the IRS may have been casting an even wider net, and agents could have unfairly targeted groups that touted better government economic policy and debt pay-down. Also among the targeted: Groups that tried to educate about the Constitution or government policy critics ... at least one congressional member has wondered: What about Obamacare? Do critics of Obamacare face extra layers of IRS scrutiny, also?

The Internal Revenue Service's scrutiny of conservative groups went beyond those with "tea party" or "patriot" in their names—as the agency admitted Friday—to also include ones worried about government spending, debt or taxes, and even ones that lobbied to "make America a better place to live," according to new details of a government probe. The investigation also revealed that a high-ranking IRS official knew as early as mid-2011 that conservative groups were being inappropriately targeted—nearly a year before then-IRS Commissioner Douglas Shulman told a congressional committee the agency wasn't targeting conservative groups.

Conservative groups have rejected an Internal Revenue Service apology for unjustifiably scrutinizing tax-exempt conservative groups during the 2012 election cycle. The IRS apology has seemingly validated conservatives' fears of politically motivated regulation. House Republican leaders, meanwhile, have vowed to investigate. Lois Lerner, the director the IRS unit that oversees tax-exempt organizations, said that organizations had been given additional scrutiny if their applications included the words "Tea Party" or "patriot." The practice originated with "low-level" employees in Cincinnati, according to an Associated Press report. In a press conference on Friday, Lerner called the actions of these employees "absolutely inappropriate." "They didn't...

SANFORD, Fla. - As controversy over the $200,000 George Zimmerman raised on PayPal took center stage Friday, Special Prosecutor Angela Corey's decision to ignore legal questions raised over whether she's obeying Florida's public record law went largely unnoticed. But the issue of whether Corey has the legal right to continue preventing the public from seeing the evidence she says proves Zimmerman committed the second degree murder of Trayvon Martin seems to be coming to a head. The special prosecutor's office on Friday refused to make that evidence public -- even though an attorney fighting for the public's access insists Friday...

Exceeds time it took Warren Commission to produce report on JFK murder “I will certainly await the report that comes out of the inspector general and I will assure you and the American people that people will be held accountable for any mistakes that were made in connection with Fast and Furious,” Attorney General Eric Holder testified in a November 8 Senate Judiciary Committee hearing. This leads to the questions of why it’s taking so long, and if the end result will be indicative of the self-serving stonewalling and foot-dragging the Department of Justice has exhibited throughout congressional investigations of...

The botched gun-tracking operation Fast and Furious was a plot hatched by the Obama administration to impose stricter gun laws, a House Republican said. In an interview with the National Rife Association, Rep. Joe Walsh (R-Ill.) said the controversial Justice Department operation — which authorized the sale of guns to known and suspected straw buyers for Mexican drug cartels — was a plot from the administration to build support for gun control. “This was the most anti-gun administration in our country’s history and there are a number of us that believe the whole genesis of this Fast and Furious...

"What we've got here is... failure to communicate." A quote from the movie Cool Hand Luke: spoken by The Captain, the imperious warden and by Cool Hand Luke at the conclusion of the film. Anagnorisis is the moment or instant when ignorance gives way to truth; assumed to be first described by Aristotle in his "Poetics," it along with peripeteia (reversal of fortune) describe Eric Holder's recent encounter with facts and soon justice and perhaps federal prison in Leavenworth. How poetic, the ancient Greeks so aptly described the present situation Holder created for himself by committing perjury, a crime he...

Just the facts: On May 3, 2011, Attorney General Eric Holder appeared before Congressman Darrell Issa (R-CA) and the House Oversight Committee for questioning on Fast and Furious. During questioning, Issa asked: “When did you first know about the program…called ‘Fast and Furious?” Holder responded: “I’m not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks” As I’ve written elsewhere, at the very moment Holder gave this answer, it was a safe bet he was being less than completely honest with the Congressional committee. But now the...

New documents obtained by CBS News show Attorney General Eric Holder was sent briefings on the controversial Fast and Furious operation as far back as July 2010. That directly contradicts his statement to Congress. On May 3, 2011, Holder told a Judiciary Committee hearing, "I'm not sure of the exact date, but I probably heard about Fast and Furious for the first time over the last few weeks."

You think Richard Nixon's presidency was the worst scandal ever? Well, so far, anyway. It all started with a tape holding a door open at the Watergate complex in Washington, D.C., discovered by a security guard 39 years ago on June 17, 1972. That discovery started a sinister chapter in America's history, fueled by the fervent investigative work of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein of The Washington Post and ending with the president, Richard M. Nixon, exiting the White House in disgrace on August 9, 1974. A similar Watergate scandal could erupt for Barack Obama. The only difference is that...

As National Gun Rights Examiner David Codrea, Seattle Gun Rights Examiner Dave Workman, and Sipsey Street Irregular Mike Vanderboegh have been covering, compelling new evidence strongly points to a deliberate cover-up of the "Gunwalker" scandal, involving at least the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (BATFE) and the U.S. Attorney's office in Arizona. The (very) short version is that emails between the BATFE Phoenix office and the U.S. Attorney's Arizona office openly discuss said cover-up. Stonewalling and cover-ups have been the hallmarks of the Obama administration's response to every attempt to get to the bottom of the Gunwalker scandal....

Border: A 2-year-old video shows a high Justice official saying "the president has directed us," including the attorney general, to speed up Project Gunrunner and the offshoot that got a border agent killed. This tape has no 18-minute gap, and while it does not feature the president himself, the March 24, 2009, video may rival the tape that turned a "third-rate burglary" into a presidential resignation. No one died at Watergate. Agent Brian Terry lost his life in the administration's obsessive pursuit of gun control. In addition to Agent Terry, Immigration Customs Enforcement Agent Jaime Zapata was also killed in...

Washington, D.C. -- After seven months of silence, and with controversy growing by the day, the chairman of the Project 21 black leadership network sent President Barack Obama a second certified letter asking for the appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate the Justice Department’s questionable handling of its voter intimidation case against members of the New Black Panther Party.Project 21 Chairman Mychal Massie wrote a letter to President Obama on December 4, 2009 asking for a special prosecutor that continues to remain unanswered. CHESAPEAKE, VA - Bishop E.W. Jackson Sr., President of STAND (Staying True to America's National Destiny), a grassroots organization dedicated to ending the racial divide, has denounced the Obama administration, accusing Eric Holder of engaging in "pay-back" against white people in the way the Attorney General's Office handled the black panther case. During the 2008 Presidential election, two members of the New Black Panther Party stood outside a voting poll in Philadelphia dressed in black uniforms and carrying nightsticks. Film shows that they were physically blocking the voting entrance at times and making racially incendiary statements such as, "Now you...

Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday requested that the Obama administration appoint a special prosecutor to probe allegations it offered Rep. Joe Sestak (D-Pa.) a job to stay out of the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic primary. In a letter to Attorney General Eric Holder, the members say the alleged offer could have violated federal laws that prohibit the "promise of employment or other benefit for political activity.""The allegations in this matter are very serious and, if true, suggest a possible violation of various federal criminal laws intended to safeguard our political process from the taint of bribes and...
