I’m a hardcore lefty. I also live in Texas and have spent most of my career working for nonprofits. That means a lot of red-state right winging. Not the nice, necktie, Laffer-curve, “fiscal conservative, social liberal” guys either. Nice conservatives don’t run charities. They’re comfy where they are. You want to do good in Texas, you need full-on deplorables. You need the churches, the phone trees, the mailing lists.
