Across the country on Monday night, people took to the streets to protest the grand jury decision to not indict Officer Darren Wilson in the August shooting of Michael Brown. From Ferguson, Missouri, where Brown lived, to major cities like New York and Los Angeles, to places in between, the outrage over the decision was palpable. People of all ages and races hit the streets, some with signs, others holding their hands up in what’s become an oft-used way of honoring the late 18-year-old, and others lying on the pavement, outlined by chalk. While the reactions in Ferguson became at...

The FBI arrested two men Thursday night accused of purchasing explosives they apparently planned to use during protests in Ferguson, Missouri, a law enforcement source told CBS News. The men, who live in the St. Louis area, are allegedly members of the new Black Panthers. They were arrested as part of an FBI undercover operation near Ferguson and intended to use the explosives in pipe bombs, the source confirmed. The suspects, whose names were not released, were arraigned in federal court on Friday. FBI spokeswoman Rebecca Wu told CBS News the suspects were arrested on outstanding warrants. Within days, a...

Received a message this morning requesting a repeat of the National Day of Protest against amnesty that was held a couple of months ago. I'm all for it, but think this time it should be entitled, "National Day of Reckoning!" and should be repeated weekly for the duration. FR was instrumental in leading the fight for impeachment against the criminal Clinton. Well, Clintoon was a piker compared to our new tyrant. As much as the Republicans fear impeaching our first black president, I'm afraid it must be done. The Constitution demands it!! We cannot cower in fear as our wannabe...

Gheen, of ALIPAC, said he had a suggestion that he wishes the sheriffs would consider when they pay a visit to the nation’s capital next month. “If the sheriffs are heading to Washington, how about suggesting the sheriffs take some of their best men to D.C. and they use their power and ability to arrest the president of the United States?” Gheen said. “I think if the sheriffs are going to Washington on Dec. 10 and the president continues to violate the Constitution of the United States, that they should consider arresting the president of the United States. What if...

Liberal environmentalists are spending a rainy Monday morning in Washington protesting outside the Capitol Hill townhouse of Louisiana Democratic Sen. Mary Landrieu over the Keystone XL oil pipeline. According to a source on the scene Monday, protesters are standing in the yard of Landrieu’s East Capitol Street home holding signs opposing the pipeline. Protesters also brought along a mock black plastic pipeline. The source said Capitol Police and D.C. Metro Police are on the scene, but appear to be letting the protesters stand in Landrieu’s yard anyway.

Turkey was once one of the most religiously tolerant majority Muslim societies in its attitude toward Jews. The reason wasn’t so much tolerant political culture, but rather a belief that the Jews were a tranquil, loyal minority. After all, Turkish school books taught that while Greeks, Armenians, and Arabs all rose up against the Ottomans, the Jews did not. Hence, Turkey boasted along with Iran either the second or third largest Jewish community in the Middle East after Israel itself. In recent years, of course, this has changed. Just as...

Femen, the women's rights group known for topless protests, took their act to a new level of provocation on Friday with an explicitly sexually suggestive demonstration in front of the Vatican. In what they described as a protest over Pope Francis's upcoming visit to the European Parliament, three members of the group appeared on St Peter's square wearing only leather mini-skirts and flower garlands in their hair. Two of them had "Keep it Inside" written on their backs - a slogan apparently related to what followed. After bending forward, the women dropped down on to all fours, all the time...

Now, I’m not saying that anyone in the White House is going to listen to anybody else in terms of the Executive Amnesty Plan of 2014. But, theoretically, if they were going to listen to somebody on this subject, you’d think it might be the folks who are tasked with enforcing many of the related laws on a day to day basis. And on the off chance that somebody might actually be listening, there’s a sizable group of sheriffs who would like a word with the President next month. Sheriffs across the country are planning a massive gathering in...

