Earlier this month, the Pew Research Center published results of a public survey of gay tolerance in 39 countries worldwide. The numbers are fairly unsurprising: While a high proportion of respondents in Western Europe and North America answered "yes" to the question "Should society accept homosexuality?" few respondents in the Middle East and Africa agreed with them.

SNIPPET: "The forces fighting against Assad's regime in Syria include foreigners who have come to take part in the uprising alongside the Syrian rebels. Among them are members of Jordan's Salafi-jihadi movement, which, according to its senior leaders, has so far dispatched some 250 fighters to Syria.[1] As one means of encouraging Jordanian youths to join its ranks and adopt the ideology of jihad and martyrdom, the Salafi-jihadi movement stages "martyrs' weddings" for fighters killed in Syria, based on the Islamic belief that every martyr is rewarded with 72 black-eyed virgin brides in Paradise. Egyptian husbands will soon be legally allowed to have sex with their dead wives - for up to six hours after their death. The controversial new law is part of a raft of measures being introduced by the Islamist-dominated parliament. It will also see the minimum age of marriage lowered to 14 and the ridding of women's rights of getting education and employment. Egypt's National Council for Women is campaigning against the changes, saying that 'marginalising and undermining the status of women would negatively affect the country's human development'. Dr Mervat al-Talawi, head of the NCW, wrote to the Egyptian...

NOTE The following text is a quote: Pakistan's Christian 'Sex-Slaves': A Case Study by Raymond Ibrahim FrontPageMagazine.com July 5, 2011 Earlier we saw Egyptian preacher Huwaini and Kuwaiti political activist Mutairi call for the reinstitution of sex-slavery. Before dismissing their position as aberrant, that is "radical," for the record, here are respected Muslim scholar Majid Khadduri's thoughts on the matter: The term spoil (ghanima) is applied specifically to property acquired by force from non-Muslims. It includes, however, not only property (movable and immovable) but also persons, whether in the capacity of asra (prisoners of war) or sabi (women and children)....

Watch the video. The above video (transcript below) was translated from a video posted on YouTube on 25 May by a female Kuwaiti activist and former candidate for Kuwaiti parliament, Salwa al-Mutairi, in which she called for a revival of the Islamic law for sex-slaves. Later she was interviewed about this by the Kuwaiti paper al-Siyasa; the translation of a story on that interview from al-Arabiya is also included below the transcript from the video. For more on this story, you can also see the excellent articles posted by Raymond Ibrahim and Nonie Darwish a couple of weeks ago (special...

A couple weeks ago we showed you the shocking video of an Egyptian Muslim cleric advocating jihad and saying financial problems could be solved by selling captives “like groceries.” Now, that same cleric is back, and he’s supposedly claiming his words were taken out of context. But the way he’s defending himself is curious, especially when you consider it involves him justifying buying “sex slaves.” The website Translating Jihad, which first published the earlier video, explains that in the follow-up video (which consists of a 20-minute phone interview), Egyptian Shaykh Abu-Ishaq al-Huwayni contends “that his words in that clip were...

Men should be allowed sex slaves and female prisoners could do the job - and all this from a WOMAN politician from Kuwait A Kuwaiti woman who once ran for parliament has called for sex slavery to be legalised - and suggested that non-Muslim prisoners from war-torn countries would make suitable concubines. Salwa al Mutairi argued buying a sex-slave would protect decent, devout and 'virile' Kuwaiti men from adultery because buying an imported sex partner would be tantamount to marriage. And she even had an idea of where to 'purchase' these sex-salves - browsing through female prisoners of war in...
