal welfare state are anti-Catholic.Letter signer Stephen F. Schneck of the Catholic University of America (CUA) is a board member of...
