Micro-Prepping: Final Call. If you're reading these pages, you know it's coming. You probably also think it's close -- very close.

If a giant solar flare hit the Earth, it could knock out the entire power grid, meaning no more new Taylor Swift singles, no more televised presidential debates, and no more Facebook photos of babies. But it wouldn't be all good news. The Washington Postreports the elecromagnetic pulse—or EMP—created by such an event could wipe out electricity for months on end, creating a global catastrophe. That's why the White House released its National Space Weather Strategy on Thursday. According to the Houston Chronicle, the multiagency plan details how the US will prepare for—and deal with—a massive EMP from space. The six-step plan requires government...

Scott Hunt has no interest in building a bomb out of a paper clip, but as a survivalist prepper, Hunt savors the idea of being somewhat of a MacGyver-type. Thats what I do, says Hunt a professional prepper who is a mentor to the survivalists preparing for the worst on the National Geographic Channel series, Doomsday Preppers. Hunt is among the growing number of Americans who want to thrive when the unexpected happens. We've seen recent natural disasters like Hurricane Katrina on the Gulf Coast, Super Storm Sandy along the Atlantic Seaboard and devastating tornadoes throughout the Central Plains. What...

Toyota makes a great truck, and the diesel Tundra is now at the top of my list. But then I got to (over-)thinking: if you’re going to get a SHTF pickup from them, then there’s a much better option, depending on where you live: the Toyota Hilux truck is popular with Middle Eastern jihadis because of its versatility and reliability. “The Toyota Hilux is everywhere,” Andrew Exum, a former US Army Ranger who is now the US deputy assistant secretary of defense for Middle East policy, told Newsweek. “It’s the vehicular equivalent of the AK-47. It’s ubiquitous to insurgent warfare....

But little did we know that Overstock's Chairman Jonathan Johnson is as vocal an opponent of the fiat system, and Wall Street's tendency to create bubble after bubble, if not more than Byrne himself. That, and that his company actually puts its money where its gold-backed money is and in preparation for the next upcoming crash, has taken unprecedented steps to prepare for what comes next. One week ago Johnson, who is also candidate for Utah governor, spoke at the United Precious Metals Association, or UPMA, which we first profiled a month ago, and which takes advantage of Utah's special...

A collapse is coming… but not as quickly as many are expecting. There are many people high up in the power structure who not only see an end to the dollar coming soon, but an economic collapse that could trigger the death of tens of millions of Americans – rendered vulnerable by the lack of services and the stopping of checks, and harmed by the resulting looting, starvation and violence that is likely to occur. According to an anonymous source who claims to have high level insider sources, everything from the power grid to the grocery store, to the government...

Every Day Carry, or EDC, as the name implies, are the things you carry every day. Car keys, wallet, etc. From a preparedness perspective however, your EDC may be all you have available in an emergency situation or all that you have to help get you home.

If you have not been preparing for what is coming, you need to get off your sofa and you need to start prepping right now. Just remember what happened back in 2008. That crisis took most people totally by surprise. Millions of Americans lost their jobs, and because most of them were living paycheck to paycheck, all of a sudden most of them couldn’t pay the rent or the mortgage either. Large numbers of families that were once living a comfortable middle class lifestyle suddenly found themselves destitute. Well, this coming crisis is going to be even worse by...

The plan seems simple doesn’t it? All you need for the best chance of survival for your family is a well-stocked bug out bag, a keen attention to your surroundings and careful monitoring of what is happening in the news. With these bases covered you will be a very informed prepper and will be able to get the jump on all of the clueless sheeple if something bad happens. You will load your family up with your bags and hike off into the sunset way ahead of the approaching death and destruction. You have a plan to bug out. It...

A man who calls himself Che Bodhi draws a crude map in the dust on the hood of his maroon Volkswagen, a battered car that can run on used vegetable oil. There’s the United States and all its guns to the south, Bodhi says. Highways 401 and 407 are heavily travelled. And St. Catharines and the Niagara Region are a “funnel point.” “North,” he concludes, “is the only way that you can truly disappear.” Bodhi is the organizer of the Annual Preppers Meet, held on a recent weekend on a patch of land near Shelburne, and he knows something about...

