My step mom uses quicken to do her finances with, but is getting tired of the continual price increases, I was hoping folks that do their own finances might know of software that works for windows format that isn't outrageous. I use Excel myself, but apparently she want's something a bit more user friendly

Several gun-related businesses were suddenly — and without warning — disrupted in recent weeks when Intuit stopped processing credit card payments because sales were gun-related, The Post has learned.

Since my 8-year-old copy of Microsoft Money has finally decided to unceremoniously stop working, I've decided to start shopping around for a new personal finance program. My needs are relatively small. I really only use it to track my checking account and mortgage. I looked into Intuit's Quicken software, but the reviews were pretty bleak. It seems that Intuit hasn't learned and continues to churn out garbage software that people just learn to live with and then are forced to upgrade 2 years later. On top of that, it's my understanding that you have to sign up for an account...
  • (Vanity) Best software for tracking investments

I have an old, old version of MS Money and love i; it does everything I want it to for keeping track of my investments. But Microsoft stopped making Money a few years back, so that leaves one other big player in the space, Quickens software. However, when I read all of the review on Amazon it appears to be a nightmare for many people, especially those using Windows 8/8.1, which is what I am now using. My version of MS Money barely worked on Vista; several times in fact it would not, making it fitful at best. I am...
  • Don’t do business with progressive appeasers (heads up - take action!!)

Let’s stipulate: Activists on the left are free to exercise their rights of speech and assembly to boycott businesses whose politics they oppose. Conversely, activists on the right are free to exercise the power of their pocketbooks and refrain from supporting businesses that shun their values. So, what are you waiting for, conservatives? There are coordinated shakedowns taking place right now that involve some of America’s most prominent companies who’ve chosen to surrender to progressive bullying and race-card opportunism. Silence is complicity. On Tuesday, McDonald’s told liberal magazine Mother Jones that the company had “decided to cut ties with ALEC,...

I'm looking for suggestions on how to handle a home budget. It's for a friend, who is a 'people' person, not a 'numbers' person. She will soon be in a tight money situation, including a mortgage and a home business, and is afraid that she won't be able to manage her personal money without getting into debt. The alternatives I am aware of include good old paper, Quicken, Money, MVelopes.com, and brute force in a spreadsheet. The problems I can see with these alternatives in this case are: Paper and pencil requires doing the calculations by hand, or calculator -...
