Friday Quotes:  Open Line Friday
February 12, 2010

"People ask, 'Rush, how long are you going to do this?'
I won't retire 'til every American agrees with me.
Well, Obama is making that happen!"

"When there is less snow, the alarmists say that's because of global warming.
When there is more snow, they say it's because of global warming.
Now, you cannot have it both ways, otherwise you're contradicting yourself and proving that all you are is on a political mission."

"You think of all of the billions that have been spent ostensibly to protect things and people from global warming,
and it's all been a scam, nothing more than a huge transfer of wealth.  It is a giant scam.  It is political corruption."

"Someday -- I'm patient -- it's been 20 and a half years behind the Golden EIB Microphone,
yet someday, you are going to learn not to doubt me."

"Snerdley just asked me:  'Patrick Kennedy's not going to run. Is this the last of the Kennedys in Congress?'
And I said:  'Yeah, and if I could somehow get the word to my dad it might bring him back to life.'
It could, folks, it really could."

"The views expressed by the host on this program make more sense than anything anybody
else out there happens to be saying, and there's always somebody out there."

"We weren't waiting for somebody to lower the seas; we were waiting for an elected official in
an executive branch to lower the sea of red ink and to get some sensibility back to budgeting."

"We were waiting for a leader with guts to heal the spending sickness that grips
bureaucrats and big spenders in legislature after legislature after legislature.
This is the kind of thing the tea party people are demanding."

"Budgets are going to have to be balanced to avoid bankruptcy, and every time a state's governor
takes the lead in returning fiscal sanity to his or her state, Barack Obama's going to be made to
look that much weaker and that much more ineffective."

"Ladies and gentlemen, is it wrong to love another man, because I love Chris Christie.
He's taking on rich union contracts.
This is what is going to have to be done at the state and city level to balance these budgets.
That's where all of this waste is, that's where all the stimulus money went that was spent last year.
It went to bail out states to make sure that public employee union people were not laid off.
But the day is coming."

"I have been warning the Blue Dogs that they're not going to be able to vote for any of these
Obama agenda items and go home and pretend that they are fiscal conservatives.
A number of Democrats have already switched parties or announced that they're going to."

"Obama has an arrogance and a superiority complex like I have never seen, coupled with
an acute, abject, total ignorance of how business operates, how it runs, what the principles are.
The guy is an absolute disaster."

"The people that elected Obama owe us big time."

"People ask me:  'Rush, after all these years why don't you get a call-in number like 1-800-HI-RUSH.'
I don't have that kind of ego.  I don't need a phone number named after me.  Our phone number works fine.
We never had any problem getting calls."

"At least Governor Christie is showing the way.  The state's budget is in shambles.
The liberals are squealing like stuck pigs, but he's doing exactly what people elected him to do."

"Senator Rockefeller said, 'Obama's beginning to not be believable to me.'
Senator Rockefeller, may I help?
Obama does not like clean coal and will do everything he can to get rid of it."

"Say it with me:  'Roll back Pelosi.'
Because that's where the damage began, and it has been expanded by
Obama and Democrat control of the Senate.  It is obscene.  Roll back Pelosi."

"There's a chip on Obama's shoulder about minority inequality, unfairness, and all that.
It's what he's been taught, it's the way he was raised, and it's why he's going to settle the score."

"There ought to be no fear in the Republicans in being the party of 'no,' not on this issue of health care.
Even the Democrats are starting to peel away from Obama now on this."

"We've never voted on abortion.
You know, abortion does not nearly roil the British society like it does ours because they voted on it there.
It was not imposed by a Supreme Court, nine people wearing black robes."

"Pro-choice?  The only choice that the Democrats and the left are going to allow before it's all over is abortion."

"People sometimes, in their own names, disregard spelling rules and come up with any pronunciation they want, like 'Ludacris.'"

"Camelot was great marketing at the time, and the press, the press is still longing for the next one.
They thought they had it with the Clinton administration, but that kind of went down the tubes with the semen stained blue dress."

"We're calling it Camelnot now because the last Kennedy is leaving Congress, the last Kennedy is leaving Washington."

"He needs the Republicans because they're the ones whose poll numbers are up
He needs them to get his rear end out of the fire, and they will probably cooperate."

Continually repeat ...

It's not about me.
I'm the President.

Obama's Secret Plan:  Retire Rush
He's making sure every American agrees with your host!
February 12, 2010

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: I think I've figured it all out now, Obama's secret plan: Try to get me to retire.

JOHNNY DONOVAN: And now, from sunny South Florida, it's Open Line Friday!

RUSH: No, no, I'm serious. I think that's his secret plan is to get me to retire. Remember, folks, people ask me all the time, "Rush, how long are you going to do this?" "I'm not stopping 'til every American agrees with me." And Obama is making that happen. I mean it's amazing to watch out there. Greetings and welcome, ladies and gentlemen, Rush Limbaugh, the EIB Network and the Limbaugh Institute for Advanced Conservative Studies. Open Line Friday. A little bonus for our listeners and callers when we go to the phones, get to talk about whatever you want. Not the case Monday through Thursday. So here's the number again: 800-282-2882.

No, I mean this. It's as if Obama is on a mission to get every American to agree with me and he has the Democrats working with him hand in hand. It was just a few months ago -- I'm serious about this -- it was just a few weeks, months ago, it felt immoral to take a day off, given what the nutty professor was doing each and every day, multiple times a day. We had to deal with this professor, he never took a day off, he never took an hour off. But now, has there ever been a better time to take off than in the past several years? Christmas Eve was even tough to take off 'cause the assault on this country was in full swing. So don't worry, folks, I'm not going to fall for this trick. No, I'm not going to retire. Because I don't think it's going to be possible for Obama to make every American agree with me, but he's on a roll. You want me to go through some of the lists?

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Things are getting so bad for liberals, folks, I'm almost beginning, I'm not going to go all the way but I'm almost beginning to feel sorry for them, and this is why I say that I think Obama has a secret plot to get me to retire based on my claim that I am not going to do so until everybody agrees with me.

In no particular order, the stimulus, Porkulus slush fund has failed. Obamacare has been rejected by a large majority of Americans. Obama's poll numbers across the board are in free fall. Obama embarrassed himself twice in Copenhagen. Obama's buck is stopping with his inner circle of Chicago thug advisors. They're being blamed by the left for Obama's failed presidency, not George W. Bush. Do you realize what a meaningful transformation that is? All of these people on the left, from Douglas Wilder to any number of DC pundits are blaming the Chicago thugocracy for Obama's slip-ups, not Bush, and forgetting that Obama is one of them. They're not blaming me, they're blaming the thugocracy from Chicago.

Alec Baldwin has melted down over another incident with his daughter. The deficit and unemployment are destroying the Obama fiction, and the country's identified Obama's policies as the problem. Democrat candidates were humiliated in New Jersey, Virginia, and Massachusetts, and guess what? Patrick Kennedy has said he's not running for reelection in Rhode Island. He's got a 62% disapproval. Some people speculate that he might be planning to move back to Massachusetts and run against Scott Brown in a couple years. I don't think that's what's going on. We're down to the last surviving Kennedy brother and that's in the White House, Barack Hussein Obama Kennedy, and it's not looking well -- Camelnot, anybody? Camelnot? The only bad thing about this is we're going to pick up a seat in Rhode Island, that's four-to-one Democrat, now with Patrick getting out of there, the Democrats might hold that seat, we'll have to wait and see.

Generic polls favor Republicans by huge margins. Sarah Palin is getting write-ups now in the State-Controlled Media Barack Obama would kill for. Joe Klein and David Broder, the same day, wrote 90% lauding favorable pieces of Sarah Palin. Of course, then there's Robert Gibbs. We have to feel sorry for Obama because of Baghdad Bob Gibbs. Guantanamo Bay is still open. Obama will not drop the idea of trying Khalid Sheikh Mohammed in New York City. Michelle Obama has told the world that her daughters are fatties. ClimateGate, a total hoax, has been exposed. Record cold temperatures worldwide over the past year, mind-numbing blizzards and Algore nowhere to be found, not even in the igloo in Washington that Jim Inhofe built for him. Obama embraces bank bonuses after trashing them for a year. Obama prematurely and awkwardly gives away the lie of not taxing the hell out of the middle class.

