A lead sling bullet inscribed with the name of Julius Caesar has been discovered in the countryside of Montilla, located in Andalusia, Spain. The discovery is the first example of a sling bullet to bear Julius Caesar's name abbreviated with CAES, along with a second inscription with the place name of IPSCA, a Roman city that stood on the border of what is now the territory of Baena...During antiquity, the sling became a common weapon used in Ancient Greece and the Roman period, with the Roman Army adopting slings to be used by skirmishers...It is possible that the sling bullet found...

'The inscriptions were part of psychological warfare... to terrorize the opponent and unite the warriors'A 2,200-year-old lead sling bullet was recently discovered by the Israel Antiquities Authority (IAA) in the central Israeli city of Yavne, bearing a magic inscription for victory and which possibly belonged to a Greek soldier. On the bullet is the Greek inscription "Victory of Heracles and Hauronas" – a pair of gods that were considered to be the "divine patrons of Yavne during the Hellenistic period," according to Prof. Yulia Ustinova from southern Israel’s Ben Gurion University of the Negev."Actually, the inscription on a sling bullet is...

I live out in the country. My TV options suck. No cable and only Dish Network or DirecTV (AT&T). And my internet options sucked even bigger. Satellite service with maybe 25 mbps. Monthly costs were about $130.00. Each. Over $260.00 a month for low rate TV and internet. But finally! My electric company finally got Fiber internet service available. Unlimited data with plans from 25 - 50 - 75 - 150 - 300 - even more mbps. So now I'm satellite free and ecstatic. I picked the 150 mbps plan at $80.00 per month. But now, what about TV? There's no cable, but...
  • Before you sign up for Disney+, use this calculator to add up the 'true' cost of your streaming [tr]

As our calculator shows, the perhaps impulsive addition of just one service to your budget can snowball into a hefty outlay over a hypothetical half-century horizon, particularly when you're looking at that "true" lifetime cost. Take someone paying for Netflix's NFLX, +0.07% standard subscription and Hulu, with no add-ons. That person is looking at a monthly bill of $18.98, and a lifetime aggregate cost of $19,264. Factor in the opportunity cost -- as represented by how much money could have been made investing that same money in the S&P 500 over those years -- and the lifetime cost balloons to...

Hulu is bumping their prices by $5. They just broke $40 for their package + live TV. Only reason why I was getting live TV was local news. Can't do an antenna (Apt building). Anyone have any experience with other services? Sling, any others? Looking for Live TV as well.

On 11 November 2018, on Sunday morning, Anders Broste was hunting with a friend. He had already harvested his deer, weeks earlier. He had an elk tag, so he had his rifle along in case he was fortunate enough to encounter an elk. He knew there were plenty of deer in the area. Broste was using two hands to move through heavy brush and alders. His friend was about a hundred and fifty yards away. It is a common and successful hunting technique.Broste saw the bear as it lifted its head from its bed. Then, the bear charged. Broste had...

Hopefully, I can get some productive answers before the self-righteous "got rid of TV years ago" crowd shows up: I got rid of satellite TV service a couple of years ago. Since then, I've used "Sling" streaming TV service and "Hulu TV" streaming TV service. I'm done with Hulu TV's ridiculous user interface, constant "streaming" screens, lack of 5.1 audio, etc. I switched to Hulu TV from Sling because Hulu had Fox News and CBS sports, neither of which I've spent much time watching. It's just not worth Hulu TV's glaring negatives. I may switch back to Sling, but I...

Meet Sling TV, an Internet-driven endeavor from DISH Network that is the first legitimate alternative to traditional cable TV. It’s a service that’s free of contracts and friendly of pricing, and it offers tantalizing flexibility to the tech-savvy user. The service needs some work before it’s ready to captivate the average user, but with evolution, it has the potential to be special. The service is currently available on a handful of devices, including Amazon’s streaming devices, iPads and iPhones, Android phones and PCs and Macs. In the coming months (and Sling’s been working quickly), it will hit the Xbox One...
  • This is Dish's Sling TV: an internet TV service that lets you stream ESPN for $20

Dish's grand experiment is called Sling TV, and before going on, we need to point out that it has very little to do with the Sling brand you may already be familiar with. There's no direct partnership with Slingbox or Sling Media, though both it and Dish are beneath a single parent company, EchoStar. So right off the bat, it's a somewhat confusing name that Dish maybe could've done better with. Another thing: though this is a service designed by and coming from Dish, you wouldn't know it without being told. The satellite provider's own logo is nowhere to be...

Henry Kissinger’s recent statement, that in 10 years Israel will cease to exist, borders on senile. Although one of his staff members denied it, Cindy Adams from the New York Post insisted: “Reported to me, Henry Kissinger has stated - and I quote the statement word for word: ‘In 10 years, there will be no more Israel’”. Kissinger is a controversial figure. He can hardly be suspected of excessive sympathy for Israel. He perhaps, inclines to the “syndrome of self-hatred” so fashionable nowadays in the Jewish elite. At the same time, Kissinger is not an exalted pop-diva, cheap populist or...
