On the afternoon of 31 January, 2016, some ATVs were getting gas at the intersection of Claiborne and Esplanade Avenues in New Orleans, Louisiana.  Richard Macklin pulled up in a white Volvo.  Macklin is believed to have been the aggressor in the incident.  He pulled out a firearm and opened fire on the ATV riders.  Three were wounded before anyone returned fire. One of the wounded was armed.  He drew his legally carried weapon and fired at Macklin, wounding him in the head and stopping the attack.  From  nola.gov/nopd: Based on the initial investigation, detectives learned that a group of...

And if one of them wins, you're going to pay for it. Do you know that the average monthly income in China is $952 in U.S. dollars? Not too good. But wait, in Cuba it’s only $25, which is a pretty big problem when a gallon of gas is almost $5. These are socialist/communist countries. They promise people all kinds of free stuff, and they impose massive taxes to pay for it. It seems like it should be fairly basic to understand that this is not the sort of system that can lead to any kind of prosperity, but judging...
  • District Judge Compared 'Traditional Hunters' to Elmer Fudd

Back in January, a judge allowed federal sharpshooters to kill 100 deer over a three-month period in the controversial Ann Arbor deer cull. But that's not the story to hunters in the city and state. At issue is the attitude of U.S. District Judge Arthur Tarnow, who ruled to allow the deer cull to proceed using the sharpshooters. Tarrow, in his ruling, praised the city for using federal sharpshooters "rather than have traditional hunters with carrots and six packs of beer" reduce the herd. The story began when complaints from residents about deer disease, damage to the landscape and car-deer...

Both Sanders and Clinton and all progressives thrive in a kind of negativity that ridicules love of God, love of country and family; with an ongoing negative spin that advances the lie that capitalism is a dead end Shop worn as he is, some still see Bernie Sanders as the window dressing in Hillary Clinton’s last grab for presidential power. Quaint as spats, Sanders is the poison ivy plant in the Democrat lineup to make it appear that Clinton has real competition for DNC presidential candidacy, while in fact as UK’s Telegraph points out, they’ve already insured that “there is...

Burns Chronicles: The Death of LaVoy Finical LaVoy Finicum’s last ride This is the first of a series of articles about the events surrounding the investiture of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge administration buildings by a group headed by Ammon Bundy, son of Cliven and Carol Bundy. The Bundys are well known for the events in Nevada that played out in April 2014. In that incident, the Bundys, along with hundreds of other patriotic Americans, went beyond “civil disobedience” and entered the realm of “civil defiance”, defying, with arms, the intrusion of the Bureau of Land Management into the long...

While Republicans debate whether Ted Cruz is Barry Goldwater or Ronald Reagan, Democrats are faced with a similar conundrum concerning Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont. Some more elderly Democrats, with memories going back decades, wonder if the angry, white-haired socialist is the second coming of George McGovern.

This may be a little out there, and I am the first to admit that it is late, and I am a little tired, so please be kind. I want to ask any other freepers if they have ever had real supernatural experiences. I ask because I have been subjected to dozens of them. I sometimes think that I am living in a caricature of this world. I want to know if any others have gone through this.First off, my originating experiences (ie. experienced by me directly) are pretty lame. But there have been a bunch of them. They are...

My essay from last November, "Tet, Take Two: Islam's 2016 European Offensive," has been translated into French. If you have any contacts in the online Francophone world, please kick this link over to them. In today's EU, this essay would be "hate speech" on its face, for stating the truth about Islam's mortal threat to European civilization. But sharing links is not illegal, (yet), so please share with your French-speaking friends, family etc. This article is a warning, and in French, it's a test of Europe's freedom of speech. http://gatesofvienna.net/2016/02/loffensive-islamique-en-europe-un-tet-numero-2/
  • Judge Abortion Facilities Don't Need to Meet Health Requirements [semi-satire]

Baton Rouge District Judge John deGravelles blocked a Louisiana law requiring that abortion facilities comply with state standards for health and safety, calling it unconstitutional. "The right to an abortion is a constitutional right decreed by the United States Supreme Court in 1973," de Gravelles ruled. "The state is not permitted to infringe on this right by adding conditions that could limit a woman's ability to abort her child." The Judge dispensed with the argument that the state has the power to set health and safety standards for medical treatments. "The contention that the lack of such standards endangers the...