Joe Biden has, in effect, said mission accomplished to Bush and Cheney for their brilliant policy in Iraq by claiming it's one of the greatest achievements of the Obama administration, and the tea parties are working, and last, but not least, more and more and more Americans agree with me, your host, El Rushbo. They hope Obama fails. More and more Americans hope Obama fails. And there's this story from The Politico: "Family Feud: Pelosi at Odds with Obama." Is she throwing Obama under the bus? I'm wondering if this is all just a fake. "House Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s increasingly public disagreements with President Barack Obama are a reflection of something deeper: the seething resentment some Democrats feel over what they see as cavalier treatment from a wounded White House." And then of course Dingy Harry has pulled the jobs bill. He's reducing it from $85 billion to $15 billion, once again savaging and screwing, thankfully for us, though, the Republicans in the Senate.

Audio Flashback:  Democrats Said No Snow Proved Global Warming
The hoax unravels:  You can't have it both ways, libs.
February 12, 2010

VIDEO at link below .

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Did you see it snowed in Rome? "Rare Snowfall in Rome as Cold Snap Grips Italy." This is the biggest snowfall since 1986. I happened to be there during that snowfall. It was a listener trip when I was working at KFBK in Sacramento. We had a cheap travel agent that booked us in some dormitory of some nearby college, and we got over there, 14 inches of snow when we woke up the first day, and it was just freezing, cold as it could be. I saw that today and wasn't it just earlier this week when we were talking about global warming getting a real blow with all these snowstorms on the East Coast, the pro-global warming people said, "Well, yeah, yeah, yeah, but I mean, look, there's no snow and it's not even below 50 degrees up there for the winter Olympics."

"Snow, rain, and fog may replace gold, silver, and bronze this weekend at Whistler Mountain, site of the Alpine skiing events at the 2010 Winter Games. Olympic meteorologists at the venue predict inclement weather through Sunday, making it increasingly likely that the men's downhill on Saturday and the women's super combined on Sunday could be delayed," because of a blizzard. Ha-ha-ha-ha-ha. Also, you know, it is amazing to watch, it really is amazing to watch all of these pro-global warming people who admit that it's all a political issue, trying to tell us that warm air creates more snow. So NewsBusters went out and compared temperatures during these recent snowstorms to the seasonal norms. In Washington, the normal average temperature December 18th and 19th is 39 degrees. The actual average temperature on those two days was 30 and 26 when they had some snow. February 5th and 6th, normal temperature, 36. The actual temperatures, 34 and 27. And February 10th, the average temperature is 37, it was 25, the actual temperature on that day.

So the temperatures are not warmer, causing all of this snow, ladies and gentlemen. And it's hilarious for me to watch all this. Global warming, they say, causes more snow, right? Well, then global cooling would cause less snow? I mean, different ways of saying the same thing, right? As one who is possessed with a tremendous amount of logic and critical thinking capability that would have to be true. But when there is less snow, the alarmists say that's because of global warming. When there is more snow, they say it's because of global warming. Now, you cannot have it both ways, otherwise you're contradicting yourself and proving that all you are is on a political mission. Now, we've heard from all the experts, all the members of Congress, all the experts in the media telling us that these record snowfalls are just proof of global warming. Well, let's go back to the audio sound bites. We have about seven of them here. March 21st, 2002, from the Senate floor. Not enough snow was falling back then and Robert Byrd said this proved global warming.

BYRD 2002: We need a climate change strategy badly. Look at the kind of winter we've had here in Washington. One snow, three inches? What can we expect for the spring and summer seasons? What's going to happen to our crops, our livestock, our economy? This is serious. I've lived a long time, 84 years. Something's going wrong out there. I don't need a scientist to tell me that. We had better do something about it.

RUSH: You gotta listen to this, folks. These are Democrats complaining global warming proved by no snow. No snow in Washington, 2002, proves global warming. Yesterday and the day before, all of this snow in Washington proves global warming. They both can't be right. Here's Barbara Boxer, October 29th, 2007, on the Senate floor.

BOXER 2007: He also remarked that the most optimistic climate models for the second half of this century suggest that 30 to 70% of the snow pack will disappear. Now, no wonder we have people visiting our offices who are just already hurting from the recreation industry in this nation. They see what's happening. They see the handwriting on the wall. We have to act.

RUSH: The ski industry was visiting her office. By the way, do you know why we have Presidents Day? The ski industry. The ski industry lobbied for a three-day holiday during the height of ski season in February so that's one of the reasons why there's a Presidents Day. So almost three years ago, well, two and a half years ago, Barbara Boxer worried, not enough snow, ski industry complaining, global warming. Snowmobile association upset, too. April 22nd, 2008, in Washington, Senator Amy Klobuchar, Minnesota, on the Senate floor.

KLOBUCHAR 2008: I heard it from the head of our snowmobile association who testified at a forum that I had with our governor on climate change in January because they've seen decreasing snow levels. I hear about it from ice fishermen because they have seen that it takes longer for the ice to freeze and they can't put their fish house out.

RUSH: Oh, man, global warming as recently as 2007 because there's no ice and there's no snow. Now we have record snows and it proves global warming. Barbara Boxer, March 19th, 2009, environment public works economy hearing.

BOXER 2009: Looking at the United States of America, the IPCC clearly warned that unchecked global warming will lead to reduced snow pack in the western mountains, critically reducing access to water, which is our lifeblood.

RUSH: Lack of snow could threaten the water supply, lack of snow due to global warming. Di Fi, same theme, June 21st, 2005, on the Senate floor.

FEINSTEIN 2005: The Sierra Nevada snow pack is the largest source of water. The snow pack equals about half the storage capacity of all of California's man-made reservoirs. By the end of the century, the shrinking of the snow pack will eliminate the water source for 16 million people.

RUSH: Are you catching this, folks? This is out and out BS. These are full-fledged lies brought about by a political allegiance to a leftist scam and hoax called global warming. We may have snow in all 50 states by the time this weekend is over. In fact, it did snow in northern Florida. I think at an Air Force Base. They're getting 12 inches of global warming in Montgomery, Alabama. Twelve inches of global warming in Alabama! It's 'cause of global warming, ladies and gentlemen. And yet two years ago, five years ago, three years ago, the lack of snow was due to global warming. I'm playing all these just to illustrate for you that these people have no idea what they're talking about. They're simply pushing a political agenda. Barbara Boxer again, October 29th, 2007, Senate floor.

BOXER 2007: The potential consequences will be devastating for our families in the future and for the world. Now we're seeing the early warning signs. People can come down to this floor and say whatever they want. We've seen melting of snow, we have seen melting of permafrost, increased temperatures, warming of lakes, rivers, oceans, changes in the seasons.

RUSH: We've seen none of that. We haven't seen any changes in the seasons! Twenty-five years ago, 14 inches of snow, 26 years ago in Rome, it's happened again. Is that a trend? Is it an anomaly or is it just nature? Could it just be nature? Jay Inslee, representative, Democrat, Washington, on the House floor, ski industry again.

INSLEE 2005: The ski industry in the Cascade Mountains in Washington essentially was shut down this year. My son's on ski patrol and he worked for three days this year, there was no snow. And having no snow is consistent with what the models will predict will become a significant problem for us in the future.

