There will be no medal for American skier Lindsey Vonn in the Olympic super-G at the Pyeongchang Games. She had a fast run going before a mistake near the bottom cost her valuable time. Tina Weirather of Liechtenstein leads after the opening eight racers. Vonn will have another chance in the downhill. At age 33, she is trying to become the oldest woman to win an Olympic Alpine medal. She won bronze in the super-G at the 2010 Vancouver Games — to go with her downhill gold — but missed the 2014 Sochi Olympics after surgery on her right knee.

Team USA has a total of eight medals so far at the XXIII Winter Games, but another gold in slalom for Mikaela Shiffrin was not destined to be one of them last night in NBC’s primetime coverage, as the network hit a new 2018 low in the ratings.

Jimmy Kimmel taunts Kim Jong Un by having his audience imitate North Korean cheerleaders Olympic fever is everywhere, including late-night television. Jimmy Kimmel lamented that he couldn’t legally show any clips from any actual events on his show Monday night, but that didn’t keep him from gushing about the international sporting affair. But his focus was not on the athletes. “The stars of the Olympics so far are the cheerleaders from North Korea,” the “Jimmy Kimmel Live” host declared, referring to the cheerleading “army” Kim Jong Un sent as part of the North Korean delegation to the Games. While Kimmel...

Vice President Pence said Wednesday that he deliberately ignored North Korean leader Kim Jong-un’s sister last week in order to send “a very clear message” during the Winter Olympics opening ceremonies. Mr. Pence and his wife were photographed standing just a few feet from Kim Yo-jong on Friday amid heightened tensions between the U.S. and the dictatorial regime. Asked during an Axios event in Washington whether he gave any consideration to greeting Ms. Kim, the vice president responded, “I did not.”
  • Coverage of Olympics, North Korea and Trump budget show national media’s liberal bias

    Las Vegas Review-Journal ^ | 2/13/2018 | Victor Joecks
The past five days show why conservatives are right to loathe the liberal bias of the national mainstream media. It started with the Olympics. Vice President Mike Pence was in South Korea for the opening ceremonies, which Kim Yo Jong, the sister of North Korean dictator Kim Jong un, also attended. Her presence triggered swooning from liberal outlets. “Kim Jong-un’s sister turns on the charm, taking Pence’s spotlight,” declared a New York Times headline. That charm consisted of her “sphinx-like smile” and “the sprinkle of freckles on her cheeks.” The Washington Post said people “marveled at her barely there makeup”...

NBC's Katie Couric was slammed across social media for saying Dutch successes in Olympic speed skating were because skating is an “important mode of transport” in their country. “It’s probably not a news flash to tell you the Dutch are really, really good at speed skating… ‘Why are they so good?’ you may be asking yourself,” Couric mused during Friday’s opening ceremony. “Because skating is an important mode of transportation in a city like Amsterdam.” She said Amsterdam “has lots of canals that can freeze in winter. So, for as long as the canals have existed, the Dutch have skated...

Alarmingly, norovirus has become an uninvited guest at the Olympics. Five additional cases of norovirus have been reported at the Pyeongchang Olympics. This brings the total of confirmed cases of norovirus to 199 since the beginning of the February. However, authorities say 154 of those affected have recovered and been released from quarantine. Earlier in the Olympics, about 1,200 security workers were sequestered over the fear of norovirus spreading, forcing the military to...

Donald Trump Jr. slammed US Olympic medalist Adam Rippon for the athlete’s criticism of Vice President Mike Pence’s position on gay rights. The president’s eldest son was responding to a report that claimed Rippon — an openly gay figure skater — did not want his Olympic experience to be “about Mike Pence.” “Really?” Trump Jr. retorted. “Then Perhaps you shouldn’t have spent the past few weeks talking about him. I haven’t heard him mention you once???” Rippon, 28, helped the US win a bronze medal in figure skating on Sunday. He has been openly critical of Pence leading the US...

