COLUMBIA, Mo. -- A monster winter storm took aim at a third of the nation Monday, threatening to lay a potentially deadly path of heavy snow and ice from the Rockies to New England, followed by a wave of bitter, bone-rattling cold that could affect tens of millions of people. Cities including St. Louis, Kansas City and Milwaukee could be hardest hit, with expected midweek snowfalls of up to 2 feet and drifts piled 5 to 10 feet. Even hardy Chicago could be in for its third-worst blizzard since record-keeping began. "I wouldn't want to be on the road in...

The same storm that brought a gentle snowfall across Texas on Tuesday will reach the Northeast in the form of an atmospheric monster with damaging winds, blinding snow, torrential rain, huge waves and flooding. In the hardest-hit areas, it will seem more like a "snowacane," as a mere blizzard may not adequately describe conditions of this soon-to-be powerful nor'easter. Wind Wind gusts can reach 70 mph in some areas, just shy of hurricane force. Many locations in the mid-Atlantic and New England will endure gusts topping 50 mph at some point Thursday to Friday. Winds of this strength will down...

Very soon after a storm dumps up to a foot and a half of snow on parts of upstate New York into Wednesday, a second, much larger and much more powerful storm will impact tens of millions of people in the Northeast by damaging winds and areas of heavy snow, heavy rain and flooding Thursday into Friday. Since the storm will behave like a hurricane with snow, it will cut power for days in some areas, while severely impacting travel and daily activities.

(Rush 24/7 Members: Listen) "When there is less snow, the alarmists say that's because of global warming. When there is more snow, they say it's because of global warming. Conservatives Use "Snowmageddon" to Mock Global Warming Posted by Stephanie Condon (CBS/ Jill Jackson) Conservative congressmen are using Washington's serious snow storm (known as "snowmageddon" or "snowpocalypse") to mock those who say the government should act to curb global warming, and at least one Democrat says the storm could actually set back progress on an energy and climate bill. Sen. Jim DeMint (R-S.C.) took to the social networking site Twitter to mock former Vice President Al Gore over the storm: "It's going to keep snowing in DC until Al Gore cries 'uncle,'" he tweeted yesterday. Sen. Jim Inhofe (R-Okla.), the...

Just who is meteorologist Jeff Masters, the man behind the dubious Snowpocalypse, global warming "connection" that so many liberals like MSNBC's Dylan Ratigan, Time Magazine and the New Republic have been quoting to spread their global warming propaganda? Over the last few days, in coincidence with Snowpocalypse, the blizzards in the mid-Atlantic that have handed the region its snowiest winter ever, many liberal ideologues have abused the occasion to falsely connect the record snowfall to "proof" of global warming. We've all seen the scientifically challenged rant of Dylan Ratigan on his ultra low-rated show that no one watches and heard...

Hoaxes: Despite failures at Copenhagen, the fraud of the IPCC and the farce of Climate-gate, the administration wants an agency to monitor climate change. Why must we fund one-stop shopping for climate charlatans? As the climate freezes, there's no freeze on federal employment that will grow even more with the establishment of a new agency, the Climate Service office. The new agency was announced Monday by Commerce Secretary Gary Locke and Jane Lubchenco, head of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). This ministry of climate change propaganda will operate in tandem with NOAA's National Weather Service and National Ocean...

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Presidential quips about Washington's supposed lack of winter toughness have disappeared as snow accumulations mounted. Barack Obama had been in office for about a week in 2009 when he expressed disbelief that many schools had canceled classes one day because of ice. "As my children pointed out, in Chicago, school is never canceled," he said then. "We're going to have to try to apply some flinty Chicago toughness." Well, here comes more than a little ice: an estimated 20 to 30 inches of snow in Washington.
