The Washington Post released a poll on Thursday, which showed that 90% of Native Americans do not take offense to the word, Redskins. The sports media responded to this poll by apologizing for decades of fear-mongering, race-baiting, and trying to make a national crisis out of something that is not even a crisis in the Indian community. Just kidding. They freaked out. On ESPN’s Around the Horn, host Tony Reali asked his panel whether or not the fact that the supposedly offended Native Americans, being not so offended, changed their views on the issue? Former 49ers defensive tackle and Super Bowl champion Dana Stubblefield was charged Monday with the rape of a “developmentally delayed” disabled woman, the Santa Clara (Calif.) County District Attorney’s office announced. According to the San Jose Mercury News, prosecutors said the 5-foot, 105-pound woman was assaulted on April 9, 2015 during an interview at Stubblefield’s home for a babysitting job. "This was a crime of violence against a vulnerable victim," Deputy District Attorney Tim McInerny said in a statement. "She was looking for a job and she was unconscionably assaulted."

The Cleveland Browns have signed quarterback Robert Griffin III, the team announced Thursday. Griffin’s contract is for two years and $15 million, and can be worth up to $22 million including incentives, reports USA Today’s Tom Pelissero.

A US appeals court has struck down a provision of a federal law that barred the registration of offensive trademarks because it violates the First Amendment of the US Constitution. The decision on Tuesday by the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit in Washington, DC, vacates the refusal by the US Patent and Trademark Office to register the name of the Asian-American rock band, The Slants. When the U.S. Labor Department’s Center for Civil Rights wanted to celebrate its accomplishments last week, its managers threw the staff a football-themed tailgate party in the office parking lot. LOS ANGELES — Four California schools will be forced to change mascots after Gov. Jerry Brown signed legislation barring public schools from using the "Redskins" name for sports teams.