Please come to support stopping Obama's and Gov. Brown's open borders and failing to deport illegal aliens which are some of the reasons two officerS were shot dead on duty by an illegal alien with a criminal history last week. Please also pass on this request your local email lists and post to websites. Brown had the hubris to sign legislation this past Saturday to halt deportations of some illegal aliens (defacto amnesty) which of course is illegal as States do not have the power to make immigration policy. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/10/05/trust-act-signed_n_4050168.html This is an impromptu protest (not affiliated with any group)...

You can watch a video related to this article by clicking on the "Enza Ferreri Blog" link above Maybe the tide really is turning. I remember when, in the late '60s and the '70s, hardline socialist and communist groups were still struggling to get their message accepted in Europe and the West generally. They were a tiny minority then, and their agenda seemed very far-fetched and out-of-synch with ordinary people and mainstream views. It also looked liked it was going to remain that way. When, later on, I heard them screaming "Free Nelson Mandela", I didn't think it was going...

An estimated 100,000 people protested against illegal immigration, Islamisation and the European Union at a rally organised by the Lega Nord (Northern League) in front of Milan's Cathedral, the heart of the city. The crowd was so enormous that it took two hours for everybody to get to the vast square. Demonstrators were holding banners saying "No to mosques", "Fewer illegals = fewer diseases", "Less money to refugees", and "If I catch Ebola I'll infect Alfano". Angelino Alfano is Italy's Minister of the Interior, responsible, among other things, for internal security and immigration. The main message was similar to...

Pamela Engel and Colin Campbell October 13, 2014Prominent activist Cornel West has been handcuffed during demonstrations in Ferguson, Missouri, according to Fusion and reporters on Twitter. West was also seen at protests Sunday night. Los Angeles Times reporter Matt Pearce wrote on Twitter that West was joined by clergy in a march to the Ferguson police station on Monday. The demonstration, Pearce wrote, was "highly coordinated" with "organizers clearing paths, sending clergy in waves … willing to get arrested." Protesters planned a "day of action" Monday, demanding the arrest of the police officer who shot unarmed black teenager Michael Brown....

**SNIP** Therefore the tremendous will and efforts of the African American people will only be actualized if thousands of Americans of good will and understanding join hands to help usher in a new day in this small Midwestern town. This movement is the "eye of the storm" of the civil rights movement of today. For more than 57 days, people of Ferguson have picketed; sat-in; conducted a massive voter registration drive which resulted in 3,000 new voters; held special church gatherings; raised money to help Michael's family; and developed media to address the local and national crisis of police brutality...

Hundreds of nurses have staged a protest rally in Las Vegas, Nevada, warning that US hospitals aren't ready for an Ebola outbreak and demanding more action by authorities against a possible epidemic in the US. About 1,000 nurses and healthcare workers attended the Planet Nurse convention on Wednesday, chanting slogans to raise awareness about the increasing danger and death from Ebola. The protesters highlighted the lack of training, equipment and isolation rooms where suspected Ebola-infected patients in the US could be quarantined. They also took part in what they called a “die-in” by laying on the ground in imitation of...

It was rather crowded outside Lincoln Center late Monday afternoon. While yours truly was at Kennedy Airport waiting to return to Israel for Rosh HaShanna, several thousand people gathered outside Lincoln Center to protest the Metropolitan Opera's glorification of a terror attack that took place nearly 30 years ago. There's an extensive report with over an hour and a half of video and many pictures and slides here, and I urge you all to check it out. But I want to share one quote with you that really caught me eye. And finally, from writer, Jack Kemp: “One of...

Hong Kong police have fired repeated volleys of tear gas to disperse pro-democracy protests and baton-charged the crowd blocking a key road in the government district after official warnings against illegal demonstrations. Student groups are spearheading a civil disobedience campaign along with democracy activists to pressure Beijing into granting full democracy to Hong Kong. The city's central district descended into chaos on Sunday as chanting protesters converged on police barricades surrounding their colleagues, who had earlier launched a "new era" of civil disobedience. Riot police staged repeated pepper spray and baton charges and threw tear gas at the crowds. Police...
