  • Mainstream media desperate to hide Muslim faith of attackers

09/20/2016 6:29:46 PM PDT · by Red in Blue PA · 12 replies
Monday night, all three broadcast networks hid the Muslim connection until their second story on the attacks. NBC was typical. It went through one entire report on the arrest before it even mentioned Rahami’s faith. NBC anchor Lester Holt set the stage just as the other networks did, calling Rahami, “a naturalized U.S. citizen from Afghanistan.” They said nothing about his faith. Chief Foreign Correspondent Richard Engel slipped in the key detail in the second report. He talked about the family’s lawsuit against police over their restaurant. “'Muslims make too much trouble in this country,' they claimed a neighbor said.”...

(CNSNews.com) – Almost 100,000 Somali refugees have been resettled in the United States since 9/11, including 8,619 so far during the current fiscal year. The largest number – some 16 percent of the total over the past 15 years – have been resettled in Minnesota, home to the nation’s biggest Somali-American community. Of the 97,046 Somali refugees admitted to the U.S. since the fall of 2001, 99.6 percent were Muslim, and 28,836 (29.7 percent) were males between the ages of 14 and 50.

Around one in four French Muslims, mostly young people, support an ultra-conservative form of Islam, including the wearing of the full-face veil, but the vast majority accept France’s strict secular laws, a study showed Sunday. The Ifop survey carried out for a major study of French Muslims by Institut Montaigne, a liberal think-tank, showed that the vast majority of people who identify as Muslim accept curbs on religion in public. But 60 percent considered girls should nonetheless be allowed to wear the headscarf in school, 12 years after it and other religious symbols were banished from the classroom, the survey...

University of California, Berkeley administrators on Monday reinstated a Palestinian history class amid an outcry over its suspension last week. The school’s social science dean announced in letter to faculty that the ethnic studies class was reinstated after the teacher revised the course description. Social science dean Carla Hesse suspended “Palestine: A Colonial Settler Analysis” after receiving a complaint from Jewish and civil rights groups that the course syllabus appeared to describe a politically motivated, anti-Semitic class. Hesse suspended the class, saying it wasn’t properly vetted to ensure it wasn’t espousing a single political viewpoint. The suspension triggered protests from...

Speaking after multiple bombs either exploded or were found in the New York and New Jersey area, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio says authorities are seeking Ahmad Khan Rahami, 28. Both the FBI and NYPD want to question Rahami about Saturday night's explosion on West 23rd Street in Manhattan. Rahami "should be considered armed and dangerous," according to the FBI. "The important thing is to get this individual quickly and to continue to be strong and vigilant," de Blasio said via Twitter. He urged anyone with knowledge about the case to call 1-800-577-TIPS. Saturday night's blast wounded 29...

The trial begins in Bonn this week of a Syrian man who threw his three children from a first-floor window, allegedly because he disliked his wife’s desire to enjoy the same freedoms as German women. […] Prosecutors say the suspect has admitted to throwing his children out the window of the asylum accommodation, formerly a Chinese restaurant, in Lohmar. According to the indictment, the crime stemmed from the 36-year-old’s frustration with his wife, who “in Germany no longer wished to accept the roles they had at home, and did not want to put up with everything he wanted any more.”...

None of the nine people who were stabbed in Saturday night’s attack received life-threatening wounds, St. Cloud police Chief Blair Anderson said. He said it doesn’t appear that anyone else was involved in the attack at the Crossroads Center in St. Cloud, which began at around 8 p.m. and was over within minutes. […] An...

Hungary should be excluded from the European Union for anti-migrant policies that undermine EU values, including erecting a razor-wire fence, Luxembourg Foreign Minister Jean Asselborn said, provoking a scornful riposte from Budapest. The unusually strong attack came three days before a crucial summit intended to project the bloc's unity after Britain's shock decision to leave. "We cannot accept that the basic values of the European Union are being so seriously breached," Asselborn told German daily Die Welt in comments published on Tuesday. "Anyone, like Hungary, who builds fences against war refugees or breaches press freedom and the independence of the...

We have to stop these tunnels as well.” …

Chancellor Angela Merkel faces new gains by the anti-migrant AfD party in Berlin state elections on Sunday, as a wave of protest voting against her welcome to refugees is expected to hit the hip, multicultural capital. […] Fresh gains in long-divided Berlin — where the AfD has polled 14 percent, a year ahead of national elections — would spell another setback for Merkel, whose open-door policy brought one million asylum-seekers to Germany last year. […] A strong showing for the AfD — which was founded, originally as a euroskeptic fringe party, just over three years ago — would hurt all...

Republican Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC), who oversees the U.S. foreign aid budget, opined on Friday that Israel made a mistake by signing a new $38 billion security agreement with the Obama administration, The Associated Press reported. Graham said Israeli Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu could have gotten a better deal if he had waited until President Barack Obama left office. He stated that there is ample support in Congress among Republicans and Democrats for providing Israel with more military aid. And a new U.S. president, either Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump, would be more generous too, he said on a conference...

With policy splits among European Union countries putting their bloc under existential threat, national leaders agreed Friday on a six-month time table to come up with solutions for the multiple crises hobbling their union. But they delivered few concrete commitments on ways to bridge the deep differences. While not on the agenda, Britain’s decision to leave the EU hung over the meeting, reinforced by the absence of British Prime Minister Theresa May. But the 27 leaders attending talks in the Slovak capital had plenty of other divisive issues to discuss: Migration, a common European defense policy, worrying unemployment and the...

He asked God to have mercy on Europe and to show mercy to its people, which he said "are in danger of forfeiting our Christian heritage." Cardinal Schoenborn, who...