RUSH: That's July 20th, 2005, no snow, global warming, oh, the models are telling us huge problems. Now record snowfalls, Philadelphia, Baltimore, Washington, it's global warming. They cannot have it both ways. You can't say when there's less snow that's global warming and when there's more snow than normal that's global warming. They're trying to but it will not pass the smell test.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Very seriously, ladies and gentlemen, this global warming hoax, this climate change stuff borders on criminal corruption, criminal political corruption. You think of all of the billions that have been spent ostensibly to protect things and people from global warming, and it's all been a scam, nothing more than a huge transfer of wealth. It is a giant scam. It is political corruption, what has happened. It's funny to listen to these people make fools of themselves and I love doing it, and it's not very hard. Just play their own words. I just got a note from a good friend: "Way to go, Rush, very smooth. You made 'em look foolish." I replied: "Easy. They are." But they're also dangerous. This is political criminal corruption, what is happening here, and just as they have ensnared the media to provide all kinds of propaganda for all the other political corruption that comes from liberalism, the Democrat Party, et al, they're doing it in global warming as well. Think of the money that need not have been spent on any of this. It's getting crazier and crazier.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Let me ask you a question, folks. Who has done more damage to our way of life and that of free people around the world, the SDS Weather Underground -- Students for a Democratic Society, the sixties bunch, the Bill Ayers types -- or the man-made global warming weathermen? I would maintain to you that the man-made global warming weathermen from your local meteorologists (with some exceptions), to these idiots on cable TV, to everybody in the liberal Democrat Party who believes this and wants to advance it as a political issue has done more damage than even Bill Ayers wanted to do.

Dr. Thomas Sowell on Fairness (Plus:  First-Born Kids are Smarter)
Fairness:  A fallacy that's poisoned politics.
Life isn't fair.

February 12, 2010

Okay.  Who's smarter?  Me or my twin sister who's 7 minutes older?

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: A piece by great and genius Thomas Sowell: "Fallacies About What's Fair." This appeared this past Tuesday at TownHall.com. "If there is ever a contest to pick which word has done the most damage to people's thinking, and to actions to carry out that thinking, my nomination would be the word 'fair.' It is a word thrown around by far more people than have ever bothered to even try to define it. This mushy vagueness may be a big handicap in logic but it is a big advantage in politics. All sorts of people, with very different notions about what is or is not fair, can be mobilized behind this nice-sounding word, in utter disregard of the fact that they mean very different things when they use that word.

"Some years ago, for example, there was a big outcry that various mental tests used for college admissions or for employment were biased and 'unfair' to many individuals or groups. Fortunately there was one voice of sanity -- David Riesman, I believe -- who said: 'The tests are not unfair. LIFE is unfair and the tests measure the results.' If by 'fair' you mean everyone having the same odds for achieving success, then life has never been anywhere close to being fair, anywhere or at any time," and, by the way, this word "fair," he's exactly right about this. We have commented on this before. This word "fair" and the concept of "fairness" is the primary foundational building block used by the left to coerce people into supporting their policies. "It's only fair," or, "It's unfair and we've gotta level the playing field" and blah, blah, blah. It suckers people in because who's against "fairness"? It's like who's against clean water? Who's against clean air? Nobody! Same thing here: Who's against fairness?

"[L]ife has never been anywhere close to being fair, anywhere or at any time, and if you stop and think about it (however old-fashioned that may seem), it is hard even to conceive of how life could possibly be fair in that sense. Even within the same family," and listen to this, folks. My family proves this. "Even within the same family, among children born to the same parents and raised under the same roof, the firstborns on average have higher IQs than their brothers and sisters, and usually achieve more in life." (interruption) You doubt Dr. Sowell, Snerdley? This is research! See, this is the whole point: You can't accept it 'cause it doesn't sound fair. It doesn't sound logical to you. (interruption) Well, I was tweaking David but it's... (laughing) I was tweaking my brother, but read it to you again without my editorial comment that it's even proven in my family. Ahem.

"Even..." (laughing) "Even within the same family, among children..." Stop and think about this, folks. Get my family out of this. Many of you people are firstborn and this will give you the permission to admit that you know you're smarter object or maybe your brothers and sisters are dumber than you are, and you've noticed it but you don't want to mention it because it's just not fair. "Even within the same family, among children born to the same parents and raised under the same roof, the firstborns on average have higher IQs than their brothers and sisters, and usually achieve more in life. Unfairness is often blamed on somebody, even if only on 'society.' But whose fault is it if you were not the firstborn? Since some groups have more children than others, a higher percentage of the next generation will be firstborns in groups that have smaller families, so such groups have an advantage over other groups.

"Despite all the sound and fury generated in controversies over whether different groups have different genetic potential, even if they all have identical genetic potential the outcomes can still differ if they have different birth rates," and this doesn't even account for ambition, desire, and all the other. "Twins have average IQs several points lower than children born singly. Whether that is due to having to share resources in the womb or having to share parents' attention after birth, the fact is what it is -- and, it certainly is not fair. Many people fail to see the fundamental difference between saying that a particular thing -- whether a mental test or an institution -- is conveying a difference that already exists or is creating a difference that would not exist otherwise. Creating a difference that would not exist otherwise is discrimination, and something can be done about that. But, in recent times, virtually any disparity in outcomes is almost automatically blamed on discrimination, despite the incredible range of other reasons for disparities between individuals and groups.

"Nature's discrimination completely dwarfs man's discrimination. Geography alone makes equal chances virtually impossible." Geography! "The geographic advantages of Western Europe over Eastern Europe -- in climate and navigable waterways, among other things -- have led to centuries of differences in income levels that were greater than income differences between blacks and whites in America today. Just the fact that the lay of the land is different in different parts of Europe meant that it was easier for the Roman legions to invade Western Europe. This meant that Western Europeans had the advantages of the most advanced civilization in Europe at that time." The Romans. "Moreover, because Roman letters were used in Western Europe, the languages of that region had written versions centuries before the Slavic languages of Eastern Europe did."

What's fair about that? "The difference between literacy and illiteracy is a huge difference, and it remained huge for centuries. Was it the Slavs' fault that the Romans did not want to climb over so many mountains to get to them" and conquer them? The Romans said to hell with the Slavs; we don't want to go to the trouble of getting there. They went the easy route. They took to Western Europe, conquered them, and, voila! Written language and advanced civilization hits Western Europe long before Eastern Europe. "To those living in Western Europe in the days of the Roman Empire, the idea of being conquered, and many slaughtered, by the Romans probably had no great appeal." I wouldn't want to be conquered and slaughtered. "But their descendants would benefit from their bad luck. And that doesn't seem fair either." The point is, folks, there's no such thing as fairness. It is impossible. It's just like... The whole concept of "equality" is much the same thing. It's not humanly possible. No two people are equal. Not even twins! There are differences, as we have noted in their IQs. You can have equality before the law, you can have equality of opportunity, but you cannot have equality of outcome. You cannot have equality of result based on "fairness" or anything else. Yet this is the primary impetus the left uses to solicit support for their agenda. Don't fall for it anymore. You've been warned.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Someday... Someday! I'm patient. It's been 20-1/2 years behind the Golden EIB Microphone, yet someday, you are going to learn not to doubt me. I checked the e-mail during the break. "Come on, Rush! You didn't even cite any proof for this stupid survey that says the firstborn are smarter than everybody. You can't prove that. Just because Sowell says it, you believe it? You didn't cite anything. It's silly." All right. All right, all right, all right. You know, it's a good thing -- it's a good thing -- that I love myself. It's a good thing I have a lot of confidence, otherwise you people would have beat me down 18 years ago. June 22nd, 2007, from CBS News: "Birth order may modestly affect IQ scores, favoring firstborn children, according to a new study. The study, published in the journal Science, shows about a two-point gap in average IQ scores among firstborn men and men with living older siblings.

"The study included nearly 244,000 teenage men in Norway," and this is just one of them. (interruption) The cite for it is the journal Science, which I will admit has also bought along publishing a bunch of gunk on global warming. I'll admit that, but I think this is something that our audience can prove it to themselves. (interruption) Logically? You can't say it's logically possible. That's the point, Snerdley: Logic and science don't go hand in hand. Science says it's possible. Research, not logic. If you want to apply this test to your own family, try it. Are you not the firstborn? Is that what this is all about? (interruption) You're the second born. A-ha! (laughing) We need a president, by the way, folks, Obama's failing us in so many ways.

