Joe Biden is being portrayed as the Democrats’ safest potential presidential nominee, despite his obvious flaws as a candidate. But one wonders how Biden’s history of swamp corruption will play if he actually faces the scrutiny of a national run. Biden’s family has gotten wealthy, like those of so many low-paid “public servants”–Tom Daschle and Harry Reid are obvious examples. How does that happen? Politico headlines: “Biden Inc. Over his decades in office, ‘Middle-Class Joe’s’ family fortunes have closely tracked his political career.” It begins:

Abortion giant Planned Parenthood took to Twitter to scold CNN and the Democratic National Committee (DNC) for omitting abortion as an issue during the Democrat Party debate Tuesday evening. “Tonight, voters missed an opportunity to hear how Democratic candidates will approach a fundamental issue that impacts their lives,” Planned Parenthood posted, as MRC NewsBusters observed. “Candidates spent more than 30 minutes debating health care, but it’s meaningless if we cannot access it.”

Former Massachusetts governor and longshot candidate for the Republican nomination for president Bill Weld levied a series of attacks against his primary opponent, President Donald Trump, dubbing him a "raging racist." "Donald Trump is a raging racist, Okay? He's a complete and thoroughgoing racist. And he made that choice, a choice a long time ago, when he was engaged in the housing business in New York with his father," Weld said, speaking at the NAACP convention in Detroit on Wednesday. He added: "The national Republican Party, has a choice. And a lot of them like to think that it's a...

As we discussed here recently, New York State passed a special law aimed squarely at Donald Trump (which is likely an unconstitutional bill of attainder) that would allow the release of President Trump’s New York State tax returns. Beyond the constitutional questions, there was one other small hitch in this scheme. The law wouldn’t allow New York to expose them or do much of anything with the documents. It would only allow their release to specific committees in Congress. And in order for that to happen, somebody would have to ask for them.Well, that still hasn’t happened. The “somebodyâ€...

Former Vice President Joe Biden's support in the latest Hill-HarrisX poll of Democratic voters has fallen below 30 percent, his lowest mark in the survey so far. The poll, released on Monday, found that 29 percent of likely Democratic primary voters support Biden as their first choice for president, while 16 percent back Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.). This marks a 4-point drop for Biden from an identical poll conducted two weeks ago and immediately following the first 2020 Democratic debates. It also represents a 17-point drop from when same poll was first conducted in May, a month after Biden formally...

BY DANIEL DESROCHERS JULY 11, 2019 06:53 PM Louisville Kentucky Sports Radio host Matt Jones, had harsh criticisms Thursday for the roll-out of former Marine Corps pilot Amy McGrath’s campaign to challenge U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell. The popular sports radio host, who started his time on stage at a Kentucky Chamber of Commerce business summit by saying he still hasn’t decided whether...

Just when it looked like the threat of widespread primary challenges to House Democrats had quieted down, the activist left is agitating again to go after many of the party’s longtime incumbents. Tensions inside the House Democratic Caucus are running high after an ugly debate last month over legislation to provide emergency aid for the humanitarian crisis at the border. Progressives lambasted leadership and some centrists who backed the measure as “child abusers” because it lacked money to improve hygiene and nutrition standards for detained child migrants. That Democratic firefight and others have inflamed liberals looking ahead to 2020, including...

uring the 2008 presidential campaign, Barack Obama famously became so frustrated by his running mate’s logorrhea that he asked an aide, “How many times is Biden going to say something stupid?” According to authors Mark Halperin and John Heilemann, the VP’s stock had dropped so low by late 2011 that the Obama reelection team considered replacing Biden with Hillary Clinton on the 2012 ticket. And, as his busing blunder clearly demonstrated, Biden still has the old gift for gaffes. According to a new Washington Post-ABC poll, however, if the 2020 election were held today, Biden would beat President Trump by...

In the viral moment of the first Democratic presidential debates, Sen. Kamala Harris attacked former vice president Joe Biden over his opposition to forced busing to integrate public schools. The Harris campaign is now waffling on the issue. Over time, we may look back on that as a moment revealing Harris’s underlying weakness as a candidate.

A large primary field may fragment the vote, making it unlikely that a candidate could win a majority and avoid a runoff and making it easier for Moore to advance to a runoff with only the support of his base. The point is that Moore does have a path — especially a path to a primary runoff if there’s a crowded GOP field. And if he does get there, he would be only one step away from a rematch with Jones. Moore would still have a decent chance of winning a general election in conservative Alabama, and that is surely...

President Donald Trump's son is planning to campaign against the only Republican congressman who has called for his father's impeachment. Donald Trump Jr. will be heading to Michigan to fight Rep. Justin Amash in a primary battle, people close to the Trump Organization executive told CNBC on the condition of anonymity. This comes after Trump's son tweeted out a poll showing Amash losing to his only challenger so far in the race, state legislator Jim Lower, and hinting he will be heading to the Wolverine State to take on the four-term lawmaker. "See you soon Justin... I hear Michigan is...

Michigan State Rep. Jim Lower announced in May that he will be mounting a primary challenge against Rep. Justin Amash over his comments about impeaching President Donald Trump — and the previously little known politician is already polling ahead of the longtime congressman. Amash made national headlines after he called for the impeachment of President Trump, becoming the first GOP congressman or senator to do so. Soon after his statements, Lower announced that he will be sitting out the race for his third term in the state senate and will instead be running for the 3rd Congressional District seat that...

Former Vice President Joe Biden has accumulated a lead in the 2020 Democrat polls sufficient enough to officially qualify for frontrunner status. This is pretty impressive when you consider the amount of baggage he had to drag along in order to get himself there.

In the aftermath of Rep. Justin Amash, R-Mich., calling for President Trump to be impeached over the findings in Robert Mueller’s report from the special counsel’s investigation, he is now going to be facing a primary challenger. State Rep. Jim Lower announced his candidacy on Sunday. Speaking with Fox News’ Laura Ingraham on Monday, Lower further explained why he is running against the five-term congressman. […] “You know at this point, Justin Amash has more in common with Rashida Tlaib than he does the average Republican primary voter in the district. So, we are going beat him on this issue,...

Rep. Justin Amash of Michigan says he enlists social media to do something unusual: explain why he bucks his party in terms his constituents can understand. The 39-year-old Republican, who was the youngest member of the freshman class in 2011, states his approach succinctly: “I defend liberty and explain every vote here.” The simple formula has turned the libertarian, who rode into the House on the tea party wave, into something of a sensation. In 2012, the Independent Voter Network called Amash the “coolest member of Congress.” Amash’s latest decision — to state publicly that President Trump engaged in activity...

Vermont’s Republican governor Phil Scott suggested he could support former Massachusetts Gov. New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio is expected to announce he’s running for president next week. Three sources with knowledge of the plans told the New York Daily News the announcement could come Wednesday, on de Blasio’s birthday. “He's moving forward; he thinks this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. He's looking at the current field and thinks there's no other time when he can run. He has a record and has been an underdog in primaries before,” a source close to de Blasio told the Washington Examiner in late April.

What the hell? The commentariat had collectively decided that this week would be “Joe Biden Flop Sweat Week,†when he jumped into the race and his polls immediately began to crash when everyone was reminded that he’s a gaffe machine with all sorts of unabsolved sins against wokeness on his record.Instead it’s turning into “Bernie Sanders Flop Sweat Week.â€In fact, I don’t know if the lead story from this Quinnipiac data is Biden’s big, bouncy lead or Bernie’s ominous fade into third place. Note the nonwhite column too, as that’s very much part of a trend and a not-so-secret...
