John McCain says President Barack Obama is "directly responsible" for the mass shooting in Orlando, Florida, because Obama has allowed the growth of the Islamic State group on his watch. McCain — who lost to Obama in the 2008 presidential election — made the comment to reporters Thursday while Obama was in Orlando visiting with the families of those killed in Sunday's attack and some of the survivors.

ORLANDO, Fla. — President Barack Obama and Vice President Joe Biden are visiting Orlando Thursday to pay tribute to the victims of the deadly nightclub shooting last weekend. Obama will meet with the families of the 49 people killed and 53 injured when gunman Omar Mateen opened fire at the Pulse nightclub early Sunday. Officials said he also plans to visit Amway Center for a prayer vigil.

President Obama spoke to reporters Monday about the terrorist attack on the Pulse nightclub in Orlando and said Omar Mateen had a “Glock which had a lot of clips in it.” Obama also said Mateen had an “assault rifle.” According to CNN, the President explained that Mateen acquired his guns via a background check. And he explained that the background check did not stop Manteen “because he did not have a criminal record that in some ways would prohibit him from purchasing” his weapons.
