Walter Reed, Week 241, 11/27/09 Thanksgiving – Thanking Our Brave Soldiers The Friday After Thanksgiving FRONT GATE NOTES November 27, 2009, Thanksgiving, No Bus and Patriotism Friday night after Thanksgiving is normally quiet with light traffic. Tonight was no different. Very windy, making the hi 40’s seem like the lo 30’s. Even so, eleven of us were in place during the evening. The wind was so stiff that our banners would have blown away, leaving us with signs and hand held flags. The war doesn’t stop though and two big ambulances raced down Georgia Ave and into Walter Reed to...

One woman has not forgotten September 11th, 2001. Debra Burlingame, sister of Chic Burlingame, pilot of AA Flight 77 that was crashed into the Pentagon, wants the world to know she is not happy with President Obama’s and AG Eric Holder’s decision to try the 9-11 terrorists, including KSM, in Federal Court in New York. AGRICULTURE — Help struggling California farmers I am writing to encourage people in Arizona to attend an event Friday in support of California farmers who are struggling this year. Their water supply has been cut off due to radical environmental regulations and the Delta smelt, an endangered fish. This is important for all Americans to understand because this area supplies produce for our food supply. I have been to the Web site www.farmwater.org and seen the photos of people standing in line for food to receive carrots from China. This is disturbing on so many levels to me and I...

Neither evening was unduly cold, but the wind and rain kept us from deploying the MOAB on either FReep 238 & 239. Although it's a lot more difficult to put up and take down wearing winter gear, the exertion required has the effect of warming you up. No matter, because Trooprally and Lurker Bill always have their Mini-MOABs. You can see one behind BufordP, and they work in all but the most extreme weather. There was a CBS satellite vehicle outside the hospital on Nov 6 to tape a segment about the terrorist Major Nidal Hasan, who killed 13 of...

As strange as it might seem, the eight-month-old stock rally may just keep going because so many investors still think it won't last. Investment advisors say clients continue to view stocks with hesitancy and skepticism—a vestige of the panic that swept through the markets just a year ago. But that fear, ironically, has kept stocks from going up too far, too fast—allowing the market to move gradually higher as investors creep timidly back into stocks. "We're seeing a lot of evidence that they're buying this rally with a lot of apprehension,"says Richard Sparks, senior analyst at Schaeffer's Investment Research in...

An estimated one million people participated in a rally in Madrid Saturday to protest a proposed new law that would expand permission for abortion. The overwhelmingly Catholic country currently allows only abortion in the cases of rape, fetal abnormality, or when the mother’s physical or mental health is at risk. But the proposed law, introduced by socialist Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero, would allow abortion for any reason during the first 14 weeks of pregnancy. Furthermore, the bill is proposing to allow girls as young as 16 to have an abortion without parental consent. Under the theme “Every Life...

Many Americans wonder how this can possibly be. How can some banks be prospering so soon after a financial collapse, even as legions of people worry about losing their jobs and their homes? It may come as a surprise that one of the most powerful forces driving the resurgence on Wall Street is not the banks but Washington. Many of the steps that policy makers...

The parking lot of Tucson Electric Park filled quickly Saturday morning with Tucsonans eager to take part in The Tucson Tea Party. Organizers said they expected up to 10,000 people to descend on Tucson Electric Park for the rally to demand less government. Long lines of cars and a healthy crown of tailgaters Saturday morning made it clear organizers could get as large a turnout as they had predicted. “We’re normal, non-racist everyday Tucsonans who are very concerned about the direction our government is going, ” said Chris Bubany, a small business owner who was serving chile relleno and peanut...

After action report of yesterday's Chicago "Can you hear us NOW?" march on the media. Approximately 100 patriots gathered at 4:00pm outside of ABC news studios on State Street in Chicago. We sang God Bless America, The National Anthem and chanted "report the news" "do your jobs" "can you hear us now?" etc... After about 1/2 hour, we marched on over to CBS News studios. The folks at CBS saw us coming and pulled down the window shades to the studio. LOL, cowards. More chanting commenced. The protest was to last until 6pm, but I left at about 5:30 as...

It was a beautiful fall day for a protest here in Colorado. Sunny and warm. I'd say there were about 100 protestors in all. It would have been nice to have a larger turnout - just saying. But a good time was had by all. The plan of action was to assemble outside of the local NBC affiliate and then march down to the ABC affiliate down the street. Press coverage of the event was a joke. No surprises there.

BROOKSVILLE - Brooksville is soon to have its very own "tea party." Jason Sager, president of the Department of Constitutional Protection (DCP), will hold it from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 7, on the courthouse steps and lawn. He says his tea party, while similar in spirit to those held throughout the country, will steer clear of politics. Instead, the rally will be more celebratory, he said, and feature educational and patriotic speeches and Christian entertainment. <snip> The speakers and entertainers will promote a "pro-American and Christian message," he says. "Think of it as a Fourth of July rally...
