A multistate outbreak of Listeriosis linked to packaged salad mixes produced by Dole Fresh Vegetables Inc. is being investigated by federal, state and local officials. Listeriosis is a rare but serious illness usually caused by food contaminated by the Listeria monocytogenes bacteria, according to the Food and Drug Administration, one of the federal agencies involved in the investigation. The bacteria has been found in salads produced at a Dole facility in Springfield, Ohio. Fifteen people from eight states have been reported infected by the bacteria since July 5. California's Lt. Governor Gavin Newsom is no stranger to controversy. He famously gave out gay marriage licenses during his time as Mayor of San Francisco, even as it flouted state law. WASHINGTON -- Only about 1 in 5 defective tires is being removed from the road through the safety recall process, a federal accident investigations board said Tuesday. The recall includes certain 3- and 4-pound packages of American and white American slices, Kraft said. CLEVELAND, Ohio -- An already long-shot effort to recall Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson was dealt a major blow on Wednesday after elections officials rejected more than 98 percent of the 12,887 signatures submitted by the group.
