A student art installation at Temple University curiously reads, White People. Do Something, and has provoked polarizing reactions across social media. The Tyler School of Art at Temple University took to their Twitter account to brag about the art installation, which is located on a central quad at the Philadelphia-based institution. Although the projects meaning remains unclear, it hasnt stopped community members and internet commentators from speculating about the artists motivation.

Buy ammo?
Yeah, like leave colleges where you pay $42,000 per year to have the PC police harangue you over being white.
We did. We let you waste decades on welfare and affirmative action that you insisted on getting against our better judgement. Most of you wasted these opportunities. You mistakenly assumed our patience was infinite.
“Laughing at the Social Justice Warriors” is something.
"If you could snap your fingers and make this a world in which American slavery never happened... would you do it?"
Paying taxes ISN’T doing something?
Stop blaming Whitey for self-inflicted failures.
We DID “do something”, we stepped back and gave you a 50-year head start on almost everything. We can’t help that you squandered it. Now, you’ve come back for handout number two.
You’re children, but not OUR children. We’re not bequeathing you everything we have just because you think you’re entitled to it. A smart parent doesn’t even do that to their own, spoiled, kids.
The billions of dollars spent on the quest for “affirmative action”, welfare, food stamps, etc, is the “something” we did.
If you can’t take it from there and make your own future, the outcome is yours to suffer.
We don’t even give our own kids that kind of head start.
It’s become increasingly evident that the “something” you want us to “do” involves handing over more money, and free stuff, and free reign to break the law, without reprisal. I say, we’re done. We’re way past the point where mama bird kicks baby bird out of the nest...you don’t fly, and the cat gets you.
Sounds fair enough - I’ll do something. Need to touch up some outside caulking, wash the car, spray weed killer. Will get right on it! Hope this snowflake now feels better.
“White people: do something”
Subtext: “OR ELSE.”
This is battle space prep for anti-white pogroms.
And if you are a white, heterosexual, Christian male over 50, the core of the “irredeemable deplorable racists,” you are first in line for the train to the ovens.
This is how the anti-Jewish pogroms started in Germany.
And electing the first African American President, whose only effort was to throw fuel on the fire?
We’re going to do something. We’re going to get rid of the woman whose party has orchestrated 50 years of black misery.
I like this for its vagueness. It’s pretty provocative in that it can interpreted in a hundred different ways. Is it a call for reparations or self defense? Is it a warning? To who? Hug or shoot or run? Are white people our only hope?
As a black man, I LOVE IT. And I think I get the vague meaning:
“...Doing nothing, is not an option.”
Let’s face it: White folks are the ones getting crapped on about everything. I read it as, “How much longer are you gonna take this crap?”
360,000 plus white Yankees killed in a civil war that ended slavery of black people is never enough!
Other than growing up without breaking the law, learning to revere God and country, staying in school and working extremely hard to earn two degrees, marrying one woman and raising a fine family with the same characteristics, not taking ONE DIME of money from the government in 65 years while paying several millions of dollars in taxes for you lazy, lawbreaking, immoral, shiftless layabout skunks.
Right. It’s time we “do something.”
It could be interpreted as a nod to the industriousness of white people or mocking the historical meddling of white people. As you said, it could be a call to action, or it could be a fatalistic acknowledgement that white people will do something, like it or not.
Ironically, a white person probably made the poster. So...we did do something
