Late last summer, with midterms consuming the attention of the political class, a group of GOP activists spent two days in Des Moines trying to convince their fellow Republicans that change was coming to their party. With eyes on 2016, they attended the Iowa State Fair, talked with newspaper editorial boards, and even ventured onto conservative talk radio. To cap it off, on the last evening, supporters gathered at 801 Chophouse, the upscale watering hole of the city's political elite, as if to announce their movement had gone mainstream. That it couldn't be dismissed as fringe any longer. Their issue,...

My question really is:Will the RNC allow biased leftist "journalists" to moderate the debates and sabotage the GOP candidates while giving a pass to, and even helping, the Dem candidate. Or have they finally wised up and will agree to participate only if conservative moderators take part in the debates. Wondering what others think about this.

I told the RNC I just give to candidates or PACS, and they had a lot of nerve calling the day after the new R majority just caved and funded Obama's amnesty.

Richard Richards, a key player in Utah Republican politics for three decades, was the first GOP chairman to endorse Ronald Reagan for president and was instrumental in Reagan's successful presidential campaign in 1980. An Ogden native who rose to become chairman of the National Republican Committee in Reagan's first term, Richards died at his home Friday. He was 82... Richards' work on Reagan's campaign earned him the chairmanship of the National Republican Committee in 1981-82.

After Republicans sent mixed signals on immigration in their two official rebuttals to President Barack Obama’s State of the Union address, Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus struggled to explain the disparity on MSNBC’s Morning Joe Wednesday. Iowa Sen. Joni Ernst’s State of the Union rebuttal made no mention of the topic, but the Spanish-language version of the rebuttal, delivered by Florida Rep. Carlos Curbelo, said Republicans wanted to work with Obama to fix the immigration system. (SNIP) When pressed further on how that explained the disparity, Priebus said, “I think we’ve been talking about this executive amnesty action that...

Mitt Romney’s opening pitch for a third shot at the White House left many Republicans scratching their heads, in part because his plans to fight poverty and tyranny seemed to borrow the lexicon of liberals like FDR, LBJ and Woodrow Wilson. With a full house of Republican National Committee members listening aboard the USS Midway in San Diego, Mr. Romney implored his party last week “to lift people out of poverty” and “to make the world safe.” The first phrase is a favorite of liberals who gush over Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s New Deal and Lyndon B. Johnson’s Great Society programs...

Fox gets three (two on Fox News, one on Fox Business), CNN gets two, and CBS, NBC, ABC, and CNBC get one apiece. MSNBC gets some magic beans. Of note: The NBC debate will be co-sponsored by Telemundo and will be held in Florida in February 2016, shortly before the primary. If Jeb Bush is still in the race by then, that’s his time to shine. Lotttt of pressure on McConnell and Boehner, meanwhile, to do something on immigration reform by then so that the remaining GOP candidates have something to tout to Latino voters tuning in.If this seems...

For most of the past year, Mitt Romney supporters have publicly said he should consider running again. And for most of the past year, Romney has seemed uninterested. Until recently. While some people close to Romney insist he hasn’t moved from saying he has no plans to run, the 2012 Republican nominee has sounded at least open to the idea in recent conversations, according to more than a dozen people who’ve spoken with him in the past month. In his private musings, Romney has sounded less than upbeat about most of the potential candidates in the 2016 Republican field, according...

In a few hours, the Republican National Committee (RNC) is going to publish -- and blast out to all its supporters -- a rare document never before seen and intercepted on its way to the North Pole: The Christmas letter Hillary Clinton "wrote" to Santa Claus this year. Townhall, we’re pleased to announce, got our hands on it first. For those interested, the entire (satirical) missive is below, which among other things not-so-subtly touches on Hillary Clinton’s greatly diminished heir apparent status, her breathtakingly absurd demands and requests on the speaking circuit, and her refusal to state her positions clearly...

Former Florida Governor Jeb Bush called on Congress to pass bipartisan comprehensive amnesty legislation after President Barack Obama unilaterally granted nearly five million illegal immigrants executive amnesty on Thursday.

Sadly, he also suggests that blanket opposition to large-scale guest-worker programs is 'getting into the weeds'... Anybody in our party talk about growth and creation of wealth anymore? Shining City on a Hill? Or is that too corny in 2014? Somehow instead we're always tangled-up with the left's agenda one way or another -back on our heels all the time while being painted as Satan by our opponents and the media for daring to oppose their inspired, visionary guidance. As always with communists, socialists, and other sordid creatures of the left, everything comes down to a zero-sum game as elements...

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus is pushing back against charges that Republicans are responsible for budget cut that have made it harder to contain the Ebola outbreak. “Obviously, this is just desperation on the part of this idiotic group,” Priebus said on Fox News’ “Fox and Friends on Tuesday, referring to the Agenda Project which released an ad that blames the GOP for slashing funding the Centers for Disease Control and the National Institutes of Health. (snip) Priebus fired back, saying, “They’re walking this dangerous path on trying to point out blame on Ebola when, in fact, if you...

To see how the politics of gay marriage has changed in this country in 11 years, revisit this Nov. 19, 2003 New York Times piece after the Massachusetts Supreme Court legalized gay marriage in the state: House Majority Leader Tom DeLay denounced what he said was a “runaway judiciary”; the Republican National Committee said the decision “could be an issue” in the upcoming presidential contest; and an aide to a Democratic presidential candidate predicted the subject “is going to come up again and again.” And, well, in 2004, a strong argument can be made....

Kansas Surprise: Orman Leads Roberts by 10 in NBC/Marist Poll BY CARRIE DANN Independent candidate Greg Orman is leading incumbent Republican Sen. Pat Roberts in Kansas by 10 points, while Democrats have a slim lead in North Carolina’s contest and both candidates are in a dead heat in Iowa’s Senate race, new NBC News/Marist polls find. The Kansas poll, which shows Roberts trailing 38 percent to Orman’s 48 percent, is full of bad news for the incumbent and for Republicans, who have suddenly seen Roberts’ sleepy re-election race turn into a very real pickup opportunity for Democrats if Orman decides...

We have been seeing America go to the "dogs" for 6 years now and still some "brain dead" fools cling to the idea that they will stay home rather than vote for a "Pubbie" that they deem a RINO.

NATIONAL REVIEW SEPTEMBER 30, 2014 12:34 PM God Save Us from the Loud 'I'm Staying Home This Year' Conservatives By Jim Geraghty A few thoughts from the middle of the day . . . God save us from self-professed "conservatives" who will announce they'll stay home on Election Day as a demonstration of their power. Because as we all know, you become more influential in politics and government and public life by staying home and doing less. .... Does the "I'm staying home" crowd apply this to everything in life? "I don't like the way the company is run, so...

We know how you slime operate, yet constitutionally-principled conservatives are only rallied to the cause when your evil monkeys toss false canards at Ted Cruz, attempting to Palinize him... and so very early, how telling. Hey Reince-wash-repeat Preibus, there's a reason I don't answer your sad-sounding emails (ever), with titles like 'Hope You Can Join Us for Lunch!', 'What's Your T-Shirt Size?', OR my personal favorite "..., did you abandon the RNC?'- Something like that-- we'll just forget you've been trying to kill us, no hard feelings, I guess- lol. Of course, I almost never even open their relentless spam, and...
