The scientific community is atwitter about recent reports documenting the sharp rise in retractions of articles published in scientific journals. To wit, The New York Times published a chart this week showing that such retractions have increased from a mere three instances in 2000 to a whopping 180 in 2009. The chart indicated that 235 of the articles retracted over that ten-year span were attributable to “scientific mistake.” Another 196 were attributable to “fraud or fabrication.” And the remaining 311 to “other.” That brings to mind what arguably is history’s most glaring example of scientific mistake, fraud and fabrication all...

In all of these arguments of a political nature, what is overwhelmingly lost is the real science and hence the real truth as best we know it. Science has NOTHING to do with how many supporters you can count amongst those you deem worthy in the scientific profession. In 1905 Albert Einstein stood against the entire classical physics world with his new ideas on relativity. A few years later, a high school biology teacher from Seattle (Harlen Bretz) stood against the entire geological profession with his explanations of Pacific Northwest geology. And just a few years ago, Barry Marshall and...

Step aside, DNA—new synthetic compounds called XNAs can also store and copy genetic information, a new study says. And, in a "big advancement," these artificial compounds can also be made to evolve in the lab, according to study co-author John Chaput of the Biodesign Institute at Arizona State University. (See "Evolution vs. Intelligent Design: 6 Bones of Contention.") Nucleotides, the building blocks of DNA are composed of four bases—A, G, C, and T. Attached to the bases are sugars and phosphates. (Get a genetics overview.) First, researchers made XNA building blocks to six different genetic systems by replacing the natural...

A skilled investigative reporter has lodge a serious charge against the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) that the agency is both ignoring and hoping will go away. Josh Bernstein insists that anyone with a good fake identification card and a calm demeanor can bluff his/her way through TSA checkpoints just by making sure the name on the fake ID matches the name on his/her legitimately purchased boarding pass. Bernstein’s charges mean that since the TSA doesn’t verify passenger identities, safe flying from an American airport is a matter of luck rather a function of a diligent federal agency’s procedures. Worse than...

Since the days of Darwin, evolutionists have repeatedly had to extend the time necessary for life to have accidentally occurred. Similarly, Marxocrats keep enlarging the amount of money it will take for their lame theory to work. One thing's for sure, it's a dog eat dog world.

The lack of a government policy that promotes domestic energy independence in the United States is a tragic consequence of playing politics for decades. The current rage is the natural gas boom that offers the alternative of producing a plentiful and inexpensive source of fuel. Economic prosperity rests upon cheap and reliable power and natural gas offers the best option.

The Anglo-Saxon Chronicle states that in England 1014 AD, on the eve of St. Michael’s day (September 28, 1014) “came the great sea-flood, which spread wide over this land, and ran so far up as it never did before, overwhelming many towns, and an innumerable multitude of people.” This is clearly a reference to a tsunami similar to the one that struck Indonesia in December 2004 which killed over 250,000 people. What could have caused this tsunami? Could a meteor or comet impact in the Atlantic Ocean have been the cause? Researcher Dallas Abbott of the Lamont Doherty Earth Observatory...

Members of the anti-Christian, communist Left are obsessed with banishing the presence of Christian expression from all areas of the public square. They are probably the most fervent in this crusade in the government-run public school classrooms, where teachers are persecuted for displaying even a hint of Christianity. I have written before about a California teacher, Brad Johnson, who is fighting back against a tyrannical school district that ordered him to remove patriotic banners from his classroom walls—banners that simply included the name of God in their sayings. These banners had long been hanging in his classroom, but the God-hating...

The US Military is currently seeking a large amount of potassium iodide, this according to a listing on the FBO.gov website by the Defense Logistics Agency. In the listing it is made clear that they want to be ready in the event of nuclear fallout which has lead many to speculate that this could be in response to the Fukushima nuclear disaster or perhaps in anticipation for an attack on an active Iranian nuclear facility. The DLA is apparently looking for upwards of 400,000 dollars worth of the thyroid protecting tablets at a time when many government officials have openly...

Guest post by Dr. Roy Spencer PhD. Since NOAA encourages the use the USHCN station network as the official U.S. climate record, I have analyzed the average [(Tmax+Tmin)/2] USHCN version 2 dataset in the same way I analyzed the CRUTem3 and International Surface Hourly (ISH) data. ------------------------------------- Virtually all of the USHCN warming since 1973 appears to be the result of adjustments NOAA has made to the data, mainly in the 1995-97 timeframe. -------------------------------------- Given the amount of work NOAA has put into the USHCN dataset to increase the agreement between neighboring stations, I don’t have an explanation for this...
  • Zimmerman-Trayvon Martin Case is white-washing truth due to political, racial pressures

If Zimmerman had been African American or Trayvon Martin was Hispanic or White, this would have never surfaced as a national story. On the other hand, if Zimmerman had made the news for doing something positive, such as saving a child from a burning building, he would have surely been labeled “Hispanic.” In this case “White” is used to stir the racial pot and create more tension. It is typical of a media that is biased, liberal and irresponsible.

This is how we know that we LOVE the children of God: by LOVING God and carrying out his commands. 1 John 5:2 Last night was the first time I ever witnessed Phil Mote and his band of Merry Tricksters. How appropriate that the first thing the moderator did was to exaggerate the Warmist believers numbers at 95% when the hands looked closer to 80% which was low considering it was pretty obvious PSU was stuffing the room. Considering the Earth’s Magic Elixir show was at PSU it had to be a pretty disappointing turnout for the high priests of...

Potential military applications for 'Robojelly'  nearly as infinite as it's hydrogen energy supply... Robojelly in the lab _________________________________________________________________________________ Although still in early stages of development, researchers from Virginia Tech and UT at Dallas have created an amazing hydrogen-powered underwater drone that looks and moves like a jellyfish, pumping itself along via artificial muscles...  Robojelly is the first successful underwater robot ever created that uses external hydrogen as it's only power source, while it appears the opaque, plastic blob would be all but undetectable by the enemy when deployed for recon. The unit also holds promise for various underwater rescue/salvage operations. The...

I discussed the paper in my post “Dr. Munchausen Explains Science By Proxy“. The face of medical education is changing and patients may not like it one bit. “There is a movement towards principles and concepts rather than specific courses,” Bailus Walker, Jr. of the Howard University School of Medicine said on April 4, 2012 at a conference in Crystal City, VA. “Entrance to medical schools will be based on principles and concepts rather than biochemistry knowledge.” “The old departmental barriers and walls are coming down.” Dr. Walker thinks this is a good thing. He calls it a “convergence of disciplines.” “That will lead to more STEM education,” he said, referring to training...