Climate fairness. You know, really, is it fair, all the snow happened on the East Coast twice? We need somebody to redistribute the snow over a wider area so there will be less snowfall, aggregate total. Hell, Safeway trucks are just now getting back into gear in Maryland to restock the grocery stores there. What's fair about that? That's not fair, especially since this is where Obama lives. What we need is a president who would press for redistribution of temperatures. That's the only fair thing to do. I didn't choose the climate I live in. Why should I have to sit here and put up with it? It was forced on me, forced on me! One might say that the people in Hawaii, for an example, have an unnatural, unjust advantage because their climate's better than mine. It's pretty all the time. Can you imagine? Where would you rather be: Yugoslavia, Serbia, or Hawaii? What's fair about that?

RUSH: To the phones. It's Open Line Friday. This is Melanie in Toledo, Ohio. Hi, Melanie, welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: Hi, Rush. It's great to talk to you today.

RUSH: Thank you very much.

CALLER: In the past you've always talked about when you were young how you always wanted to be older because you knew your life would get better the older you got.

RUSH: That's true.

CALLER: Well, my question for you is: Have you (or do you ever think that you will) reach a point where you can say to yourself, "I have everything I've ever dreamed of and more; life cannot possibly get any better than this"?

RUSH: I don't look at it that way. I would never say, "Well, this is maxed out. To hell with it, and I'm going to go check in and have the doctors turn off life support -- or put on life support so they can turn it off." You're very right. When I was ten, I wanted to be 16 and drive. When I was 16, I wanted to be 21. When I was 21, I wanted to be 30. When I was 34 and scrounging together enough of a down payment to buy my first little shack that was called a house, the guy who sold it to me said, "Don't sweat it. Nobody's going to let you make any money 'til you're 40. That's just the way it works in this country." Now, that's not so much true any more, because, you know, a lot of bright guys on the Internet have changed all that. But it did used to be that way. The way to express it now is that I still look forward to each new day, because each new day is better than the day before. Every day presents -- if you look for it and if you're open to it -- new opportunities. Whether you want to access them or not, they're still there. So no. I haven't gotten to the point yet where, "Gee, I wish I was younger."

CALLER: (giggles)

RUSH: I might. I'll let you know when it happens, but it hasn't happened yet.

CALLER: Well, that's what everybody loves about you is your optimistic outlook.

RUSH: Well, I'd be foolish not to be one. I mean, look. My life is blessed. My parents wouldn't understand my life. They would not believe it. My father would not believe it's possible, primarily because I didn't go to college. But even beyond that, he thought that you had to inherit money in order to have that kind of success. That's just their experience. They grew up in the Great Depression, and World War I and World War II. Thanks for calling, Melanie.

Rockefeller:  Obama Not Believable
Senator Jay Rockefeller says what we all know well.
February 12, 2010

VIDEO at link below.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: From Real Clear Politics -- I don't have the audio of this. Cookie's been working hard all week, I may not even send the audio bite up to her to use, but the Democrats are going south on Obama here. This is Jay Rockefeller: "Obama is beginning to be not believable to me." Jay Rockefeller, Senator, West Virginia: "He says 'I'm for clean coal,' and then he says it in his speeches, but he doesn't say it in here. And he doesn't say it in the minds of my own people. And he's beginning to not be believable to me." Senator Rockefeller, may I help?

Obama does not like clean coal and will do everything he can to get rid of it. We tried to tell your voters this in the campaign of '08. Senator Rockefeller, look around you, sir. He's destroying every institution that has made this the greatest country on earth. He has launched an assault on every one. Do you think any kind of coal fits his green energy agenda, Senator? Clean coal? There's no such thing, compare it to his mythical green energy sector. This is worse than a menace but we're still going to have to deal with it.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here's Jay Rockefeller, this is back on February 4th, this is a little over a week ago, during a Senate Finance Committee hearing Jay Rockefeller said this about Obama to Peter Orszag, the director of the OMB.

ROCKEFELLER: He said, you know, I'm for clean coal, then he says it in speeches, but he doesn't say it in here, and he doesn't say it in the minds of my own people, and he's beginning to be not believable to me.

RUSH: Jay Rockefeller, talking about Obama. Senator Rockefeller, I'm telling you, if you think he likes clean coal or any kind of coal, I tried to tell you, does coal fit in any way, shape, manner, or form with the so-called green energy initiative of this little malcontent? It doesn't. People better wake up.

ESPN Host: McNabb Overrated
Will this guy have a job at ESPN tomorrow?
Probably.

RUSH: You know, this issue just won't -- it's not an issue anymore -- just won't go away. It's funny. This morning ESPN's Mike and Mike in the Morning, cohost Mike Golic spoke with the fill-in cohost Erik Kuselias about McNabb. And here's the question, Golic to Kuselias: "When he finally does hang 'em up, either leaving Philadelphia or retiring from the game, you have to look back kinda with a funny face at his career in Philadelphia and how he was treated there. It really is somewhat amazing at times how McNabb is treated in Philadelphia."

KUSELIAS: He's had a wild career.

GOLIC: Yeah.

KUSELIAS: He's had a public fight with Rush Limbaugh, I don't mean the two of them, it was a polarizing issue. He's a had a public fight with T.O. He's been sort of underrated in his own city and maybe overrated nationally at the same time, it's been crazy!

RUSH: What was that? Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa hold it a minute. Is he still working there? Erik Kuselias has just said Donovan McNabb has been overrated nationally. Erik Kuselias just said that McNabb's been overrated nationally. Erik, if they zap you outta there, call me. I got some ideas.

A Question on Conservatism and Constitutional Amendments
There should be no litmus tests for conservatives.
February 12, 2010

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Francis, Nashville, Tennessee, welcome to the EIB Network. Hello.

CALLER: I'm trying to stop laughing after that one. You may be able to help me, Rush. Most people I know are absolutely convinced that I'm a full-fledged conservative because I've been listening to you for about ten years, and I agree with you about 98 and a half percent of the time --

RUSH: Well, that pretty much seals the deal.

CALLER: Well, see, I only disagree with you on the rare occasions that you're wrong, but, you know, I grew up in a very liberal Democratic background and what I've learned especially in the last ten years or so is that everything I was taught to believe about liberals and conservatives turns out to be exactly the opposite. When you grow up being a liberal, you think that liberals are in favor of individual liberty and freedom and are opposed to oppression and tyranny and all that, and what I've learned more and more is that it's really just the opposite. If somebody had said to me in 1992, "Rush Limbaugh," I would have said, "Oh, he's just some right-wing nutcase, isn't he?" Of course I had never actually listened to you in 1992 and I think that one of the things about liberals is they kind of parrot stuff that they've been taught almost robotically without ever questioning it or analyzing it.

RUSH: Oh, yeah, there's no question about that.

CALLER: So here's where I need your help. This is the question. Can I be a conservative and yet be opposed to amending the federal Constitution to prohibit abortion and to prohibit homosexual marriage?

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: I can?

RUSH: Yeah, conservatism is not something that excludes -- there's no litmus test here. I tell you, abortion, the only choice that the Democrats and the left are going to allow before it's all over is abortion, it's the only choice they're going to allow. But, you know, gay marriage, both of those things are not going to be solved by amending the Constitution and nobody is trying to. Those things are going to be solved or dealt with at the state level, and they're not going to be pleasing to people. Those are cultural issues, the so-called social issues which a lot of Republicans want nothing to do with. But still, those are things the people of the country ought to vote on via the elected leaders that they send to various state legislatures around the country. We've never voted on abortion. You know, abortion does not nearly roil the British society like it does ours because they voted on it there. It was not imposed by a Supreme Court, nine people wearing black robes. Gay marriage, there's a political issue behind gay marriage, the militant homosexual community has been pushing the envelope on a lot of things, but the way to deal with all of these is to have the people of the country or various states vote on them, and that's --

CALLER: Yeah, I agree with you at the state level, not at the federal.

RUSH: Right. Of course you're going to get people arguing, "Well, if one state allows gay marriage and 48 don't, are you saying every gay that wants to get married has to go to that state?" Well, yeah, at some point. That's what the practical end result of it would be. It's still going to be a controversial issue because where the states that have voted to make it illegal the gays are going to continue to press and force the issue so that they can change the vote there, which is what the country is all about.

