On May 20 a gun rights advocate who made a name for himself by interrupting Mark Kelly's gun control speech before the Oregon legislature won the GOP primary to run for the Oregon legislature. The gun rights advocate, Casey Runyan, "interrupted a hearing where Kelly, the husband of former Arizona Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, testified in support of [expanded background checks]." The expanded background checks never reached a floor vote and now Runyan is running for Congress. According to Oregonlive.com, Runyan won the primary by 14 votes. Narrowly beating out Jason Payne, "the Coos County Republican Chairman." The margin of victory...

Memorial Day weekend is starting off on a bad note for residents of Portland, Oregon, after the Water Bureau issued a boil notice covering the entire city on Friday. The warning was issued after employees at the Water Bureau detected the presence of E. coli bacteria in three separate water tests performed on each of the past three days, indicating that the water supply had been contaminated by feces. The Oregon Health Authority advised that the notice be given city-wide. Also affected are Portland’s wholesale customers, who receive their water from the Bull Run Watershed. The Bureau advises that affected...

PORTLAND (CNN) — A boil water order has been issued for the entire city of Portland. In three separate repeat water samples from May 20 to May 23, the presence of total coliform and E. coli was confirmed in routine drinking water. Until further notice, all Portland Water Bureau customers and those in the affected areas should boil all tap water used for drinking, food prep, tooth brushing and ice for at least one minute. Any ice or beverages prepared with unboiled tap water on or after May 20 should be thrown out. The water samples that tested positive for...

The lack of ObamaCare accountability extends farther than just the boundaries of the Beltway. In fact, as The Oregonian discovers, it goes from sea to shining sea. The reviled director of Cover Oregon, whose failed web portal has prompted a federal investigation into potential fraud, supposedly resigned his post and got kicked out of his government sinecure. It turns out that he’s just on an extended vacation (via Drudge Report): Bruce Goldberg, the respected, long-time director of the Oregon Health Authority, offered to resign on March 18. Two days later, with the Cover Oregon tech mess going from bad...

CNN’s Chief Political Analyst Gloria Borger argued on Tuesday that the “war on women” is actually tenable politics. At least, it is when Democrats are that war’s prosecutors. In a discussion regarding the uncovering of Oregon Republican U.S. Senate candidate Monica Wehby’s police records pertaining to past domestic disputes – records which were reportedly dug up by the state’s Democratic Party — Borger said that the Beaver State’s Democrats were merely playing smart politics. The surest way to make a female candidate toxic to persuadable voters, she said, is to portray that candidate as a basket case. “What do you...

Yes, you heard that right. The tea party is (still) winning, even during and after this year’s 2014 Republican primary season. The tea party is not a political party. It never has been. The tea party never set as its goal defeating every single incumbent Republican officeholder. The fact that the tea party has taken the scalps of about 50 House Democrats in the 2010 election and several giants in the Republican establishment during 2010 and 2012 is a bonus. That is far in excess of what the tea party movement ever expected to accomplish. The tea party movement was...

Marquise Rashad Harris-Hill was arraigned Monday on a five count grand jury indictment that charges him with first-degree criminal mistreatment, third-degree assault, unlawful application of a controlled substance to the body of another person, unlawfully causing another person to ingest a controlled substance and unlawful delivery of marijuana to a minor. Fairview police confirmed the arrest that happened Thursday May 8, 2014 in the 2700 block of Northeast 205th Avenue. According to a probable cause affidavit filed in Multnomah County Circuit Court, an anonymous caller...

The governor's office says federal prosecutors have subpoenaed state records for a grand jury investigation of the troubled Cover Oregon health insurance website. The state abandoned its plans for an independent site after it didn't work. They decided to switch to the federal portal, the first state to do so. The governor's office released subpoenas Tuesday issued by the U.S. attorney's office. They demand records of communications between state officials involved in developing the website, five of whom have resigned.

Sovereign Lord is on me, because the Lord has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners, Isiah 61:1 As a proud homophobe it is time to speak out about the thuggish tactics the Lavender Nazis have decided to take. They have parlayed their special victim status into army intent on destroying the moral foundation of America. by Gina Cassini | Top Right NewsDo you remember playing “hangman” as a child? Me too. But apparently no one among the staff of Beaverton Junior High School in Oreon ever has. Or they are so hysterical as a result of politically correct indoctrination that they have lost their collective minds: The school suspended a 13-year-old student and turned him over to police because of a “doodle” he drew showing a person being hanged, as part of the game 'Hangman', his father claims in court.

A large number of people who've signed up for private health insurers through the Cover Oregon health insurance exchange have not paid their first month's premiums, meaning they are at risk of going without coverage through November. "I've already had clients not pay and lose their coverage," says Lisa Lettenmaier, who owns the health insurance brokerage Health Source NW in Tigard. "It's imperative for people to pay their premiums on time." More than 81,000 people went through through Cover Oregon – either through paper or electronic applications—to select a private health plan. Of those, 5,000 have already cancelled policies or...

U.S. District Judge Michael McShane this morning denied the National Organization for Marriage legal standing to intervene in a case examining the legality of Oregon’s same-sex marriage ban. McShane made his ruling from the bench after short oral arguments, but he did not give any indication about when he might rule in the overall case. McShane said that the Washington D.C.-based advocacy group was “untimely” in seeking to intervene in the case only late last month, and had presented “no credible reason” for not filing earlier. The National Organization for Marriage sought to intervene on behalf of unnamed Oregonians, including...