It’s a new morning in America, time to come out of the weeds, to join forces against the digital fairytale of the globalists working to bring down Western Society The lay of the land was laid bare in Iowa last night: No matter what the progressives instruct the mainstream media to say, conservatism is alive and well in battered America. Conservatives reopened the steel barred door letting through the masses, and it will be up to the masses and not the high-handed media to keep the movement going to restore America to what she was before Obama began his unsolicited...

A survey shows that Jewish Israelis rank Barack Obama as the "worst" U.S. president in relation to Israel in the last 30 years -- 63% of Israelis put Obama in the "worst" category while 16% rated Jimmy Carter as the second "worst" president. The survey was conducted by Panels Politics in Tel Aviv, and the results were published in the Jewish Journal. [...] In a survey just before the 2012 presidential election, Panels Politics found that 47% of Jewish Israelis viewed Barack Obama as "pro-Palestinian"; 24% said "neutral"; and 21% said "pro-Israel." ...
  • The Left's Newest Nasty Trick

The left is using a successful dirty political trick to get the most unelectable candidate as their opposing nominee. In this case I believe that person to be Donald Trump. They learned this trick from the recent French Le Pen elections where they crossed party lines and voted for Le Pen's opponent. The left may be lying, cheating, diabolical thieves but they are not stupid in the ways of politics and they learn quick. They don't have to worry about ethics and honor like the right does.

A lot of people are very afraid of Donald Trump. His success will come at their expense because power in politics is a zero sum commodity. What one side gains is always at the expense of the other. Every day we are presented with twisted and convenient definitions of conservatism from those who desperately don’t want to be on the losing side. To them, changing one’s mind and acknowledging the value of conservative positions has become a sign of insincere conservatism. They echo the liberal line about Lincoln not being so great because he, “Came late” to the idea of...

Major retailers in the United States are shutting down hundreds of stores, and shoppers are reporting alarmingly bare shelves in many retail locations that are still open all over the country. It appears that the retail apocalypse that made so many headlines in 2015 has gone to an entirely new level as we enter 2016. As economic activity slows down and Internet retailers capture more of the market, brick and mortar retailers are cutting their losses. This is especially true in areas that are on the lower portion of the income scale. In impoverished urban centers all over the nation,...
  • Why Is Obama Flooding Small Towns In The Most Conservative Parts Of America With Refugees?

Why are small towns in conservative states being specifically targeted for refugee resettlement? Of course the Obama administration will never publicly admit that this is happening, but it doesn’t take a genius to figure out what is going on. Just look at the uproar that refugee resettlement is now causing in small communities in Idaho, Montana, North Dakota and Kansas. The Obama administration has deemed large cities such as Washington D.C. to be “too expensive” for the refugees, and so large numbers of them are being dispersed throughout smaller communities all over the nation. If you drop a few hundred...

And you thought politics in the United States were crazy! We've got nothing on the Scots. Due to a "legislative quirk," the Scottish parliament was forced to debate legalizing incestual relationships between consenting adults. The mandatory debate was held today due to a petition submitted by Australian Richard Morris. The Scottish parliament must consider all petitions which propose a law change.

Donald Trump went after Ted Cruz in an interview today, calling him "a total liar" for saying that Mr. Trump supports universal health care similar to ObamaCare. "Look, Ted Cruz is a total liar," Mr. Trump responded. "I am so against ObamaCare." Trump was then asked, "You say that Ted Cruz is a liar, but you have said that you want everyone to be covered on health care and the government's going to pay for it. How is that not ObamaCare?" "Well, that's true," Mr. Trump answered. "I want people taken care of. I have a heart. I want people...
