Idaho Trump electors report ‘barrage’ of harassing messages urging them to change votes By Betsy Z. Russell bzrussell@gmail.com (208) 336-2854 MONDAY, NOV. 14, 2016, 3:45 P.M. Idaho’s four presidential electors say they have been getting harassing phone calls, emails and Facebook messages urging them to become “faithless electors” and not cast their votes for Donald Trump in the electoral college. “A lot of ’em use bad, rough language,” said Layne Bangerter, one of the four electors. “Nothing I feel intimidated over. But we’re watching it very closely. They’ve got our home phone numbers, our cell numbers, our emails, our Facebook....

Politics Oregon Bully Who Took Down Christian Bakery Tossed Out in Election In 2013, Oregon Democrat Brad Avakian, as commissioner of the Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industries, put a Christian bakery out of business because its owners stood up for their religious convictions. Fast forward to 2016 and Avakian, not unlike many of his fellow Democrats, got served a big slice of sweet justice. Sweetcakes by Melissa, owned by Melissa and Aaron Klein, was forced out of business by Avakian and the BOLI in 2013. Klein told Independent Journal Review that they were fined $135,000 and the state garnished...

TV was busy last Monday (night before the election) so I had to listen on radio (Westwood One) to the Seahawks-Buffalo MNF game. During the halftime, they aired a few minutes of a "mini-interview" with each Presidential candidate, and Trump's answers were interesting. Keeping with the "sports theme", he was asked why he always seems to "go on offense". His response was that he learned that growing up in New York, when he encountered opposition first as a kid in school then as a young businessman, to never to give in or submit, and "always attack back twice as hard...

Okay the election is over and all is well but now I have to ask the question: Could any other Republican besides Donald Trump have beaten Hillary in the election? Personally I don't think so. Jake Novak of CNBC wrote that Trump was essentially a third party candidate who was endorsed by the Republicans. Many Democrat voters in the Rust Belt which was key to victory voted not for a Republican but for Trump who himself repudiated by many/most of the Republican establishment. When I look back at the other Republican candidates, I see no one who would have been...

As Democrats strategize on how to stop conservative legislation from making its way to Donald Trump’s desk in the White House, Republicans have a little-known rule in their toolbox that would allow them to pass legislation, including a repeal of Obamacare, with a simple majority. Democrats were able to keep 48 seats in the Senate after Tuesday’s election, giving the party the power to filibuster legislation and effectively prevent conservative policies from being enacted. But Republicans can turn to a seldom-used Senate rule that would allow them to pass legislation by a simple majority vote—legislation that has a greater chance...

Because of Trump, of course One thing you must understand is that the left will never allow Donald Trump to govern. At least not until they’ve used up every conceivable arrow in their quiver. Now, you might think, what can they do? Republicans hold the White House and both houses of Congress, and we’ll have our Supreme Court majority back. It’s glorious, isn’t it?

By February, State Auditor Nicole Galloway will soon be the highest-ranked Democratic statewide elected official in Missouri, not including U.S. Senate seats. That will be because she will be the only Democratic statewide elected official in Missouri. Republicans pulled off a clean sweep of their statewide candidates, no doubt assisted by a massive Donald Trump surge as he won by just over 19 points in the Show Me State on his way to the presidency.

Congressional Republicans, who were bracing for major losses on Election Day, are now drafting an ambitious agenda that will seek to torpedo President Obama's major accomplishments over the last eight years. With Donald Trump's shocking presidential victory and the GOP keeping control of the Senate and a comfortable majority in the House, the party is well-positioned to play offense in 2017.

Tonight, Tonight was not just any night. Tonight there was no Hillary speech. Tonight, Tonight, America won tonight. And praise God, the Left was stopped where they are. We were told the press would announce her victory early; but no announcement happened and now its late at night. Donald Trump shined bright, We the People kicked Hillary's, Obama's, and their despicable mainstream media minion's butts, tonight. Yes, folks, my wife Mary and I are still on the campaign trail in a West coast hotel room celebrating Trump's victory and the GOP maintaining control of the House and Senate; a special...

