SIERRA VISTA — Friday night’s rain prompted a flash flood warning for Sierra Vista from the National Weather Service until 9:15 p.m., while police reported several flooded roads and intersections throughout the city’s west end. Pensacola, Florida, Is A Waterworld After Being Hit With 2 Feet Of Rain [PHOTOS] Pamela Engel April 30, 2014, 9:00 AM   Pensacola, Florida, was submerged under more than 2 feet of water overnight as flash floods hit the area. Wet weather is again hitting drought-stricken California as the second and larger of two back-to-back storms makes its way ashore. The storms are part of an atmospheric river, a narrow channel of concentrated moisture in the atmosphere connecting tropical air with colder, drier regions around Earth’s middle latitudes.

A few hours after Muslims prayed for rain to relieve the drought affecting California, the Bay Area finally got some rain on Sunday, February 2, soaking parched parks, brown hillsides and thirsty gardens. “Amazing coincidence? Muslims in the Bay Area went out for the Prayer for Rain, next day this happened…,” @mohamedghilan wrote on Twitter, posting an image for Muslims’ prayer for rain. “Shaykh @hamzayusuf & @ImamZaidShakir renewing the Prophetic Sunnah. Heavy rains hit Israel Monday, causing floods and one serious injury. The coastal plain and western Negev were hardest hit, seeing 20-40 centimeters (8-15 inches) of precipitation. Flooding was reported in the southern coastal plain in Sderot, Rishon Lezion, Ashdod and Ashkelon, among other locales. In the western Negev town of Ofakim, the flooding caused a wall to collapse, seriously injuring a 56-year-old man. He was knocked out, falling with his head in a puddle. The man was transported in critical condition to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba. Israel is not expecting additional heavy rain over the next few days.

Tropical Storm Karen dumped varying amount of rain all over the South Central, tri-county PA area, ranging from 5.6" to 10.2", but the "official" tally is 9.11"; all of it causing widespread flooding and misery. Multi-million-gallon retention ponds and containment areas overflowed quickly, wiping-out travel on roads and streets for much of Friday. Notice the distinct lack of Marines holding umbrellas. No I didn't selectively pick other than image quality. Finding cases of Marines holding umbrellas is hard, almost like it doesn't happen.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A torrential downpour that struck Charlotte Saturday afternoon damaged the Mount Rushmore-style sand sculpture bust of President Obama — an ominous beginning to what many fear is a plagued convention. Workers were trying Saturday afternoon to reform the base of the sculpture, built from sand brought in from Myrtle Beach, S.C., pounding and smoothing out the sand that had washed off the facade.
