VATICAN CITY — The Vatican’s Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue on Friday sent a message to the Muslim world, as they observe the month of Ramadan and approach the feast of ‘Id al-Fitr. The message, signed by French cardinal His Eminence Jean-Louis Tauran, President of the Pontifical Council for Interreligious Dialogue, is called: Christians and Muslims: Beneficiaries and Instruments of Divine Mercy. Christians and Muslims: Beneficiaries and Instruments of Divine Mercy Dear Muslim brothers and sisters, 1. The month of Ramadan and ‘Id al-Fitr is an important religious event for Muslims around the world, focused on fasting, prayer and good...

I thought Christians were supposed to pray to God. When did they become Islamic? I'm quitting my local Presbyterian church for sure. This was announced in the latest Presbyterian Church USA, 'The Layman', their internet news letter.

You have come through the eye of the needle into Kingdom Come , Zion lays before you blessed daughters and sons, So now the "real awakening begins", Truly you ARE worthy free from all sins, Look you are dressed in righteousness for you wear my gown, I have bestowed on you and a clean turban as your crown, Your feet shine at the mention of My WORD, For Now they Know it IS the Path of Righteousness they have heard, Holy ! For many, there is a deep-seated political hatred, racism, and bigotry hidden behind the guise of Christianity. And I’m tired of keeping quiet. As a person born into it, baptized into it—I went every Sunday morning and every Sunday night, and if my mother finished worked early enough, I even went on Wednesday evenings—I should know. I’m not typically one to get into social media arguments or spend hours discussing political and religious discourse on a Facebook strand, but recently, one woman drove me to the point of no return. Of course, it began with: Trump vs No Trump. As...

When all else fails, abortion activists often resort to the old “pro-lifers are forcing their religion on us” argument to push their agenda. That is what a group of Indiana University student editors used to attack a new state law that protects the dignity of unborn babies by requiring that aborted babies’ bodies be buried or cremated. The new law will help stop the kind of sale of aborted babies’ body parts that Planned Parenthood facilities in other states have been caught arranging. Although Roe v. Wade prohibits states from completely banning abortions, pro-life advocates in Indiana believe the aborted...

Faith vs. works. Â Christians have debated this topic for two thousand years and still do. Â At the heart of the debate you have two (seemingly) opposing sides: Team Faith says works are not required for salvation. Â Salvation is received by grace through faith alone (John 6:28-29, Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 4:5, Romans 11:6, Galatians 2:21). Â They believe that making works a requirement for salvation ignores the very message of the Gospel that Jesus died for our sins and rose again (1 Corinthians 15:1-4), which the Apostle Paul calls "of first importance." Â This is Christianity 101. Â If Jesus died for your...

Why Does Jesus Call the Father Greater If We Teach That the Members of the Trinity Are Equal? Msgr. Charles Pope • May 23, 2016 • Many of you know that I write the Question and Answer column for Our Sunday Visitor. Given the celebration of Trinity Sunday this past Sunday, I thought I might reproduce here on the blog a question/answer regarding the Trinity. It is a fairly common question; perhaps you have it, too. Remember that my answers in the column are required to be brief. We read in a recent Sunday Gospel (May 1, 2016) that Jesus...

These are some of the most common lies that many Christians have fallen victim to. Â I hear many of these quite frequently and in years past have even fallen for some of them myself. Â The enemy has used each of these lies to sow great discord, apathy, and fear in the Body of Christ. Â It's time to dispel them all. 1. "I must do _____ to be saved or keep doing _____ to stay saved." This is what virtually every religion teaches, but not true Christianity. Â Unsurprisingly, every "Christian" cult teaches this as well. Â The very definition of...

The Catholic Church leader called for "building" the Christian-Islamic dialogue with patience: "The work that they do, is a work of building." The Royal Institute for Interfaith Studies, was the initiator of the letter of 138 Muslim representatives in 2007. It was written in response to the famous Regensburg speech of Benedict XVI. Pope Francis: "In a meeting like this dialogue is the operative word. And dialogue means to come out - with the word and with yourself. To say his word and hear the word of the other. Two words come together there, two thoughts. This is the first...

Social media has enabled communication between friends like never before. It’s also enabled lies to be spread (and debunked more quickly) than ever before. The lies Mormons tell are typically hold-overs from before Snopes was invented, and most Mormons may not realize they are lying, or simply justify the lie because the church is too good and you, their neighbor, would “make such a good member!” Next time a member sends you one of these lies, feel free to send them a link to this list. Also, to you members, before your blood begins to boil on my definition of...

The late music icon Prince rarely spoke about his personal faith, but he did open up about his religious beliefs seven years ago and why he didn't vote for President Obama. Although Prince didn't publicly share much about his religion, he was a practicing Jehovah's Witness, and confirmed such with TV host Tavis Smiley during a 2009 interview. When Prince told Smiley that he didn't vote in political elections, the singer explained saying, "The reason why is that I'm one of the Jehovah's Witnesses and we've never voted. That's not to say I don't think … President Obama is a...

“Covenant College has elected to forfeit the Women’s Tennis USA South Conference championship match, scheduled for April 17, 2016. The championship match takes place on a Sunday, and as an institution owned and operated by the Presbyterian Church in America we observe the Sabbath by not competing in athletic events on Sunday. This conviction is clearly stated in our Student Handbook and is informed by the Bible, the Westminster Confession of Faith, and the PCA Book of Church Order. In national tournaments, the NCAA makes accommodations for institutions that do not compete on a particular day for religious reasons. Bylaw...

In a hearing that dealt with polygamy and child sex abuse as much as alleged food stamp fraud, a federal judge Wednesday considered whether Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Bishop Lyle Jeffs should remain in jail until his trial. U.S. District Judge Ted Stewart is expected to issue a ruling later Wednesday or perhaps later this week. Prosecutors want Jeffs, 56, to remain in jail, where he has been held since indictments against 11 FLDS members were unsealed Feb. 23. Jeffs' lawyer, Kathryn Nester, asked Stewart to release her client to a home his family or supporters...

SALT LAKE CITY, Utah — A decade after the arrest of polygamous prophet Warren Jeffs, insiders say his church has literally become a place of feast or famine, of haves and have-nots. Prison has done little to loosen Jeffs’ hold on many of his followers, even if he is now a convicted child-sex offender serving a life sentence. They still await his revelations and follow his directives, both difficult and bizarre. But some members are leaving the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints — and disobeying their prophet’s longstanding orders to avoid law enforcement and “answer them nothing.”...

A real good man who was on my staff in Iraq, an Iraqi national, left the country recently. He received repeated threats from local Al Qaeda and later ISIS for helping the US Army during OIF. There was always something special about this guy and we shared a bond of friendship that still endures. I believe the Lord put him on my heart for prayer and salvation. He made it to Sweden about eight months ago and is awaiting a ruling for asylum as a refugee. My prayers continued. Today I received what I thought was the answer to that...

My name is more prominent than understanding for before all things ((( (( ( "I AM" ) )) ))) and I became The Foundation for all I created and it is in my wisdom the very heavenlies rest, as my knowledge reveals their place of rest as my understanding is the tongue and spirit as a thread and needle led by my love to hold all these things together and so it is that I have created a gown of protection and warmth for my church and Bride drawn and sewn from my light for this pleases The Father of...
