Ironically, Beza found his "signal example"8 of how to deal with tyranny and resistance not so much in the work of early Calvinists as in the work of later Lutherans—particularly the Lutheran jurists and theologians who had drafted the Magdeburg Confession of 1550. The Magdeburg Confession was a major distillation of the most advanced Lutheran resistance theories of the day.9 The leaders of the small Saxon city of Magdeburg had drafted this Confession in response to the order of the Holy Roman Emperor to impose by civil law the uniform Catholic doctrines and liturgies being crafted by the Council of...

When you woke up this morning, the last thing on your mind was probably the state of your gun rights. Maybe you own a gun, maybe you’ve never even held one. Maybe you use your gun to feed your family, shoot skeet on the weekends, or just keep in the closet for a time when you think you might need it. Some of you train with it, carry it daily, and it is simply another thing you grab in the morning along with your wallet and your keys. Whatever your familiarity with guns is does not matter. You don’t even...

Trump confidant Roger Stone talks about what one of his "operatives" uncovered by attending a planning session for ...groups planning to protest Donald Trump's inauguration. "Secret Service take notice," Stone said. "I'm happy to share this with anyone from the service who takes notice."... ROGER STONE: I do want to talk about what is coming in Washington, because it is scary. We had an operative who infiltrated the J-20 Committee planning session.... what these folks have in mind, because this is not a benign civilly disobedient protest. They intend to march from McPherson Square to Columbus. ...during the lunch period...

The subject of this book is forgetfulness. By this I do not mean our tendency to misplace valuable objects, or our inability to recall the name of the boss’s dog, but the collective and cultural amnesia the over comes any group of human beings who have long benefited from the blessings of civilization – an amnesia first observed nearly eight hundred years ago by the Arab philosopher of history Ibn Khaldun, contemplating the rise and fall of those great feats of organized life that we call by such terms as societies, states and empires. Forgetfulness occurs when those who have...

"Slamming the door in their faces would be a betrayal of our values," [Obama] said.Six Republican governors have announced that Syrian refugees won't be allowed to resettle in their states in the wake of last week's terrorist attacks in Paris. Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley issued statements Sunday saying that they wanted to prioritize the safety of the residents in their states. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott; Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, a GOP presidential candidate; Arkansas Gov. Gov. Asa Hutchinson; and Indiana Gov. Mike Pence joined them on Monday. "Michigan is a welcoming state and we are...

“Irwin Schiff, imprisoned for his resistance to the federal income tax, died yesterday (10/16/2015). Efforts by his son, the noted financial commentator Peter Schiff, to secure his release from prison so that he could die with his family were unsuccessful. Schiff’s sad passing illustrates an essential truth about the state: if you resist its orders, you will be dealt with by force.” ************* Personal comment: R.I.P., Irwin. I sat at Irwin's table -- and snapped this photo -- at the Tupper Saussy pretrial rally in Chattanooga years ago. The man was a patriot and a fighter for justice while receiving...

Radical Islamists, have brought the fight right here to the Red, White and Blue and it's about time we bring it to them. Full force. Let's show them what the U.S. of A looks like up close and personal. Show 'em what a B1 bomber looks like flying overhead. Show 'em what they're messing with. Put the fear of OUR God in their desert. Because clearly our lack of strategy isn't working..

When confronted by an armed criminal, common advice for an armed citizen has been to evaluate the threat. If complying with the criminal, such as giving them money, a cell phone, or other items, is evaluated as low risk, it may be best to comply. The evaluation is often stated something like this: Does it appear that your assailant is going to seriously harm or kill you, or do you believe that they will simply leave? If you believe that they are going to kill you in any case, then pick your best chance of resistance and...

Officials from the World Health Organization warned this week that the workhorse medications we rely on to keep viruses, bacteria and other pathogens in check are in real danger of becoming obsolete. In every region of the globe, health officials have witnessed “very high rates of resistance” to antimicrobial drugs designed to fight bugs like Escherichia coli, Staphylococcus aureus and Klebsiella pneumoniae, according to a new report. These bugs cause pneumonia and infections in the bloodstream, open wounds and the urinary tract.

Yes, there is one job that Americans will not do. Will not ever do again. America has had its one and only American Revolution. The revolution in Ukraine got me to thinking. Can anyone imagine Americans walking through the White House or the Capital and reclaiming it like just happened in Ukraine? Or even hanging around and waving patriotic banners into the early hours of a Monday morn? Nope; time to go to work. Had our million man march; done that, now back to like it never happened. Americans mock the pusillanimous French, but they are anything but. They will...

Everybody knows a Walt Kowalski. He is the grizzled Korean War veteran Clint Eastwood played in the movie Gran Torino. A man who spends his days sitting on the porch, keeping his house and yard immaculate, satisfied to drink his cheap beer while watching his neighborhood and country go to hell around him. He is an anachronism, a dinosaur -- part of the old America where you worked hard, took pride in your work and where you lived, and fought for your country and what it stood for when called upon. Armed with his M1 Garand rifle and 1911 .45...

As a Ohioan it has come to my attention that John "the boner" Boehner is being challenged in the up coming primary election. His challenger is a conservative by the name of Eric Gurr. Mr. Gurr has stated that he supports the Tea Party`s stance on limited Constitutional Government. In light of the past and current legislative actions of Old` "Boner", you may consider looking his challenger over and possibly supporting him.

No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the House. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope that it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen, if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve. This is no time for ceremony. The question before the House is one of awful moment to this country. For my own part I consider it...

A thought provoking video by a young lady who speaks about the concepts of freedom and liberty with the same eloquence and ironclad logic as the Framers. This is a truly inspiring essay that you will recommend to others.

Governor Dannel Malloy and the government of the state of Connecticut are having their own “Oh, poop” moment, now that they’ve tallied the number of citizens who have registered their “assault weapons” and “high capacity magazines” required by the state’s unconstitutional gun laws, compared that to the estimated number of applicable weapons and magazines in the state, and realize they’ve been ignored. Historically speaking, 90-percent or more of those required to comply with gun registration laws in the U.S. refuse to do so, and there is no reason to suspect that this registration attempt in Connecticut is any different. I’ve...

Resist and Ignore Obamacare . When you go into overtime without signing up , resist . Do not pay any penalties , refuse to play the game 100% . Just Say No. If millions and millions of Americans just totally shine this on and ignore the whole thing , what can they do ? Ideas ? What can they do ? Massive passive resistance is in order here . To hell with tyranny . Sic Semper Tyranus

A West Sacramento police officer allegedly raped at least six women while on duty, the Police Thugs blog reported Monday, referencing a Huffington Post article from February. Officer Sergio Alvarez, a five year veteran of the force, was initially placed on administrative leave and then fired and arrested after an investigation into the allegations. In fairness to former Officer Alvarez, he has not yet been convicted. Trial is set for September. He remains in custody with bail set at $26.3 million. Dan Drummond, who was police chief at the time (he was replaced in May), said he and the department...

I AM Expendable. Why Colorado. Why me. A personal note to the two former residents of Dennis Avenue who I know read this blog. Do us all a favor and don't rat me out on this post. I'm going to be speaking frankly and she doesn't need the worry. In Colorado, not all the Nazis are in the state legislature and the governor's mansion. Some pick up the trash along the roads (and not in a chain gang, unfortunately). Along with all the defeatist claptrap troll responses to We Are Expendable, bleating about "every day the bluefor gets stronger...