CALLER: Okay. Well, you've relieved me. Just tell me one other thing. Why is it called conservatism, and not conservativism, we don't have liberism, we have liberalism.

RUSH: Well, that's just word structure, that has nothing to do with changing the meaning or deflecting it or hiding it, it's like why do we call the Democrat Party the Democratic Party, and the Republican Party not the Republicanic Party.

CALLER: Okay.

RUSH: See, I call the Democratic Party the Democrat Party, and they get ticked off because they like the illusion of Democratic. Democratic Party, Democratic National Convention. So I call 'em Democrat Party, Democrat National Convention and they get livid about it all the time.

A Rush Baby Named After Rush
Usually it's just dogs that people name after El Rushbo!
February 12, 2010

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: It's El Rushbo, behind the Golden EIB Microphone. And we go to Austin, Nevada. This is Nick. Thank you for calling, sir. You're up.

CALLER: Rush, awesome to talk to you today.

RUSH: Thank you, sir.

CALLER: Hey, I've got a series of quick examples that could kind of make a nice little package as to why liberalism, statism, Marxism, is going to fail, and it all starts out with -- if you have a minute.

RUSH: Yeah, go right ahead. Zip through it for me.

CALLER: Okay. Just a few years ago I decided to improve my knowledge of my trade and moved to England to study, and when I went there I learned some things. Number one, I learned that during the first century AD, it was warm enough in England that the Romans had vineyards to produce wine. And only in the last 30 years have they been able to start growing grapes again in England to produce wine.

RUSH: Yeah, that's true, the Romans wouldn't go anywhere you couldn't grow wine grapes.

CALLER: Absolutely they wouldn't. That was a staple for them. Number two, when we there my wife was pregnant, and we experienced a bit of their national health care system. And instead of having a child there for free, we came home and without insurance I paid out of pocket to have our child here in the States because of how much better it is here. And then lastly, we decided, when our first son was born, we decided to name him Rush --

RUSH: Whoa.

CALLER: -- after you.

RUSH: Whoa!

CALLER: We've taken it on ourselves to teach all of our children -- we have three and one on the way -- we're teaching them all conservative principles. Now, the reason why I say this is a neat little package for why liberalism and statism is going to fail is because, number one, any brief review of history can teach you the flaws and the falsehoods in liberal ideology.

RUSH: Well, not to douse cold water on you, that's true, but the public education system is not teaching those things.

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: People have to be exposed to them outside the public school system.

CALLER: That's true, Rush. But then that comes to my last point which I'll make now instead of at the end is that parents who teach their children correct principles, constitutional values and the way to govern themselves are also those who don't abort their children.

RUSH: Well, obviously. I mean you can't teach an aborted child anything.

CALLER: That's right. So, you know, by just a series of tests, looking at how -- you know, and anybody who's experienced liberalism at its peak, you know, such as a national health care plan, doesn't want any part of it. People don't want it. They don't enjoy it. It's not a good system, it's not beneficial.

RUSH: Well, that's true, when they find out -- and that's what's happening here. There is an awakening going on, there's no question about that, there's no question you're right about that. Look, I'm glad you called, Nick, thanks very much. I'm honored you named a child after me, not a dog. Most people name their dogs after me, but this guy named a human being after me! I mean that is an honor. I appreciate that, I really do.

Gov. Chris Christie (R-NJ):  He's the One We've Been Waiting For
Finally, there is somebody doing what must be done.
February 12, 2010

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Chris Christie, New Jersey governor, has frozen spending. The state's budget is in shambles. He has sliced into the school surpluses, the New Jersey transit subsidies. The Democrats are furious. They're furious because he's doing exactly what he promised he would do. This is the common sense we've been waiting for. We weren't waiting for somebody to lower the seas; we were waiting for an elected official in an executive branch to lower the sea of red ink and to get some sensibility back to budgeting. We were waiting for a leader with guts to heal the spending sickness that grips bureaucrats and big spenders in legislature after legislature after legislature. This is the kind of thing the tea party people are demanding.

And this, my friends, I hope is just the beginning. Every state is going to have to face tough decisions and they're going to be state workers, many of them union workers, they're going to get laid off. They can't keep bailing them out from the federal government. It isn't gonna fly. Budgets are going to have to be balanced to avoid bankruptcy, and every time a state's governor takes the lead in returning fiscal sanity to his or her state, Barack Obama's going to be made to look that much weaker and that much more ineffective. Governor Chris Christie, there is time to save the country. This is what a rescue looks like. This is exactly what a rescue looks like. And, by the way, I have to point this out, ladies and gentlemen, because I'm a sharp observer of things. Christie's moves of all these budget freezes, during these recent snow emergencies, they told all nonessential federal and local government employees to stay home. Now, in Washington that totaled 240,000 people, a vast majority of them turned out to be nonessential. This is inescapable logic. So why do we have any nonessential government workers at any level? Two-hundred-forty-thousand for three straight days stayed home during the blizzards in Washington and they made the mistake of telling us all nonessential federal local government employees stay home, and look how many of them there are.

I got an idea to balance our budget. It's just taking right after the model here of Chris Christie. Do you realize, folks, how ridiculous and unsustainable and obscene it is that we have been presented a budget with a $1.6 trillion deficit, spending $3.4 trillion, $3.6 trillion? Three-point-six trillion with a $1.6 trillion deficit? One-point-six trillion? When Ronald Reagan left office in 1989 the federal budget was not even one trillion. It was close, but it wasn't even one trillion. Now, what was the federal budget in 2007? Which was a pretty good year, was it not? Unemployment was down, Social Security was working out just fine, it was $2.5 trillion. We could balance the budget right now if we would just reduce spending to what it was in 2007. Are you trying to tell me that we cannot forget what we have spent the following three years, just the past three years, the country will not function if we do that? This is so absurd, it is ridiculous that we are facing this. But at least Governor Christie is showing the way. The state's budget is in shambles. The liberals are squealing like stuck pigs, but he's doing exactly what people elected him to do.

"The governor also cut state subsidies to New Jersey Transit, saying it needs to become fiscally efficient. 'Revisit its rich union contracts,' Christie said. 'And they may also have to consider service reductions or fare increases.'" Ladies and gentlemen, is it wrong to love another man? Because I love Chris Christie. Taking on rich union contracts, this is what is going to have to be done at the state and city level to balance these budgets in the states and cities and counties. That's where all of this waste is, that's where all the stimulus money went that was spent last year. It went to bail out states to make sure that public employee union people were not laid off. But the day is coming. So the Obama budget has two-and-a-half trillion dollars of taxes, that's what they estimate, with $3.6, 3.8 trillion dollars of spending.

Thomas G. Donlan of Barron's, February 8th issue, page 47: tax revenues expected to reach two-and-a-half trillion dollars next year, pretty much what the government spent in 2007. So? 2007 was a good year, pretty good year. Three years ago, just three years ago before the liberals took Congress, this is the key, 2007 is when Pelosi and the Democrats took over the House to join the Democrats in the Senate, and you look at the explosion since 2007. They turned a manageable deficit into a $1.6 trillion nightmare. So we have a really solid idea here, a rallying cry that could unite the Republicans and the conservatives and the tea party and the independents and even some liberals, those who pay taxes. Just roll back spending to 2007 levels before Pelosi took over. Roll back spending to 2007 before Pelosi and the Democrats wrecked the US budget. In other words, roll back Pelosi. Say it together, folks, say it: Roll back Pelosi! Say it with me: roll back Pelosi. Because that's where the damage began, and it has been expanded by Obama and Democrat control of the Senate. It is obscene. Roll back Pelosi.

