DOVER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ/AP) — Police say a golfer from Ohio has died after being stung at least 20 times by bees as he searched for a ball in woods in northern Michigan. Michigan State Police Sgt. Mark Tamlyn says Darryl Dever of Powell was pronounced dead Wednesday after having trouble breathing. Tamlyn told WWJ Newsradio 950 that Dever and a friend — a doctor — were golfing together at Treetops Resort’s north course when Dever went into the woods to retrieve a ball.

LAX was unable to confirm the incident, but ESPN reported that the woman, who was reportedly sitting two rows in front of coach Wayne Tinkle, was stung before Alaska Airlines flight 567 had taken off. A rapper who worked with members of the group Wu-Tang Clan cut off his penis and jumped from a second floor balcony in an apparent suicide attempt, TMZ reports. Andre Johnson was found on the sidewalk outside an apartment building in West Hollywood at 1:00 am on Wednesday morning and taken to Cedars-Sinai hospital in critical condition. A surfer in Australia was airlifted to hospital Monday after a dolphin slammed into him as he was riding a wave at a remote beach. The 27-year-old man was on his body board, or boogie board, at Bawley Point, 250 kilometres (155 miles) south of Sydney, when the collision occurred. "He has come over a wave and as he did so, a dolphin has come through and hit him in the pelvic area," New South Wales Ambulance duty operations manager Wayne Dunlop said.

A surgeon has been suspended after allegedly branding his initials into a transplant patient's liver. Consultant Simon Bramhall, 48, is accused of burning 'SB' onto a patient's liver as he operated on him. The letters were spotted by a colleague during routine surgery on the unnamed patient. It is now feared the letters may have been imprinted onto hundreds of other transplant recipients.

A man has had to have emergency surgery to reattach his lip after a woman bit it off during a fight at Germany's annual beer festival Oktoberfest. Hong Kong (CNN) -- At least 19 people have been stung to death by hornets -- which may include the world's largest hornet species Vespa mandarinia -- in China's central Shaanxi province in the last three months, according to the city government of Ankang, the apparent epicenter of a recent spate of fatalities and injuries. A total of 583 people in the area have been stung by hornets since July 1, say city officials. Seventy victims are still recovering in hospitals.
