“In the yere of Chryst 1493 or there aboute this most foule and most grievous disease beganne to sprede amonge the people,†a German scholar named Ulrich von Hutten wrote soon after the first known outbreak of syphilis swept across Europe. In his book Guns, Germs, and Steel, the historian Jared Diamond elaborated: “Its pustules often covered the body from the head to the knees, caused flesh to fall off people’s faces, and led to death within a few months.†Today, syphilis can seem like a historical relic, more likely to appear in period movies than in one’s next-door neighbor....

Slate's Mark Joseph Stern writes that "If You Are Not Comfortable Being Naked Around Other People, You Are Not an Adult" As a Little Child, My Pants Were Pulled Down. I'm age three. It's about 4:30 in the afternoon, in late July or early August. The little rectangular swimming pool is rectangular, it's dark green, heavy canvas-plastic mounted on white metal tubing with white plastic caps on the ends on the ground. There are little, elongated red rectangular seats in the corners. The pool is in the shadow of bushes from a neighboring yard to the west. I'm in the west end of the pool, facing...

Although we live in a forgetful culture, it is worth casting our minds back as far as last week. If you recall, back then we were all discussing the inability of students at Yale to cope with anything as scary as Halloween. For some of us the whole business was disturbing not so much because some brats at an Ivy League university were showing themselves unfit to be students but because the adults -- their professors -- all seemed to have surrendered to them. What else was clogging us up? Well, Caitlyn Jenner had just finished a clean-sweep of the...

Ann Barnhardt The video below surely merits an hour of your valuable time- bless your heart Ann Barnhardt- great job here. Some of it's a bit harsh, but the reality of Islam ain't pretty, truth be told. This woman is a truly inspirational warrior for Christ- we need more like her. Why doesn't Pope Francis sound more like this? The Catholic Church didn't get as rich and powerful as it is by being a milquetoast religion, after all. Of course at this time it's particularly relevant- quite a valuable education for 60 mins, and good to know what sort of people Obama's...

Sorry, Valeant. The ladies just aren’t feeling it. Addyi, the so-called “female Viagra†pill made by Valeant Pharmaceuticals’ Sprout unit, is off to a slow start, with doctors writing just 227 prescriptions in its first few weeks on the market, according to a new report. That compares to the more than half a million men who got prescriptions for Viagra in its first month on the market in 1998, Bloomberg News reported on Tuesday.

Obesity is still rising among American adults, despite more than a decade of public-awareness campaigns and other efforts to get people to watch their weight, and women have now overtaken men in the obese category, new government research shows. For the past several years, experts thought the nation's alarming, decades-long rise in obesity had leveled off. But the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said in a report Thursday that the obesity rate has climbed to nearly 38 percent of adults, up from 32 percent about a decade earlier.

In an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel’s late night talk show, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton proclaimed her election next year as "inevitable. Nominally, Bernie Sanders is still in the race, but since he virtually endorsed me at the debate I think he's seen the writing on the wall and will soon follow Webb and Chafee to the exit." She was even more dismissive of the Republican candidates calling them "an assortment of nuts oblivious to what it takes to govern. If we are to believe the polls, GOP voters are rejecting the one candidate who has a successful record of governing...

The confusion induced in these youngsters is producing one effect – the demolition of social mores and, eventually, society itself. All of it based on a fantasy of language, animal allusions and contrived sexes Efforts to infiltrate fifth and sixth grade health courses with additional classifications of sex are popping up in public schools. With the help of unfettered political correctness, the Genderbread Person and the Gender Unicorn corrupt not only the English language but the basic biology of mankind. (I suppose using the Biblical reference of “mankind†will raise hackles among the super-sensitive “gender†police.) But let’s get one...

And it turns out, they're all split on what role machines should play in future relationships. NOTE: An Alternative to the Sexy and Demonic costumes! At Halloween-time girls want to have fun and express themselves with costumes that reflect their personal energy. Most store-bought costumes for tween and teen girls exhibit T&A, rather than clever personal expression. You may have read about or maybe seen a “Sexy Cop”, or a witch dress with thigh high garters and 4” pumps. These manufactured costumes cannot help a young woman shine as an individual. Complete list of wholesome and empowering girl costumes is HERE

The idea for the conference was sparked when Cheok and Levy, two academics interested in robotics, met several years ago and realized they had goals in common. Levy, author of Love and Sex with Robots: The Evolution of Human-Robot Relationships, focuses on the brain, the software side, and the algorithms of humanoid robots. Cheok researches the hardware side from an engineering view, looking at multi-modal interfaces including communication by touch, taste, and smell. These areas of study, Cheok said, will be important in the future of robots. "A lot of the technology that's incubating in my lab will be integrated...

It is said that the way to a man’s heart is through his stomach, but a new study suggests that when it comes to sex, food is the last thing on his mind. Researchers have found that the male brain is hardwired to seek out sex, even at the expense of a good meal, with specific neurons firing up to over-ride the desire to eat. Intriguingly, women do not have the same neurons, suggesting that sex for females comes secondary to sustenance.

A sexology professor on a crusade to push gender equality and improve relationships in China held a three-day class last week to train men to be better partners. The boyfriends, husbands and fathers discussed topics like pregnancy, taking care of the home, their own relationship with their fathers, domestic violence and even some new techniques for the bedroom. While this project is in line with government policy on gender equality, in a country where traditional attitudes to relationships are common there's still a long way to go."It's part of your body now, you should treat it with love, talk to...