2010 Theme:  Roll Back Pelosi
Begin to reverse what started with the 2006 election.
February 12, 2010

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: We just about missed this story. We almost missed this, February 7th in the Cincinnati Enquirer: "Northside Stimulus Bogs Down -- Last July, Vice President Joe Biden stood in front of a hulking, five-story abandoned factory in Northside with good news: The federal government had approved $1.6 million in stimulus money to help transform the American Can Building into new stores and apartments. The project would create 100 construction jobs -- proof, Biden said, that the stimulus was putting people to work. Seven months later, the project remains stalled, and has yet to make good on that promise." The problem? Are you sitting down? "While $1.6 million in federal money will help the developer clean up the site, the project still needs more than $4 million in private capital to get going, and so far, banks have been unwilling to lend it. The vice president’s office conceded that the project has not moved as quickly as hoped ... 'But we didn’t get in this economic mess overnight, and we aren’t going to get out of it overnight.'" What an abject fool, Joe Biden.

Let's take a look. Roll back Pelosi. Federal spending, 2007, two and a half trillion dollars, great year. Look at what it is now. Let's compare things. In the 2006 midterm elections, the Democrats took back control of Congress. In January of '07 the Dow Jones Industrial Average was 12,398. Current is 10,000, down 2,000 points, 2,400. In January '07, the employment rate, 4.6%. Today, 10%. The federal deficit, January '07, $162 billion. Today, one and a half trillion. Federal debt, January '07, $8.7 trillion. Current, $12.3 trillion. Three years of damage unlike we have never seen, the Democrats and total control of the US Congress. All right, to the phones we go.

This is Rhett in Charlotte, North Carolina. Great to have you on the program, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Hello, Rush, and dittos from the Tar Heel State. And I just want to tell you, I appreciate you taking my call. I also want to thank the men and women of the US military for their service for our country. And here's my question, and I got a comment afterwards if I can make it.

RUSH: Sure.

CALLER: The midterm elections, the Blue Dog Democrats, I want to know if you think we will see a major defection in their ranks to change party affiliation now that they see the true Trotskyist agenda of Obama and because of his expansionist win at all costs ideology, can we trust 'em?

RUSH: It's going to be real interesting to see. I have been warning the Blue Dogs that they're not going to be able to vote for any of these Obama agenda items and go home and pretend that they are fiscal conservatives. A number of Democrats have already switched parties or announced that they're going to. I think as we get closer to November and the unraveling of the Obama agenda continues -- I don't know if they're going to change parties or not, or if they just quit, I really don't know. But there's going to be a major upheaval, and they're going to know it, and it will dictate what they're going to do. What is your comment?

CALLER: Well, I just wanted to tell you that right now we've got the birthers of the tea party and the Tenthers of the Tenth Amendment but I don't know if they've coined you as one of the truth-tellers of our time for the conservative movement, but I consider you right up there with Joe Wilson of South Carolina and also Justice Alito, because you all are exposing Barry for what he is. He's not telling the American people the truth. It's somewhat of a political equivalent of the emperor isn't wearing any clothes. And that's the first step for America to take back this country is to realize we have a problem and I just want to tell you thanks for everything that you do.

RUSH: Thank you, sir. Thanks very much.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: To Palm Springs, this is Steve, great to have you on the program, sir. Hi.

CALLER: Rush Hudson Limbaugh, how are you doing, sir?

RUSH: Mmm, mmm, mmm.

CALLER: Mmm, mmm, mmm. Hey, the wife and I had a conversation last night before I get to my point, I told her I'm going to be on the Rush show tomorrow, might want to listen in, and she said, "Well, it's not like you're going to be talking to God." And I said, "Well, I talk to God every day. It's not every day I got to talk to Rush Limbaugh."

RUSH: (laughing) Whoa.

CALLER: (laughing) Rush, hey, listen, man, I'm a pipeline contractor out here in Southern California. And you're right on the money about these unions just taking all this shovel-ready money that's available for me to go out and get, so I can go hire and get my tax credit from Obama. (coughs) Excuse me. I'm feeling a little sick today. All this money's going straight to the unions. They're the only people that can handle it. And me as a entrepreneur --

RUSH: Right. So you're telling me, you're in a shovel-ready business, you're a contractor.

CALLER: Yeah, absolutely, and believe you me, I work alongside union contractors all the time, and they would like nothing better just for me to fall off the face of the earth, which brings me to my next thought --

RUSH: Well, I mean those are people that could make that happen. You gotta be on guard.

CALLER: Yeah. Yeah. Well, one thing you bring the slogan back, roll back Pelosi. Well, this is coming straight from my heart. I believe with every fiber of my being that Obama wants me, an entrepreneur in the construction industry to fail.

RUSH: You know what? I don't blame you for thinking that. And I hope more and more people understand, whether he wants it to be the case or not, he's making it the case. He's causing it to happen. That ought to be enough to stop this.

RUSH: We finally got hold of the Bloomberg story, I printed it out today, the interview that Obama gave in which he said he liked Goldman Sachs and JP Morgan getting big bonuses. (paraphrasing) "Those are savvy guys. I know both those guys," and of course the left had a cow. That whole thing prints out to 13 pages. It is striking. When you read this -- and it would take me too long to go through the excerpts of all this thing -- when you read the Bloomberg piece that came out today, you are struck by two things. This guy has an arrogance and a superiority complex like I have never seen, coupled with an acute, abject, total ignorance of how business operates, how it runs, what the principles are. The guy is an absolute disaster. He's got this personality trait of utter elitism, superiority, smarter, better than everybody else, we are so lucky to have him, he inherited all these problems, and as he makes these problem worse he's saving us, and he doesn't have the slightest bit of understanding.

It's not really hard to understand that he doesn't understand it because he's never been in business, and nobody in his administration ever has! They're a bunch of theoreticians who hate it. Professors, a bunch of professors who deal in theory all the time. Did you ever see the Rodney Dangerfield movie, Back to School? One of my favorite portions of that movie, got this stuffy, pipe smoking professor, arrogant, condescending, the leather patches on the tweed jacket on the elbows, has this British accent, the air of superiority about him and he's putting down theory on the chalkboard of how businesses work and Rodney Dangerfield is a successful waste management guy [sic] who is going back to school to try to get closer to his son who's at the same school. You gotta watch this. Sam Kinison has a pretty small role but it's hilarious. So this guy, the professor also hates Rodney Dangerfield, because Rodney Dangerfield's made a move on the professor's girlfriend, Sally Kellerman, and she kind of likes Rodney Dangerfield. He's a standard, ordinary businessman, a little rough around the edges. He's got a sleazy, slick-looking chauffeur. He brings in Kurt Vonnegut to write his finals papers because he doesn't want to do the studying. And Vonnegut gets a D, by the way. (laughing) Rodney Dangerfield chews him out and fires him.

But during this business class, this stuffy, arrogant, condescending professor is describing on the chalkboard how business works and how you go get money to start it and the capital here and capital there, and after he finishes, "Any questions, class?" And Rodney Dangerfield puts his hands up and says, "You left a whole lot of stuff out here." "You want to enlighten us, sir?" "Well, yeah, before you can do any of that, you gotta go talk to the people who are going to take your trash away and if you think that's easy, you gotta be prepared to do some stuff under the line and you gotta be able to go behind closed doors because if you don't get those people on your side your business is never going to open." And he says, "We don't run businesses in our classroom like yours." He just kept making mincemeat out of the professor because the professor -- it's great -- it's funny as hell because it was a clear illustration, even though it's a movie, of somebody in the business world telling a professor who drives his cheap, little, tiny MG around smoking his pipe, who doesn't have the foggiest idea how business works, he's teaching it, versus a guy who's in the business world, is a multi, multimillionaire success at it. And of course the professor tells the businessman he doesn't know what he's talking about. And this is what we face now. Obama is that professor. When you read this interview at Bloomberg, it's dangerous, it is really dangerous. The people that elected this guy owe us big time.

RUSH: By the way, I need to correct myself, a rare error but it will not subtract from my accuracy rating. Thanks, by the way, Francis, for the call. I made an error of fact. Rodney Dangerfield is not in the waste removal business in the movie Back to School. He runs a big and fat clothing store, a men's big and tall shop, a series of them all over the country. Now, we have tracked down that segment of the movie. It's a ribald movie, and it's a movie, Rodney Dangerfield is a ribald comedian, we're going to have to bleep out just a few expressions that he uses in it but we're preparing it right now and you'll be able to hear it very soon here on the EIB Network.

