You're right, of course. But...fat chance.

Academics, unions and politicians will stand firmly and unanimously against your quite reasonable proposals.

I speak as a retired English teacher. Tenure should be abolished; educators need to live or die by the results of their statistics. There are too many entrenched teachers mailing it in. the unions are complicit in the current situation and need to be shown the door. Finally, socialism has no place in the classroom and its practitioners need to be shown the door as well, and permanently barred therefrom. sd

This stuff sounds bizarre, but it also is reality. About six or seven years ago one of my kids had an English teacher in 8th grade who actually handed out a curriculum based on white privilege. I had him transferred to a more sane teacher’s class, because the crap she was spouting was literally insane and not understandable by any rational person. The sad part was, she was the tenured head of the department, so little could be done about her except avoidance.

I am not surprised to hear she was “avant garde” and that there is now actually a teacher’s ed program that formalizes this spew for all of its inductees.
