By installing charging stations across the country, Walmart makes owning an EV easier for drivers who worry they...

China’s anti-corruption watchdog has threatened Walmart Inc. with a consumer boycott, accusing the U.S. retail giant of “stupidity and shorted-sightedness” over its removal of Xinjiang-sourced products from its Sam's Club online app in response to the forced labor of religious minorities and the genocide of Uyghur Muslims. The Chinese Communist Party’s Central Commission for Discipline Inspection accused Walmart and its Sam’s Club chain of boycotting products from the northwestern region of Xinjiang and trying to “muddle through” the controversy by not responding to complaints or releasing a statement, Reuters reported. “To take down all products from a region without a...

Employees who are fully vaccinated will be permitted to work without masks starting May 18, the letter said, adding that some workers may have to continue to wear masks for health or sanitation reasons. This afternoon, over 8,000 Starbucks locations will shut their doors so employees can attend diversity training. If you're looking for your afternoon jolt, you'll have to go elsewhere. Last month, Rashon Nelson and Donte Robinson were arrested in a Philadelphia Starbucks while waiting for a business meeting. A video capturing the arrest went viral. The coffee chain's CEO, Kevin Johnson, issued a personal apology on Good Morning America, calling the incident “completely inappropriate” and “reprehensible.” “While this is not limited to Starbucks, we’re committed to being a part of the solution,” Johnson said. “Closing our stores for racial bias training...

When people go into a Starbucks, often the first thing they smell is roasting coffee. That's about to change. Starbucks, stung by phony charges of racism when two black men were arrested for camping out in a Starbucks without making a purchase, has changed its official policies. From now on, not only is anyone welcome to use a Starbucks bathroom without making a purchase, but the public is also welcome to come in and sit at tables and never buy anything. The implications of this are obvious. Some people will use tables as personal offices and never purchase anything....

Hoping to better compete with arch-rival Costco Wholesale (COST, +1.12%) and Amazon.com, Sam’s Club said on Wednesday that it’s now offering free shipping for many items to its premium members as part of a restructuring to its membership programs. The bulk retailer, a unit of Walmart Inc (WMT, +0.35%), says that the bulk of items it sells online will qualify and that there will be no minimum order size for customers who have a “Plus” membership, which costs $100 annually. Jessica Buckner, an audit team lead at a Sam's Club location in Anchorage, told local TV station KTVA that all Alaska stores are closing as part of a larger downsizing across the U.S. "From what I heard, there's over 260 stores that have been closed down," she said. The wholesale clubs' official closure date is Jan. 26, Buckner said. The closures also affect stores in New Jersey, upstate New York, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Louisiana, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas. In some locations, per social...

Sam’s Club, a unit of Wal-Mart Stores Inc, closed a series of stores following a review, the membership-only store chain said in a tweet on Thursday. Walmart is suddenly closing several Sam's Club stores across the US. Closures were reported by local media in Texas, New York, New Jersey, Indiana, Arizona, Alaska, and elsewhere. In some cases, employees were not informed of the closures prior to showing up to work on Thursday. Instead, they learned that their store would be closing when they found the store's doors locked and a notice announcing the closure, according to reports. Walmart and Sam's Club did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Sam's Club offered an explanation on Twitter, however, saying, "After a thorough review of our existing...

On Nov. 10, Michelle Holland Conner paid a visit to Sam's Club in Dothan, Alabama — a place she admitted to IJR she finds herself almost daily. As she rounded out her shopping, she heard music, which she assumed was coming from someone testing out speakers in the electronics department of the store. However, she noticed one unusual detail — it was Christian music, and people don't usually test speakers out with Christian music.
