The billionaire creator of Rockstar Energy has listed for sale a property in Utah for $50 million - less than a year after he officially acquired it for $39.4 million. Russ Weiner, 53, founded the drinks company in 2001 but sold it to Pepsi in 2020 for a deal worth more than $4 billion, according to Forbes. This luxurious six-bedroom, 11-bathroom ski house may have been an impulse purchase, however, as Weiner says he hasn't slept a single night there and reportedly said the stunning property was 'better than new'. The 17,500 square-foot house sits on on five acres of...

TRINIDAD – A 13-year-old corgi and her owner were viciously attacked Tuesday Saturday, Oct. 29 by a pack of poodles at Trinidad State Beach. Kathrin Burleson was walking her dog Emma and was with a friend at the beach when a pack of 10 standard poodles jumped out of a car about 50 feet away and ran towards them. Burleson said she reached down to pick up Emma, who was so scared that she wiggled out of her harness. Within seconds, the pack was on top of them. “Then they jumped us,” Burleson said. “We were at the bottom of...

Sen. Ted Cruz is in the doghouse with some critics who blasted him for reportedly leaving his pet pooch, Snowflake, at home amid freezing temps — as he and the rest of the family jetted off to Cancun, Mexico. The Republican lawmaker has claimed in the wake of public outrage that he was merely escorting his pre-teen daughters on their trip with friends — noting that, like millions of his fellow Texans, his family had lost heat and water.

One of my favorite posters on free republic is sod poodle. When he/she posts, I always pause and read the thread, as it is always interesting and humorous. While doing a You Tube search for Ed Montana songs, I came across these two "Sod Poodle" songs, one by Ed Montana and the other by Carson Leverett. Apparently the Sod Poodles are an Amarillo, Texas baseball team. It is good to learn something new on most days. In honor of one of my favorite freepers, here are two Sod Poodle songs, one by Ed Montana, the other by Carson Leverett. Thanks,...

A golden retriever failed to fetch Best In Show at Westminster again. Many Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show watchers were on the edge of their seats Tuesday night when Daniel, a 5-year-old golden from Ligonier, Pa., won the sporting group. It was the first time since 2006 that a golden retriever was advancing to the final round for that coveted blue ribbon to be named top dog. While golden retrievers are consistently among the top three most beloved dog breeds in America (Labrador retrievers have been No. 1, followed by German shepherds for the past several years), the friendly canines...

Vitisak Payalaw and his crew were working on an oil rig 135 miles off the southern coast of Thailand on Friday when they spotted something unexpectedly bobbing in the gentle waves. It was a dog. The animal was fighting his way through the moving water, heading for the oil rig. As he approached the structure, Payalaw, an offshore planner for Chevron Thailand Exploration and Production, held out a pole after the animal had splashed his way to the platform below the rig’s deck. As a video Payalaw posted to his Facebook account shows, the pup was soaked, shivering and too...

A dog discovered some 220km (135 miles) off the coast of Thailand has been rescued by a team of oil rig workers after the exhausted pooch was spotted paddling near a drilling platform. The brown aspin swam towards the workers when they called out to him last Friday afternoon. He was then pulled to safety. It is not clear how the dog became stranded so far out at sea. Some reports suggest he may have fallen from a fishing trawler.

Former U.S. Vice President Al Gore said on Friday that President Donald Trump's rejection of the Paris climate change agreement was fueling, rather than weakening, momentum among environmental activists. "The entire world the next day re-doubled their commitments to the Paris agreement and in the U.S, the governors of our largest states and hundreds of mayors, thousands of business leaders all stood up to fill the gap and said 'We are still in the Paris agreement,'" Gore told Reuters. "I do think that the reaction to Donald Trump is actually driving much more momentum in the climate movement," he added.

Can former vice president Al Gore, who hasn’t been on the ballot in a decade and a half, persuade young voters to back Hillary Clinton by appearing in hurricane-battered South Florida? He and the Democratic presidential nominee will start testing this proposition Tuesday afternoon, when the two appear together at Miami Dade College. The location has plenty of symbolic importance — the area has not only just been battered by Hurricane Matthew, it is also a part of the country most vulnerable to sea-level rise and in the state where Green Party candidate Ralph Nader helped derail Gore’s 2000 presidential...

