A new voter survey conducted for Fox 12 and Oregon Public Broadcasting shows ... According to the results from DHM Research, if the primary vote tallies match typical numbers, Clinton could beat Sanders by 15 percent. Though gender seems to play little role in voter preference, voters are split by age when it comes to candidate support. In voters older than 45, Clinton sees twice the support of Sanders, but in those younger than 45, the Vermont senator has three times the support as the former secretary of state. Clinton is also polling stronger with those who vote more frequently,...

HOOD RIVER, Ore. (KATU) - The view from the Belmont Drive Missionary Baptist Church is beautiful, but many say the messages outside the church are downright ugly. The reader board now displays two messages. The first reads, "Wake up Christians. Allah is not our God. Muhammad not greater than Jesus." The second says, "Only the Bible is God's word. 'Holy book.' Koran is just another book." "I literally had to stop and back up and make sure I saw what I saw, and I was profoundly offended and upset by it," Eric Cohn said. [Snip] "I was really annoyed...

Expecting the peaceful pastor to cave, they were shocked and enraged when he not only refused to remove it, but offered the perfect response. Belmont Drive Missionary Baptist Church in Oregon has caused a disturbing stir in self-important hypocrites who believe that Islam is a supreme religion that should never be criticized. The church in Hood River has caused the thought police to sound the alarm on bigotry, proving their own intolerance. WSBT rushed to the scene of a political correctness crime, in which the Baptist church displayed a message on their sign declaring, “Wake up Christians. Allah is not...

Participants were “smudged,” meaning the smoke from the sweetgrass was wafted over them before they could enter the sacred circle and begin a Wiccan ritual to support Sanders ahead of Oregon’s primary on Tuesday. “Welcome to the ‘Feeling the Bern ritual,’” Leigha Lafleur, 41, told the gathering as she prepared to lead them in the “amplification of positive energy of Bernie Sanders and the progressive movement.”

A recall petition has been filed against Harney County commissioner Steve Grasty in the aftermath of the 41-day takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge by armed militants earlier this year. Petitioners say they gathered 566 signatures, the Oregon Secretary of State's Office reported Thursday. The valid signatures of 444 active registered Hareny County voters are needed to force a recall election or compel his resignation. Grasty is the County Court judge--not a judge in the traditional sense, but essentially chairman of the county commission. If the petition is validated, Grasty will have to resign or submit a "statement of...

Scott Willingham, who was part of the security team during the takeover of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge, pleaded guilty Thursday to stealing government property. Willingham was accused of taking or converting government-owned cameras for his own use. He faced two counts of theft of government property but entered a guilty plea in federal court in Portland to one count. The other was dismissed. Willingham hasn't been charged in the larger conspiracy case stemming from the Jan. 2 refuge takeover, but is the 27th person to face federal indictment in the 41-day occupation of the wildlife sanctuary outside Burns. He's...

A group of Domino’s Pizza workers in Oregon helped save a man’s life over the weekend, police said. When the employees didn’t hear from one of their regular customers for several days, they sent one of their drivers, Tracey Hamblen, to check on him. According to KATU, the man didn’t answer the door, but the lights and television were on. That’s when Hamblen called 911. When deputies responded to the man’s home, they heard someone calling for help. They found the man on the ground and in need of medical attention. He’s now in stable condition. A manager said the...

...this notion that is once again becoming central to local politics in the Pacific north-west. Throughout the region, people whose ideas about land management broadly align with Rice and the now infamous Bundy clan are aiming for elected office in cities, counties and even the state houses.

“We have what we need to stay in business right here,” Jones says, pointing to the lush pine and cedar forests that surround this town of 1,800 people on the northwest slope of the Siskiyou mountain range. “But we can't get out there to cut it down because one agency won't talk to another one, or the environmentalists tie it up in court.” Then a series of environmental lawsuits in the 1980s and early 1990s brought new federal restrictions on logging from public lands. To keep timber-dependent counties afloat, the federal government offered money to replace the taxes they lost,...

It looks as though California will be considering a measure this November to legalize the recreational use of marijuana by adults over the age of 21. If the ballot measure actually makes the ballot, both California and Maine may soon be joining Oregon, Washington, Colorado, Alaska, and the District of Columbia as states where it's completely legal to toke up. To make the ballot, organizers had to garner more than 365,880 signatures. According to the coalition behind the ballot initiative, over 600,000 people have signed in support. Supporters of the measure include Lt. Gov. Gavin Newsome (D) and Facebook president...

Leviticus 22:25 Neither from a stranger's hand shall ye offer the bread of your God of any of these; because their corruptionis in them, and blemishes be in them: they shall not be accepted for you. For Donald Trump to fly out to America’s outback to give a speech tells what type of man he is. He is a man of his word and he told people he would be here so he flew six hours from Omaha of all places to give a speech that exhausted the crowd while he still looked fresh after going over an hour with...

Tubular microtunnels believed to be the trace fossils formed by microbes inhabiting volcanic rock interiors have only been reported in oceanic and subglacial settings. This is the first observation of such features in basaltic volcanic glass erupted in a continental lake environment, the Fort Rock volcanic field. As a result, the record of subsurface microbial activity in the form of endolithic microborings is prospectively expanded. Our understanding of the range of environments and conditions that microtunnels can form in is enhanced along with our knowledge of potentially habitable environments on Earth and beyond. The Fort Rock volcanic field has analogous...

Well, so much for suspense. The networks called Indiana for Donald Trump about five seconds after the polls closed, and within two hours Ted Cruz announced he was suspending his campaign. Trump is winning a majority of the vote and will likely win all 57 delegates. Even if a few delegates stray back across the line, this win clinched the nomination for Trump. He will now have well over 1,000 bound delegates, which is less than 200 from what he needs to make it a lock. And that's without the unbound delegates he definitely has in Pennsylvania and is sure...

PORTLAND, Ore. — Gov. John Kasich was helping his wife carry some clothes to the basement of their home in Ohio on Wednesday when they broached the subject that many Republicans have been wondering about. Should he continue his presidential campaign? After all, Mr. Kasich has not won a single state aside from Ohio. He has fewer delegates than Senator Marco Rubio of Florida, who ended his own bid more than a month ago. And on Tuesday, Mr. Kasich even lost to Donald J. Trump in McKees Rocks, the Pennsylvania community where he grew up. “I said, ‘What do you...
