An American volunteer gently brushes away dirt to reveal the bones of a Somali victim buried in a mass grave some 30 years ago. Tens of thousands of skeletons may lie in mass graves here, on the northern edge of Somalia, where many want to see justice prevail, even if delayed. Last year 38 bodies were uncovered in two graves by the Somaliland War Crimes Investigation Commission, which is overseeing the work on a third site where another dozen bodies are buried. More than 200 mass graves with the bodies of 50,000 to 60,000 people may be in the region,...

UNICEF activists are campaigning to educate Somaliland communities about the harms of female genital mutilation. But the stigma of being ‘uncut’ is still so strong that many leaders say they will not stop practicing FGM.The 30 Somali teenagers - both boys and girls - all agreed: Female genital mutilation is harmful and the practice should be abandoned. But what they really meant, they revealed moments later, is that girls should have their genitalia cut - just not sewn shut. "It's our tradition and if the girls are not subjected to suna(cutting) she will not be accepted for marriage," said Asthma...

Trading American lives in exchange for amnesty for illegal aliens in the United States. That is the reality that exists according to the information contained in this video report. The southern border is a sieve which is leaking not only illegals from Mexico, but “Other Than Mexicans” (OTMs) as well. That information is not new, but this video indicates that the severity of the problem is much worse than what has previously been acknowledged by the authorities charged with our protection. Individuals from terrorist nations are called SIAs, Special Interest Aliens and many are known to be in the United...

Somali pirates on Friday unsuccessfully launched their first attack of 2014 on a tanker in the Gulf of Aden, resulting in the apprehension of five suspected pirates by naval counter-piracy forces a day later. The International Maritime Bureau reported Friday that a group of pirates used a mothership to launch an attack on a tanker underway approximately 115nm South of Salalah, Oman. During the attack, the pirates approached in a skiff and fire upon the vessel, but the attack was aborted after the ship’s armed security team returned fire. The IMB report stated that following the attack a coalition helicopter...

The tolerant, open-minded environmentalists of the Left have struck again. This time, the pro-fracking film FrackNation by Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer has been yanked from the Minnesota Frozen River Film Festival. FrackNation had already been accepted by festival organizers for a screening on Sunday but over the weekend it was announced the screening had been cancelled. The cancellation of the screening is a first for the festival, which has been around for nine years. "The film festival organizers seem to hate alternative points of view, they seem to want to quash diversity. They seem to be scared of the...

The U.S. military has deployed a small number of uniformed trainers and advisers to the failed state of Somalia for the first time since 1993, when two helicopters were shot down and 18 Americans were killed in the failed “Black Hawk Down” operation. A cell of U.S. military personnel has been stationed in the Somali capital of Mogadishu since last fall to advise and coordinate operations with African troops fighting to wrest control of the country from the al-Shabab militia, an Islamist group whose leaders have professed loyalty to al-Qaeda, according to three U.S. military officials. The previously undisclosed deployment...

Somalis have made Somalia a very pleasant place to live. Between the Muslim militias shooting at each other and the amateur hyena psychiatry sessions, it’s perfect. That’s why most Somalis are getting the hell out of there and moving to other countries that they can remake into Somalia. There are Little Mogadishus all across America, but few places have been hit as hard by Somali Muslim migrants as Maine whose generous benefits system is struggling to cope with the Somali settlers.Lewiston Mayor Robert E. MacDonald has written sharply about the Somali welfare invasion and its impact on Maine natives. Today in...

The British media seem hellbent to romanticize the comings and goings of 29-year-old Samantha Lewthwaite, who is believed to have fled Kenya to Somalia after the Nairobi shopping mall massacre in September. The authorities of many lands continue to miss those comings and goings, somehow missing Lewthwaite’s cross border movements even when she has four children in tow. There have since been four reported sightings of Lewthwaite in Somalia, who remains at large.

A long-awaited study has confirmed the fears of Somali residents in Minneapolis that their children suffer from higher rates of a disabling form of autism compared with other children there. The study — by the University of Minnesota, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the research and advocacy group Autism Speaks — found high rates of autism in two populations: About one Somali child in 32 and one white child in 36 in Minneapolis were on the autism spectrum. The national average is one child in 88, according to Coleen A. Boyle, who directs the C.D.C.’s Center on...
