Donald Trump is unelectable because he is disliked by a large majority of the American population. In contrast, The biggest attack on Ted Cruz lodged by his detractors is that he is loathed inside Washington, especially in the Senate. We know why Trump is disliked by the American public: he is a shallow, unprincipled, insincere, obnoxious, egomaniacal jackass. Here is an example of why Cruz is disliked by Beltway pols: Despite being embroiled in the heat of the most important weeks of this presidential campaign, Cruz sent word to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell that he was placing a hold...

Before Tuesday’s taping with Hillary Rodham Clinton, the executive producers of “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” said that the former first lady had never danced in her previous appearances with Ms. DeGeneres and that they didn’t expect her to when she taped her latest sit-down. But during a commercial break, Ms. DeGeneres’s resident D.J. got Mrs. Clinton clapping her hands and swaying her hips to Ariana Grande. Pink and Amy Schumer joined Ms. DeGeneres and Mrs. Clinton onstage, and they all hugged and waved to a crowd of thousands overflowing around the Rockefeller Center ice skating rink, where Ms. DeGeneres is...

President Obama on Friday will sign a two-month extension of highway funding into law, the White House said. The measure prevents a sudden halt in infrastructure funding that was slated to begin May 31. But White House press secretary Josh Earnest criticized the stopgap bill as a punt and urged Congress to pass a long-term measure to fund road projects. “It’s the president’s view that the era of short-term patches ... must come to an end,” Earnest told reporters. Earnest noted it was the 33rd temporary fix for highway funding since 2008. The uncertainty caused by that approach has led...

US Secretary of State John Kerry on Tuesday responded to Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu's decision to disband the Knesset. Kerry said that whatever government will be formed, he hoped it would be able to "negotiate and move towards resolving differences between Israelis and Palestinians." In April, Kerry's push for peace talks were torpedoed right ahead of their nine-month deadline by the Palestinian Authority (PA), which formed a unity agreement with Hamas after breaching the Oslo Accords by making unilateral moves to join international conventions. The PA has been inciting and praising the recent spree of high-profile terror attacks concentrated in...

The deadline for the talks between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the P5+1 is now less than two days away. As the time nears for either the ability to announce an “historic agreement” about nuclear weapons with Iran or failure on yet another front, there are reports of an alarming shift in the wind blowing out of the west: a growing inclination to allow Iran to avoid admitting “possible military dimensions” (PMD) of its nuclear program in order to have a historic agreement.

~~snip~~ I was curious to see how substantial a demonstration MoveOn could turn out against the hated (on the Left) John Boehner (“We need a big crowd downtown!”). I also wondered how the demonstrators would transport a recliner to the Minneapolis Club, and whether they would be able to get close enough to Boehner to “present” the recliner to him. So I showed up. The demonstration was even weaker than I expected. The local police precinct had told the club’s manager to expect around 200 protesters, based on “chatter.” I counted 16 quiet, dispirited liberals

JAY CARNEY: I remember we had some discussion during 2012 about well, is it appropriate for the president, the sitting president and candidate, to give interviews with Jon Stewart and others. And the answer was yes, again because the young voters we were trying to reach are more likely to watch The Daily Show than some other news shows. But also, I think if you look back at 2012 and the series of interviews the sitting president of the United States gave, probably the toughest interview he had was with Jon Stewart. Probably the most substantive, challenging interview Barack Obama...
