Well, thats exactly what happened in Malibu at Pepperdine Universitys graduation yesterday when a group of Pelicans decided that maybe some of the students werent quite ready to graduate and decided to attack them and let their opinion be heard! But thankfully, the graduation security detail (its California) couldnt find the pelican family on the guest list and promptly surrounded them before realizing they had no idea how to actually kick them out
See, this is why Im glad that its hot enough in Tennessee to where we have the common sense to have most of our graduations indoors, away from hostile bird formations.

Why does college get out so early? Didn’t spring breaks just end?

Too bad the birds didn’t fly in in tight formation and carpet crap the festivities.

Reminds me of the old limerick:
A wondrous bird is a pelican
His bill can hold more than his belly can
He can hold in his beak
Enough food for a week
But I'll be damned if I know how the hell he can.

They really are, did you happen to notice the little feet drawn on the carpet to show the grads where they should stand when getting their diplomas?
I guess they will need OnStar to get home too.

I remember standing in “tight formation” at morning colors and being “carpet crapped” by seagulls.
That was 53 years ago. It was pretty funny.
I didn’t get hit.

Nature itself rejects them.

That’s where they stood to get their picture taken. With the diploma.
Kind of an L A thing, I guess. Red carpet and all that.

Carpet capping is a pelican specialty, truly a wonder of nature.

a group of Pelicans
hostile bird formations It's actually called a "Squadron of Pelicans" and for good reason.

LOL, I remember my children’s Middle School Graduations and they didn’t even do that for the kids they figured they were smart enough to know where to stand.
But if it was for a picture than I guess I can grudgingly give them the benefit of doubt and the need to get it right.
Poor birds, I hope none were harmed.

I deal with Pelicans and Blue Herons all the time on my dock. They really are not afraid of people and will wait til I get right up on them (and they realize Im going to make them leave) before screaming and taking off. We have one Heron that loves to fish off my swimstep. He just totally ignores me unless I force the issue. I can be sitting in the cockpit and hell walk right by me on the dock to get to my swimstep.