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: This is the scene where real life meets the economics professor, Rodney Dangerfield's first economics class with the elite professor in The Movie Back To School.

PROFESSOR: First off, by looking at construction costs of our new factory.

DANGERFIELD: Uh, what's the product?

PROFESSOR: That is immaterial for the purposes of our discussion here, but if it makes you happy, let's say we're making tape-recorders.

DANGERFIELD: Tape-recorders? Are you kidding? That's (bleep) gonna kill us on the labor costs.

PROFESSOR: Okay. Fine. Then let's just say they are widgets.

DANGERFIELD: What's a widget?

PROFESSOR: It's a fictional product. It doesn't matter.

DANGERFIELD: Doesn't matter. Tell that to the bank.

SON: Easy, take it easy. It's the first day.

PROFESSOR: On the board you will see a cost analysis for the construction of a 30,000 square foot facility which will encompass both factory and office space and is fully serviced by all utilities, a railroad spur line, and a four-bay shipping dock.

DANGERFIELD: Hold it, hold it. Why build? You're better off leasing at a buck and a quarter, a buck and a half a square foot, take your down payment and put it into CDs or something else you could roll over every couple of months.

PROFESSOR: Thank you, Mr. Mellon, but we'll be concentrating on finance a little later in the term. For the time being, let's just concentrate on the construction figures, shall we? You will see the final bottom line requires the factoring of not just the material and the construction costs, but also the architect's fees and the cost of land servicing.

DANGERFIELD: Oh-ho, you left out a bunch of stuff.

PROFESSOR: Oh, really? Like what, for instance?

DANGERFIELD: First of all, you're going to have to grease the local politicians for the sudden zoning problems that always come up. That is the kickback for the carpenters. And if you plan on using any cement in this building, I'm sure the teamsters like to have a little chat with you, and that will cost you. Ho, and don't forget a little something for the building inspectors. Then there's the long-term costs, such as waste disposal. I don't know if you are familiar with who runs that business, but I assure you it's not the Boy Scouts.

PROFESSOR: That will be quite enough Mr. Mellon. Maybe bribes and kickbacks and Mafia payoffs are how you do business, but they are not part of the legitimate business world, and they're certainly not part of anything I am teaching in this class. Do I make myself clear?

DANGERFIELD: Sorry, just trying to help, that's all.

PROFESSOR: Now, notwithstanding Mr. Mellon's input, the next question for us is where to build our factory.

DANGERFIELD: How about fantasy land?

RUSH: Rodney Dangerfield. That professor, that's Obama. When you read this Bloomberg piece, Obama doesn't even know that much!

BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Laura in Erie, Pennsylvania, you're next on Open Line Friday. Hi.

CALLER: Hi, Professor Limbaugh. Thank you for educating us on conservative values.

RUSH: Thank you.

CALLER: It's a benefit to individuals and society.

RUSH: Thank you. Thank you very he very much.

CALLER: Well, you're such a hero to us. Anyway I wanted to give you two examples with regard to Mr. Obama, President Obama, saying that small businesses aren't hiring because they're not getting loans. One example is a friend of mine whose husband owns a business, and he is saying that he is not going to be hiring because he doesn't know what the health care bill will demand as an employer for how many people he has to cover. I don't know what the specifics are, but over 25-employee businesses have to come up with more money for the health care. Along with another example that in our clinic, we were going to merge with -- like a satellite clinic, we were going to merge -- with a bigger business doctor, OB-GYN and the person that was looking at the merger said, "We've gotta be very careful because as this health care bill is coming up we will only hire a certain amount. We are not going to be increasing employees until we know what's in the health care bill." So two timely examples that Mr. Obama does not know what he's talking about and that you are right on that issue because there are plenty of small business people that are waiting to hear what new taxes, what new burdens they're going to have in this health care language. And you're right again.

RUSH: Well, thank you. I would love to take credit here but it doesn't take much to be right about this. When I heard him say that small businesses have enough profits now to pay their employees, that they can't grow because they're not getting loans, I was rendered almost speechless for the first time in the 20-plus years I've been hosting this program. The level of conceit that's combined with utter ignorance is just frightening. It's shocking. It's breathtaking, and if you read -- and we're going to link to it today at RushLimbaugh.com 'cause, folks, I do not have the time to read it. It prints out to 13 pages. Well, it does to me because I raised the font size to make it easier to read here on the fly, but it's at least ten pages when you print this out. It's in BusinessWeek. "My policies are not anti-business," Obama says. Let me just read you a couple things here because this piece is so rich.

The guy, when you read this, you can't escape that he thinks he's the best thing that ever happened to this country and that he knows exactly what he's talking about, knows what businesses ought to do. And it's clear he's clueless, combined with this arrogant superiority conceit that he's got. It's just amazing. "Two things troubled President Barack Obama as he greeted Bloomberg BusinessWeek on Feb. 9 for a wide-ranging interview in the Oval Office. First was the snowstorm that had crippled Washington. 'I can't believe I have to shut down the federal government for a week for this,' said the president." He didn't. The Office of Personnel Management is in charge of this. But still, oh, woe is me! "'I can't believe I gotta shut down the federal government because of this.' ... Obama's second concern is more frustrating and far less likely to melt away: the impression that his Administration -- and he personally -- is anti-business.

"At least on this day, business and the economy topped Obama's agenda. Twenty steps from the Oval Office, GE's (GE) Jeff Immelt, Honeywell's (HON) David Cote, and several other CEOs huddled with White House officials to provide industry input on climate change." Here might be, ladies and gentlemen, our first clue: There is no reason to take these people out of their businesses and have them wasting time on a stupid crap-and-tax bill because it is all based on a scam, a scam being run by Obama to tax businesses even more for breathing! How anti-business can you get? He says he's not anti-business and he's got these guys in there advising him on how to get his cap-and-tax thing passed. "With his economic council waiting outside, Obama repeatedly expressed his disappointment that policies he believes are overwhelmingly pro-business have been misunderstood." Oh, cool.

See, once again, ladies and gentlemen, you and I are too stupid to know what he's doing only because he's not said, "Let me be clear" enough times. "Let me be clear. Let me be clear," as he clouds and murks things up. And he has this favorite guy he talks about, his straw man. "There are those who say that we just must do nothing," when nobody is saying we should do nothing! "There are those who say" blah, blah, blah. He makes up these people that don't exist to bounce things off of. "...Obama repeatedly expressed his disappointment that policies he believes are overwhelmingly pro-business have been misunderstood. Obama even had a staffer send a follow-up e-mail to a question about CEOs he admires with additional names, including Cote, Verizon's (VZ) Ivan Seidenberg, and John Doerr of Kleiner Perkins Caulfield & Byers." Okay! Damn it, folks, that proves it. A staffer e-mail is all I need to know that Bam loves business. How about you? He has a staffer send some e-mails to some CEOs. Okay, Obama digs business! Then it starts with the excerpts of the conversation -- and I, frankly, as I said I'm looking for a really, really relaxed and peaceful weekend and I don't want to go any further than this. We'll link to it at RushLimbaugh.com. But you'll conclude what I have, and that is that he's clueless. Dangerously, dangerously clueless.

Caller Suggests Camelnot Parody
This story doesn't have a happy ending for Democrats.

RUSH: Joseph in Vancouver, great to have you on the EIB Network, sir. Hello.

CALLER: Oh, my God, Rush, this is the greatest honor of my life.

RUSH: Thank you. Thank you very much. I appreciate that. I understand it, too.

CALLER: I'm 56. I travel all over the world, and I'm an educator, and I've also been in business, so I've been on both sides of this thing, and I teach theater, and I'm calling about the Camelot allegory.

RUSH: Oh, yes.

CALLER: Well, you know, it's a perfect myth to address this whole thing with Obama because if you follow the whole play to the end, at the end Camelot is destroyed by the illegitimate son of King Arthur and a tryst with queen of the fairies.

RUSH: Yes. Yes!

