A Missouri man who shot and killed a Kentucky state trooper during a traffic stop Sunday was an apparent Black Lives Matter sympathizer who protested in the days after the shooting death of Michael Brown last year and attended the 18-year-old’s funeral, social media posts show. ohnson-Shanks also attended Brown’s burial and a memorial service at which Al Sharpton spoke. The Facebook account is listed under the name “Jay MileHigh.” The birthday listed on the account matches Johnson-Shanks’.

The Rev. Al Sharpton made a trip to Chicago Sunday to speak about the devastating violence that has gripped the city. Sharpton, a Baptist minister and civil rights activist, attended the 11 a.m. service at New Mount Pilgrim Church in the West Garfield Park neighborhood, where he was scheduled to preach a "special message" about violence. By the time Sharpton made his speech, six people had been killed and another 24 had been wounded in shootings across the city since Friday evening.

Father Michael Pfleger was heckled on Thursday by pro-gun advocates while he gave a message at the St. George Catholic Church in Tinley Park, Illinois. Police are investigating a shooting in Liberty City that sent a 10-year-old boy to the hospital. Investigators were at the scene in the 6300 block of Northwest 17th Court for hours Wednesday night going over every little detail, after the boy was caught in the crossfire next to the Liberty Square Community Center. Police say three people opened fire near a basketball court, striking the boy in the leg while he was riding his bike.