Three North Carolina men fearing a government takeover and martial law stockpiled weapons, ammunition and tactical gear while attempting to rig home-made explosives, according to charges announced by the Justice Department on Monday. The men from Gaston County, near Charlotte, were arrested by federal authorities on Saturday after more than a month's investigation. Walter Eugene Litteral, 50, Christopher James Barker, 41, and Christopher Todd Campbell, 30, are accused of stockpiling guns and ammunition, as well as attempting to manufacture pipe bombs and live grenades from military surplus "dummy" grenades, according to the statement by Acting U.S. District Attorney Jill Westmoreland...

In 2011 Rand Paul stood on the floor of Congress and delivered a stark warning to Americans. To criticisms of sensationalism and embellishment, Paul noted that Federal laws on the books characterize those who have guns, seven days worth of food or ammunition in their homes as potential terrorists. Know good and well that some day there could be a government in power that is shipping its citizens off for disagreements… Someone who has guns, someone who has ammunition that is weatherproofed, someone who has more than seven days of food in their house can be considered a potential terrorist....

There are few things to understand if you are forced to kill someone or in if someone is trying to kill you. Most of the people are unaware of them but it is important to understand them. As I said many times before, most people simply did not face real violence before. I mean killing or fighting for life. That’s good because we live in society where those things are not needed. On the other side, from the point of survival if you did not went through serious violence before you lack that experience, you do not really know what...

New scientific models supported by the British governmentÂ’s Foreign Office show that if we donÂ’t change course, in less than three decades industrial civilisation will essentially collapse due to catastrophic food shortages, triggered by a combination of climate change, water scarcity, energy crisis, and political instability. Before you panic, the good news is that the scientists behind the model donÂ’t believe itÂ’s predictive. The model does not account for the reality that people will react to escalating crises by changing behavior and policies. But even so, itÂ’s a sobering wake-up call, which shows that business-as-usual guarantees the end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it: our current...

I am organizing the first annual "Prepper Fest & Survival Expo" in Grand Junction (Western Colorado), July 25th and am in need of some assistance. Specifically, I am seeking presenters who can present on a variety of Prepping, Homesteading, Sustainable Living, and general Survival topics. The presentations will be done in a classroom setting @ the venue, complete with A/V setup and PC/Projector. We will have the equipment necessary to do remote presentations, so this is not necessarily limited to those available to be @ the show. Each presentation should last approximately 45 minutes, and include an additional 15 minute...

The U.S. is seeing a growing number of “preppers” or survivalists who prepare to live for months at a time in the event of a disaster. CCTV America’s Sean Callebs reported this story from Atlanta. (VIDEO-AT-LINK)There are those who believe you have to be prepared now, because the end will come in a flash. A pandemic flue nearly 100 years ago, for example, killed as much as five percent of the global population. Preppers say they’re ready to survive in the worst scenaro. “I had a friend who described it very well as — there’s those who prep because they...

The Case Against Imminent Economic Collapse: “They Can Keep Bailing Things Out for Several More Years Without Fear of Collapse” Joel Skousen February 16th, 2015 Editor’s Note: The following commentary comes to us from Joel Skousen, a well respected geopolitical analyst and Strategic Relocation expert. We see evidence of an impending collapse of the global financial and economic systems on an almost daily basis. From falsified statistics to an almost unfathomable series of never-ending monetary machinations, all signs point to something being horrifically wrong, not just with the economy but the entire global paradigm as it exists today. By all...

About one kilometer from place where he got picked up, the group of people that actually shot him stopped the ambulance on some improvised barricade, first shot the driver and then killed my friend in the back of the ambulance. They killed him little bit slower than driver, and more painfully, they used knives. We got there a bit later, too late. Now this story may sound confusing to you, you may say “it happens in war” but for 95% of folks at that time it was not war, it was something like violent rioting, and those 95% of folks...
