The temple became buried around 1850 when the village became submerged due to flooding. This caused the village to relocate and the resulting build-up of sand dunes in the vicinity swallowed the temple. Due to Covid-19 lockdown, villagers who had heard tales from their elders about a lost temple decided to try and locate it themselves. CNSNews.com) - Time Magazine's decision to honor an Indian organic farming activist for her opposition to genetically modified foods is drawing fire from critics around the world who accuse Vandana Shiva of advocating a return to the "days when people died like flies." The "Green Century" special Earth Summit edition of Time Magazine named Shiva one of the environmental "heroes," and lauded her for representing "tradition's voice," by setting "an eco-friendly standard that agribusiness must show it can outperform." Shiva has campaigned against GM foods, claiming high-tech agriculture will ultimately destroy the land. She's also championed chemical-free organic farming...

First Jewish casualty in Iraq War, the grandson of a rabbi, remembered as being ‘macho yet soft-hearted.’ Mark Asher Evnin wanted to improve himself, and the world, too. At 18, after graduating from Vermont’s South Burlington High School in 32 years, the well-liked student athlete and only child of Mindy Evnin joined the Marines. So while his friends were taking freshman college courses, Mark was in basic training — much to his mother’s chagrin. “My son, a Jewish Marine, how bizarre,” Evnin told The Jewish Week Tuesday. “We come from a professional Jewish family, rabbis, cantors and biochemists.” Indeed, Mark’s...

"I am become Death, the shatterer of worlds." In the wake of 9/11, much has been written of the link between religion – specifically, Islam – and the rise of the terrorist threat: the religion of Mohammed, we are told, represents a dire threat to the West, comparable, in scope and potential lethality, to that of the old Soviet Union – perhaps greater. In recent days, we have been subjected to warnings that this threat will "inevitably" take the form of a nuclear device, detonated, perhaps, in an American city. Be that as it may, the nuclear incarnation of the...