Yes, I know the Wons rushed off to a couple of Texas fundraisers after the Fort Hood memorial ceremony. What did you expect? BO is the fundraiser-in-chief.And being constantly out there, raising money on the backs of the rich, Democratic 99 percenters, is precisely why Big Guy needs an outlet for all the stress that sort of hypocrisy generates.I’m sure you all remember when Big Guy got hooked on last year’s exercise craze, “Prancersizing.” h/t Looking SpoonNaturally, Lady M resented his cheesing in on her LETS MOVE! scam initiative. So she decided to take the spotlight back by creating a new...

**SNIP** “What specific things are you doing in life to lower your personal carbon footprint? And what is the biggest one specific thing I as an individual can do to reduce mine?” Gore responded by saying, “I use only carbon-free electricity. Have 33 solar panels on my roof, seven deep geothermal wells under my driveway, LED lights and highest-grade energy-saving windows, max insulation, hybrid plug-in car, etc. No fountains, btw. What you can do? Make smart choices for low-carbon options in the marketplace, make sure you divest from carbon-intensive stocks; be a smart and active citizen! Let politicians know the...

First aired on The Sunday Edition (12/5/13) **SNIP** Gore's book isn't all doomsday; he does offer a sense of hope for the future. He says there are other forms of energy that we can use but there are certain obstacles to using them. "The main problem that blocks our pathway to renewable energy is the political and economic power of the legacy industries that depend upon our willingness to continue using the Earth's atmosphere as an open sewer to all of this global warming pollution," he said. He blames a lot of these blockades on politicians and corporations in the...

Civil servants always will have the “American people’s back” despite dysfunctional politics, former Vice President Al Gore told federal employees on Monday. “I have never lost faith in you, the career people who keep this thing going in spite of all curveballs thrown in front of you, the latest being the sequester, well, the latest is -- what’s the date today?” the head of an initiative to reform government during the Clinton administration told a standing room-only crowd of federal employees at the Excellence in Government conference, sponsored by the Government Executive Media Group, in Washington. **SNIP** “Workers know, they...

**SNIP** Gore outlines a conflict in which the "global mind", an educated world population united by the internet, is pitted against Earth Inc, global corporations with no national allegiance, which cannot see past the next quarter, alongside politicians who look no farther than the next set of growth figures. Quarterly capitalism he calls it, which measures profit and forgets to measure consequences like pollution. Jobs are no longer being outsourced abroad, they are being robo-sourced, he says - lost forever to technology. He talks not so much in complete paragraphs as draft chapters, fizzing with ideas and references, from Burma...

Just about every dog owner is convinced their dog is a genius. For a long time, scientists did not take their pronouncements particularly seriously, but new research suggests that canines are indeed quite bright, and in some ways unique. Brian Hare, an associate professor in the Department of Evolutionary Anthropology and the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience at Duke University, is one of the leading figures in the quest to understand what dogs know. The founder of the Duke Canine Cognition Center, Hare has now written a book, “The Genius of Dogs,” with his wife, the journalist Vanessa Woods. Hare answered...

Gore seeks November splash with eventBy Ben Geman - 09/23/12 03:35 PM ET Al Gore hopes to show links between climate change and the effects of extreme weather worldwide with an online and social media-fueled event built around the idea of “dirty weather.” Gore’s advocacy group, the Climate Reality Project, announced Sunday that its second multi-media “24 Hours of Reality” event will occur Nov. 14-15 and bear the title “The Dirty Weather Report.” “We are in a new era where the . . . extreme weather that is occurring is not fully caused by the natural cycles of time and...

Minneapolis - When Stacey Champion was caught trying to mail a 4 month-old Poodle puppy via USPS priority mail in January 2011, a spark of outrage was ignited. Thankfully the puppy's presence inside of the sealed box was noticed before he could be shipped to his demise. Had Champion been successful in her attempt, the puppy would have been placed into an unpressurized, un-heated cargo hold where he would have died. But Champion will not be punished for her thoughtless, cruel actions. In fact, according to CBS Minnesota, a judge has dismissed all charges against the woman. Charges were dropped...

In the meantime, the Current TV chief has managed to sidestep a few rumors of affairs and was...
