Malibu, California CNN — Bridget Thompson says she should be dead. If not for a late cheer team meeting on a Tuesday night in October, the Pepperdine University senior would have been with her four best friends — three were her roommates — heading to an off-campus mixer. “I should have been there and I usually would be there,” Thompson said. “I can just picture them in the car on the way there. I know they were listening to music and I know they were singing along.” The girls parked and were walking along the Pacific Coast Highway when prosecutors...

According to flyers at Pepperdine University, opposing the transgender agenda is the equivalent of genocide, comparable to Nazi Germany. In the same week that a transgender shooter killed students and faculty at The Covenant Christian school in Nashville, activists at the college called out those who question trans acceptance. As many news outlets rallied around the transgender community, claiming they were being scapegoated after the attack, institutions including the White House itself celebrated Transgender Day of Visibility on March 31. Despite all this institutional support, activists on campus are claiming that a genocide is on the horizon."Sometime between Mar. 27-28, a...

A NASA intern has discovered a new type of aurora in 3-year-old video footage of the Arctic sky. With the help of NASA scientists and a satellite, Jennifer Briggs, a physics student at Pepperdine University, connected the unusual aurora to a sudden retreat in Earth's magnetic field. It's the first time scientists have seen an aurora caused solely by a compression of Earth's magnetic field. Usually, auroras dance across the sky when a lot of high-energy particles from the sun, called solar wind, flood over Earth. But in this case, the sun didn't show any unusual or heightened activity.

Well, that’s exactly what happened in Malibu at Pepperdine University’s graduation yesterday when a group of Pelicans decided that maybe some of the students weren’t quite ready to graduate and decided to attack them and let their opinion be heard! But thankfully, the graduation security detail (it’s California) couldn’t find the pelican family on the guest list and promptly surrounded them before realizing they had no idea how to actually kick them out… See, this is why I’m glad that it’s hot enough in Tennessee to where we have the common sense to have most of our graduations indoors, away...

Two-Minute Warning by: Daniel Allen, March 06, 2009 At the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC), held February 26th through the 28th, thousands gathered in Washington D.C. to inspire one another and reignite the conservative movement. In order to spark ideas among young conservatives working at the grassroots level, CPAC hosted a panel entitled “Two-Minute Activist: Conservative Victories across the Nation,” featuring 20 conservative activists who had achieved unique victories in their communities through their own efforts. The paths these activists have chosen to spread their ideals vary greatly. Chris Malagisi, President of the Young Conservatives Coalition (YCC), spoke about his...

Pepperdine University President Andrew Benton recently interjected himself into a controversy concerning a commercial in support of California Proposition 8. His ostensible purpose in doing so was to quell a wave of outrage from radical gay activists in California. If anything, his actions will embolden those who prefer intellectual terrorism over civil political discourse as a means of shaping public policy. His actions will also further diminish the reputation of Pepperdine as a conservative Christian university. The controversy began when Law Professor Richard Peterson appeared in the following television ad. President Benton responded with the following: “I want to provide...

Kenneth Starr, former independent counsel and current dean of the Pepperdine University School of Law, outlined a vision for a morally, centered approach to the practice of law on Friday. The keynote speaker in this year’s Carl M. Williams Speaker Series on Law and Ethics, Starr said that law should be driven by the principles of integrity, dignity of all people, civility, excellence and compassion in an hour-long speech in the Yellowstone Ballroom of the University of Wyoming Union. “The culture of ‘right doing’ is thoughtful. It’s deeply analytical but it’s driven by principle and grounded in a moral vision...

MALIBU, Calif. - Kenneth W. Starr, who led the investigation into President Clinton's relationship with Monica Lewinsky, has been named dean of the Pepperdine University School of Law, a school official said. Starr first accepted the position in 1997 ago but changed his mind after he was criticized for abandoning the Whitewater investigation into the Clintons' real estate dealings. The appointment, which was to be officially announced Tuesday, followed a more than six-month national search, said Brad Cheves, the university's vice president for advancement and public affairs. Starr, a longtime guest lecturer at Malibu-based Pepperdine, was acting as independent counsel...
