Security footage captured the moment a massive house explosion killed three people and damaged at least 39 homes in the southern Indiana city of Evansville. The blast was reported around 1 p.m. on Wednesday and had a 100-foot radius, Evansville Fire Department Chief Mike Connelly said. Smaller deposits have been known in Maine for decades, but this recent discovery, just north of Plumbago Mountain in Newry, is the first to have a major resource potential.

ATHENS: A strong earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 5 struck fire-ravaged southern Greece on Tuesday, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said. There were no immediate reports of damage or injuries. The quake struck at 12:05 p.m. (0905 GMT) and had an epicentre 185 kilometers (115 miles) west of Athens, 15 kilometers (9 miles) east of Pyrgos near Ancient Olympia, the institute said. The quake panicked residents in the region and was felt in areas where fire-fighters were battling blazes.