On the same day that Long Beach-born, Korean-American superstar Chloe Kim jumped, flipped and twisted her way to a golden medal in the halfpipe competition of the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, the U.S. Senate barreled ahead with a long-awaited debate on the fate of young, unauthorized immigrants in America. Now she and her gold medal are being sucked into the immigration fight unfolding in Congress. Sen. Dick Durbin, D-Illinois, went as far as to bring a victorious photo of Kim to the Senate floor on Tuesday as he shared the immigration story of her father. “Today, all...

America’s most effective advocate of the principle of an armed populace is now officially the liberal media that usually seeks to do the ruling class’s bidding and strip us Normal Americans of that sacred right. But after the media’s bizarre display of eager tongue-bathing of the semi-human savages who run North Korea, any patriot has got to be thinking, “I best load up, because it’s pretty clear what the establishment’s desired end state is.”The New York Times quivered: “Kim Jong-un’s Sister Turns on the Charm, Taking Pence’s Spotlight.”Reuters tingled: “North Korea judged winner of diplomatic gold at Olympics.”And CNN harassed...
  • Olympic crackdown on dog meat fails to banish it from menus

    NBC "News" ^ | February 13, 2018 | by BRUCE HARRISON
GANGNEUNG, South Korea - - Dog meat restaurants are cooking up their traditional specialties despite government pressure and financial incentives aimed at curbing sales during the PyeongChang Olympics. Consuming dog is largely unpopular in modern South Korea and has become increasingly taboo. But "bosingtang" - literally “invigorating stew” made with dog meat - still appears on some menus. But the South Korean government has long known that eating dog is frowned upon by many foreigners. Before the 1988 Seoul Olympics, the government restricted the sale of dog meat in parts of the city. Preparing for an influx of overseas visitors...

Chloe Kim stamped her name on a new era of snowboarding with a run down the halfpipe that, officially, did not mean anything, but to her, meant everything. The Olympic gold medal was already hers but she knew she could do better. So, she cinched on her gloves, cranked up "Motorsport" on her iPod, said "This one's for you Grams" -- a shout-out to her South Korean grandmother, who was watching her in person for the first time -- and dropped into the halfpipe to make history.

Women’s snowboard halfpipe first runs The Winter Olympics continued on Monday and the biggest thing to watch is the women’s snowboarding halfpipe competition. American Chloe Kim, at 17 years old, is the one to watch, and in her very first run, she put down an incredibly dominant score of 93.75, well ahead of the rest of the field. Her run included a signature inverted 540, she nailed a nice indy grap on her final rotation and finished her run with a 720. She was last to go in the first runs, and she easily took first place. Liu Jiayu of...

The Rooskie team is married and the wife keeps screaming like crazy at her husband. I'm afraid she might hit her husband with a rolling pin. The commentators keep saying they need to go to marriage counselling LMAO. The Swiss woman is doing a lot of hollering also. What a ridiculous sport, LOL!

  • TV Ratings for Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony Down 10% from Sochi

With the ratings dip, the news is also not welcome in the halls of NBC’s headquarters since the peacock network paid $963 million for broadcast rights for the Winter Games in PyeongChang. This year’s fee is a 24 percent hike over the $775 million paid for rights to air the 2014 games in Sochi, Russia. NBC is stuck with the deal, though, because it negotiated Olympics broadcast rights through the year 2032 in a reported $7.32 billion agreement. This deal is itself a 16 percent hike over the past $4.38 billion deal NBC wrangled for the previous four games.

RUSH: Lest there be any doubt — and I don’t know how there could be any longer — but if there is any doubt of the relentless, undiluted, sheer hatred for conservatism, for Donald Trump and Mike Pence, all you have to do is look at the media in unison in North Korea trying to make a heroine out of the sister of Kim Jong-un. She is a ranking member of the regime. As such, she oversees the genocide of North Korean citizens, the jailing of political dissidents and so forth. And to call her the hero of the Olympic...
