Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Amy Klobuchar (MN) discussed election security with Jake Tapper on CNN's "State of the Union." According to Klobuchar, President Donald Trump is not serious about protecting future elections from foreign interference. "Are you suggesting Trump wants foreign election interference in 2020?" Tapper asked."First of all, we've had ample evidence that he has not been responding to protect our election security. And you know what? Russia, they didn't use a tank, they didn't use a missile, but they used a computer, and they invaded our democracy all the same," Klobuchar replied. "In the past, he's the word 'meddled.' Well,...

With a determined look in her eye, and loads of cheers from the crowd, she focused on putting one foot in front of the other. This race was a major milestone for her; it was the first she’d complete without the aid of a walker in more than a year. At that point, VanDeraa had been running for a little more than five years, starting after she signed up for that same race back in 2014 with a coworker. Following that, she completed a bunch...

The Senate on Thursday voted to confirm Andrew Wheeler as administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) in a 52-47 mostly party-line vote. Every Democrat voted against Wheeler, while Sen. Susan Collins (Maine) was the only Republican to vote against him. Collins in a statement Wednesday said she would not vote for Wheeler, a former energy lobbyist, because of his track record backing policies that weaken rules protecting are pollution and lowering car emissions. “While Mr. Wheeler is certainly qualified for this position, I have too many concerns with the actions he has taken during his tenure as Acting Administrator...

Meteorologist Mandy Bailey has been fired from Oklahoma’s KWSO 7News — prompting a huge backlash from viewers. Bailey was dismissed just hours after she played a “mind mixer” word game on air, asking viewers to guess the answer to a conundrum showing the word “THERE’ with a hangman’s noose hanging off the letter ‘T’. The answer was “hang in there”, but the game prompted complaints from some viewers who branded it “inappropriate” and linked it to racism.

They’re not just in Oregon. University students from Saudi Arabia have vanished while facing criminal charges here and in at least seven other states as well as Canada — evidence that a growing number of defendants from the wealthy Persian Gulf kingdom have fled justice in the United States. There are likely more to be discovered. The Oregonian/OregonLive uncovered five examples in Oregon and began searching other states in late January. We’ve found similar cases in Montana, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Utah, Washington and Wisconsin. We also found two cases in Nova Scotia: Saudi students in two separate incidents skipped bail...

For a few long minutes, Camille Herron thought her life could end at any moment. Crumpled into a ball while hanging helplessly upside down, Herron was trapped inside of her car, which had flipped over after a rogue driver crashed into her. The driver was later charged. “I thought I was going to die from suffocation. I couldn’t breathe, and I was worried about the car setting on fire because I could smell oil and smoke,” Herron told Runner’s World. “It just smelled like something burning.” The ultrarunner, who recently set the 100-mile world record, was on her way to...

NBC NEWS PUBLISHED a predictably viral story Friday, claiming that “experts who track websites and social media linked to Russia have seen stirrings of a possible campaign of support for Hawaii Democrat Tulsi Gabbard.” But the whole story was a sham: the only “experts” cited by NBC in support of its key claim was the firm, New Knowledge, that just got caught by the New York Times fabricating Russian troll accounts on behalf of the Democratic Party in the Alabama Senate race to manufacture false accusations that the Kremlin was interfering in that election.

In a surprising op-ed, Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI), who has announced she is running for President, called out fellow Democrats for fomenting “religious bigotry†during the confirmation of some of President Trump’s recent judicial nominees. Although she did not call them out by name, Senators Mazie Hirono (D-HI) and Kamala Harris (D-CA) were undoubtedly in Gabbard’s crossfire, as both Democrat Senators recently (and repeatedly) asked Brian Buescher, a nominee to the U.S. District Court in Nebraska, about his affiliation with the Knights of Columbus, a faith-based, service organization that supports the Catholic Church’s historical teaching on marriage, abortion, and human sexuality. With around two...
