Weekly terror attacks, mass sex crimes, rampant violent crime, billion dollar welfare costs, sharia zones, no-go zones, Jew-hatred, misogyny — a continent roiled by hostile invasion. Colombia is making progress in salvaging the San Jose, a centuries-old Spanish ship believed to be carrying $1 billion worth of gold, silver and gems, the country's president said Wednesday. The ship, which sank in 1708, was found in 2015 by the Colombian navy and the country’s archaeology institute near the port of Cartegena. The San Jose's manifest showed it was carrying jewels and coins worth an estimated $1 billion, but analysts say the crew may have smuggled extra loot on board, National Geographic reported. “All this precious cargo was taken away from the indigenous people” of the Americas, Charles...

One of four suspected jihadists arrested in Mallorca this week planned to carry out an attack in the town of Inca, an investigating judge has said. It is believed that the man — named as Moroccan Abdulkader Mahmoudi — was poised to carry out an attack using a knife to stab people, following the modus operandi of the recent London Bridge attacks in which 8 people were killed and more than 40 injured. In this way he intended to “realize his plan to become a martyr,” said Judge Santiago Pedraz, the National Court magistrate charged with investigating the case against...

Hesham Shashaa (aka Abu Adam), a 46-year-old Egyptian-Palestinian, was detained near Alicante in southeastern Spain on April 26 on charges of aiding the Islamic State, extolling terrorism and promoting Salafi-jihadism. The Spanish Interior Ministry said that Shashaa had facilitated the travel to Spain of Islamic State jihadists from Syria and Iraq by providing them with money, refuge and fake documents. Most recently, Shashaa had made arrangements for...

Spain’s congress has voted in favor of digging up dictator Francisco Franco and removing his remains from the controversial Valley of the Fallen monument. The non-binding resolution passed on Thursday proposes that the vast basilica, topped by a 150-meter-high granite cross, be transformed into a place of “reflection and reconciliation” rather than a monument to fascism. The vote was passed after 198 MPs voted in favor of the motion presented by Spain’s Socialist party (PSOE), one voted against and 140 abstained. […] The motion attempts to kick start the Historical Memory Law of 2007, which has effectively been ignored since...

Spain is planning to use its Brexit veto over Gibraltar to tell the Rock how to run its economy, leaked documents have revealed. Madrid wants to end what it describes as the Rock’s “unjustified privileges”, according to reports of a leaked Spanish foreign ministry document. Spanish officials said Gibraltar’s low-tax status effectively means it enjoys “unfair competition” and has vowed to crack down on the “tax haven”. They will also demand a “new accord” over flights into Gibraltar’s international airport. Fabian Picardo, Gibraltar’s chief minister, accused Spain of holding “neo-colonial ambitions” over the territory. …

General Motors' (GM.N) Venezuelan subsidiary has sent a message to almost 2,700 staff informing them that they are no longer employed by the company and had received severance pay in their bank accounts, according to two employees. A Venezuelan court last week ordered the seizure of the company's Valencia plant, ruling in favor of two dealers that had filed a case in 2000 against the subsidiary on grounds they had not complied with an agreed sale of 10,000 vehicles. Workers say that before the seizure was announced, GM had been dismantling the plant, which has not produced a car since...

Why not have one more adventure?” Gray told TODAY. “So there was just no other response in my head than yeah, I'll push you.” That’s exactly what he did — pushing Skeesuck, whom he has known all his life — across northern Spain’s Camino de Santiago trail. Skeesuck, who has Multifocal Acquired Motor Axonopathy, a neuromuscular disease similar to ALS,...