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — Republican power in state capitols will be at its strongest levels in nearly a century when several newly elected governors take office next year. A remarkable election that propelled Republican Donald Trump to the White House also resulted in Republican wins in a trio of governorships previously held by Democrats in Missouri, New Hampshire and Vermont. The only potential Republican setback came in North Carolina, where Democratic Attorney General Roy Cooper declared victory over Gov. Pat McCrory in a race that remained too close to call Wednesday.

Skip to 3:50 below for the key bit. Good lord. He’s about as far off-script from the usual Democratic message as you can get. After all the Democrats' concern about voter suppression, this is an interesting response from Obama to Al Sharpton in a new interview pic.twitter.com/9qrJ3riT6a— Chris Megerian (@ChrisMegerian) November 4, 2016 I assume the left will walk this back after the election by claiming that O deliberately underplayed the impact of voter-ID laws and fewer early-voting hours in order to boost morale among minority voters. If he had complained loudly here about “voter suppression,†it might have backfired...

Whoever you are and wherever you live, if you are a Trump supporter wannabe, but are afraid or ashamed to tell others – it’s okay, just vote for Trump and don’t tell anyone It’s okay – just don’t tell anyone. All of you angry Bernie supporters who got sold out – it’s okay to vote for Trump. Rather than waste your vote or not vote at all, vote for someone (a non-politician) who honestly understands your anger and frustration; someone who will actually do something about the corrupt Washington establishment and the rotten trade deals that rob us blind. Vote...

House Republicans will hold a members-only conference call Wednesday at 1 p.m., two GOP aides confirmed. The call is an opportunity for members to touch base after Tuesday's elections, a senior GOP leadership aide said, noting that House Republicans regularly hold meetings or calls after large events. Republicans are expected to retain their majority in the House but are likely to lose seats. The call, which is being hosted by the National Republican Congressional Committee, will give members a chance to assess the level of damage and to discuss what's ahead.

CLEVELAND (AP) — The Latest on legal arguments over allegations Republican volunteers are engaging in voter intimidation in the guise of preventing voter fraud (all times local): 7:30 p.m. A federal judge in Phoenix is refusing to issue an injunction sought by Democrats that would have ordered Republicans not to engage in illegal voter intimidation tactics at the polls next week. U.S. District Judge John Tuchi's Friday evening ruling says the state Democratic Party hadn't shown evidence that the Republicans were conspiring to conduct illegal voter intimidation. He says he's willing to revisit the issue if evidence of voter intimidation...

They may not ride in crammed trains or carry angst over potholes but feuding presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton both want to fix America's infrastructure. The focus on improving public transit and highways couldn't come soon enough for local commuters, say two experts. "There is a desperate need to invest more into mass transit in Chicagoland," Regional Transportation Authority Chairman and former state senator Kirk Dillard said. "Most states significantly assist in the mass transit arena, but that is not the case today in Illinois," Dillard added, noting New York City budgets about $196 per capita on mass...

The electoral math for the 2016 election is crystal clear: Trump needs to carry the two battleground states that Romney lost – Florida and Ohio – preserve Romney’s slim victory in North Carolina, capture Pennsylvania, which Rom ney lost by just 5 points (largely by failing to compete there) and hold on to two prized Red States, Arizona and Georgia. If Trump can do this, he wins 273 electoral votes – 3 more than the majority required – and becomes the next president of the United States. How’s Trump doing? He’s regained his lead in Ohio, has reduced Florida to...

RICHMOND — Republican Donald Trump, never short on campaign shockers, pulled one off Saturday simply by setting foot in Virginia. Trump’s rally in Virginia Beach, part of a renewed push here that included a $2 million television ad buy, flabbergasted political analysts and GOP strategists who’ve considered the swing state off the table for months. Trailing Democrat Hillary Clinton by double digits in the latest Virginia polls, Trump will dispatch key surrogates — his children — for series of visits to Northern Virginia this week. His campaign said Trump and runningmate Mike Pence will return to the state “a lot”...