CALLER: And that's Mordred, and he comes back in and he attacks Camelot and destroys it. And he sings this song called the Seven Deadly Virtues, and it would be like a perfect thing for Obama's voice to be singing that, it's incredible. And you have King Arthur would have been I guess Kennedy, and Lancelot would be Clinton, and Carter is the crazy King Pellinore, who's the guest of King Arthur. So I mean the allegory is perfect.

RUSH: Well, who would Obama be? Queen of the fairies?

CALLER: Obama is Mordred.

RUSH: Who?

CALLER: Mordred.

RUSH: Mordred.

CALLER: The illegitimate son who destroys Camelot.

RUSH: For the sake of peace for me over the weekend, would you spell fairies as in queen of fairies?

CALLER: I think her name is Morgause. All you have to do is get the script for Camelot --

RUSH: No, no, no. I totally understand. But you said queen of fairies.

CALLER: Yeah. King Arthur went into the forest and was subdued by trickery, witchcraft, and then the queen --

RUSH: Yeah.

CALLER: -- had a relation with him, and the child of that illegitimate relationship was Mordred.

RUSH: Right, but she was queen of what, the fairies, I just need you to spell fairies.

CALLER: Fairies, like the mythical the Tinker Bells that are in the forest.

RUSH: Oh, f-a-i-r-i-e-s.

CALLER: Yes.

RUSH: Okay.

CALLER: Fairies.

RUSH: Because he said it.

CALLER: (laughing) What?

RUSH: (laughing) I just want a peaceful weekend.

CALLER: Okay, well, thank you so much. It's a great honor to be on your show.

RUSH: Joseph, that's great. It's a great idea, and we've got just the guy to put this together, just the guy. Paul Shanklin, white comedian, to put this together. You know we're calling it Camelnot now because the last Kennedy is leaving Congress, the last Kennedy is leaving Washington.

CALLER: Camelot ends with a horrible ending. Why would they choose that for the allegory of their, you know --

RUSH: Well, you know, they didn't choose that until after JFK was assassinated, and I think it was Jackie O and Ted Sorensen who came up with that.

CALLER: The ending is not good.

RUSH: Manufacture a public image. It was great marketing at the time, and the press, the press is still longing for the next one. They thought they had it with the Clinton administration, but that kind of went down the tubes with the semen stained blue dress.

Lawrence O'Donnell Loses It
Former West Wing writer melts down on MSNBC.
February 12, 2010

VIDEO at link below.

BEGIN TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: You know, we've got three sound bites of Lawrence O'Donnell literally going postal without the weapon on MSNBC this morning talking to a guy named Marc Thiessen, who is a former Bush speechwriter.  And O'Donnell loses it.  He says that Bush invited 9/11.  He has become a truther!  It is phenomenal to hear this.  We'll do it after the break here.
BREAK TRANSCRIPT

RUSH: Here now we have these three sound bites. Lawrence O'Donnell, who used to be a consultant and writer for the TV show West Wing (which liberals thought really was the government with Martin Sheen as the president during the Bush years), and he's on with a former Bush speechwriter, Marc Thiessen. I hope I'm pronouncing Thiessen's name right: "Thee-sen." It might be "Thi-sen," but I've never heard it pronounced so I'm just wild guessing out there based on the way I was educated, the way words are structured, and the way you pronounce them based on where consonants and vowels fall. But people sometimes, in their own names, disregard those rules and come up with any pronunciation they want, like "Ludacris." Nevertheless, his book is Courting Disaster: How the CIA Kept America Safe and How Barack Obama is Inviting the Next Attack. Joe Scarborough: "So let me ask you, Marc. You heard Jane Mayer say yesterday that, 'My gosh, there's no difference between reading somebody their Miranda rights and what the military did as far as performance goes,' so why was Jane Mayer wrong yesterday, in your opinion?"

THIESSEN: You gotta think back to the period after 9/11. We didn't even know who hit us. We didn't know that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed was the mastermind of 9/11 or the operational commander of Al-Qaeda. And then we started rounding up these terrorists. We caught Abu Zubaydah. We caught Ramzi Binalshibh and KSM. And these guys provided us information, under questioning by the CIA, that stopped a number of terrorist attacks. They were planning to blow up the US Consulate in Karachi, Pakistan. They were planning to blow up our Marine camp in Djibouti. They were well on their way to recruiting a cell of terrorists who were going to fly an airplane into Heathrow Airport and buildings in downtown London, and they were going to -- And KSM had recruited a cell of Southeast Asian terrorists called the "Guraba" cell, because he knew we'd be on the lookout for Arab men, to fly an airplane into the Library Tower in Los Angeles, the tallest building on the West Coast. This program is why we did not have another 9/11 after the attack.

RUSH: Now, remember, the title of his book is: How Obama is Inviting the Next Attack. Lawrence O'Donnell now responds and starts to lose it.

O'DONNELL: You as a former, uh, speechwriter in the White House, you took an oath of office when you took that job that you might or might not remember. (screaming) You actually publish a BOOK that says that the president of the United States -- on its title! The president is inviting the next attack. Isn't...it...true that the --

THIESSEN: Lawrence? Lawrence, it's the morning.

O'DONNELL: -- president you work for invited the first attack the --

THIESSEN: Lawrence, that's ridiculous.

O'DONNELL: -- by having no idea what was going on with Al-Qaeda?

THIESSEN: That is ridiculous.

O'DONNELL: You just admitted that the --

THIESSEN: All right. Please.

SCARBOROUGH: Lawrence, let him answer.

O'DONNELL: -- when you were hit on 9/11, you just said, we didn't know who hit us.

THIESSEN: Here's the record, Lawrence.

O'DONNELL: (screaming) You said, we didn't know who hit us!

THIESSEN: Lawrence?

SCARBOROUGH: Let him answer.

O'DONNELL: You were told who was going to hit you --

THIESSEN: Lawrence? Lawwwwwwwrence?

O'DONNELL: -- before we were hit on 9/11 --

SCARBOROUGH: Let him answer.

THIESSEN: Do conservatives get to talk on this show, at all?

O'DONNELL: -- AND YOUR ADMINISTRATION --

THIESSEN: Lawrence? Lawwwwwwwrence?

O'DONNELL: -- INVITED THE FIRST ATTACK --

SCARBOROUGH: Lawrence, let him answer.

O'DONNELL: -- FOR WHICH YOU SHOULD LIVE IN SHAME!

RUSH: Mark Thiessen next comes back at him.

THIESSEN: Listen, here's the record. When the Obama administration's approach -- the law enforcement first approach was working -- the 1993 World Trade Center bombing, the bombing of the USS Cole, the bombing of --

O'DONNELL: (screaming) TALK ABOUT THE BUSH PRESIDENCY FROM THE DAY --

THIESSEN: -- the bombing of our embassies in Karachi and the 9/11 attacks --

O'DONNELL: -- HE WAS SWORN IN UNTIL 9/11 --

SCARBOROUGH: Hold on a minute.

THIESSEN: Can I get a word in?

O'DONNELL: -- WHAT DID THE BUSH-CHENEY --

SCARBOROUGH: Wait, wait.

THIESSEN: After the CIA too over --

O'DONNELL: (screaming)

SCARBOROUGH: Let's stop.

THIESSEN: -- no attacks.

SCARBOROUGH: We're going to break right now.

RUSH: They had to stop it. Now, what's useful about this for you to hear (and for the couple of you that watched it) is you can see and hear the pent-up, nearly insane rage and hatred these people have for George W. Bush -- and they know (they know, in their hearts) that this guy Obama is putting us at great risk with all of these stupid policies: Mirandizing these people, putting them on trial in federal court and so forth; and not taking any foreign policy thing that seriously. Folks, they're at the tipping point. They are at the tipping point. None of this hope and change has worked out at all. There is no utopia. There is no profound new love and respect for America. There's nothing. Nothing! There's no health care. Gitmo is still open. Biden's still got his mouth open. You know, that's not a good thing. It's just hilarious to watch this, except you're brought back to reality by realizing just how serious all the consequences are.
