The history of slavery in the United States justifies reparations for African Americans, argues a recent report by a U.N.-affiliated group based in Geneva. This conclusion was part of a study by the United Nations' Working Group of Experts on People of African Descent, a body that reports to the international organization's High Commissioner on Human Rights. The group of experts, which includes leading human rights lawyers from around the world, presented its findings to the United Nations Human Rights Council on Monday, pointing to the continuing link between present injustices and the dark chapters of American history.

Newly announced Saturday Night Live cast member Melissa Villaseñor — the first Latina cast member in the show’s four-decade history — has come under fire for apparently deleting thousands of tweets from her social media account that critics have deemed racist. The tweets from the 28-year-old Mexican-American comedian — who joined the cast of NBC’s long-running sketch show earlier this month — were first noticed by Grist writer Aura Bogado, who pointed them out on Twitter.

Members of 4chan’s “politically incorrect” board /pol/ have begun “Operation Google,” which aims to circumnavigate the search engine’s new AI program to remove bigoted and racist posts and comments from the internet by filling the search engine with more bigotry and racism. The ringleader of the Oxford University ‘Rhodes Must Fall’ campaign has been accused of racism after admitting he wanted to ‘whip’ a fellow student because he was white. Colin Kaepernick is now the most disliked player in the NFL. That's at least according to a recent poll of Americans by E-Poll Marketing Research, which asked 1,100 people whose demographics were representative of the general population. Last year's college news was about demands for safe spaces, trigger warnings and bans on insensitivity. This year's college news is about black student demands for segregated campus housing and other racially segregated campus spaces and programs. I totally disagree with these calls by black students. It's a gross dereliction of duty for college administrators to cave to these demands, but I truly sympathize with the problems that many black college students face. Black men may have a legitimate reason to flee Boston police during investigatory or “Terry” stops, the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court ruled Tuesday. The court found that systemic racism in the Boston Police Department may be considered in conjunction with a suspect’s decision to flee from police during a stop. A Terry stop, named for the U.S. Supreme Court case which sanctioned the practice, refers to a brief detention and search of an individual due to reasonable suspicion of criminal conduct. CHARLOTTE, N.C. (KWCH) A Charlotte, North Carolina news station says it has confirmed with sources that there is dash camera video that shows Keith Scott getting out of a car and coming at police officers with a gun in his hand. A police officer shot and killed Scott on Tuesday. Chief Kerr Putney said Scott posed a threat because officers saw him exit a vehicle twice with a the gun and didn't drop it when police ordered him to do so.

The election never stops, as one can now clearly see looking back. The black vote was never to be more important in any national election; who knew? Maybe the democrats already had knowledge that the base was fraying, long before the rest of the Country.
