According to the Atlantic’s Jeffrey Goldberg, who spent hours interviewing Obama about his foreign policy doctrine, the president “has never believed that terrorism poses a threat to America commensurate with the fear it generates” and “frequently reminds his staff that terrorism takes far fewer lives in America than handguns, car accidents, and falls in bathtubs do.”
That’s right, our commander in chief sees the mass shooting of 49 people in Orlando as akin to a slip in the tub.
In his 2016 State of the Union address, Obama blithely dismissed the Islamic State as “fighters on the back of pickup trucks” who he said, in typical strawman fashion, “do not threaten our national existence.” In a 2015 BBC interview, he said , “If you look at the number of Americans killed since 9/11 by terrorism, it’s less than 100.” In other words, no big deal.
After his anti-Islamic State strategy came under withering criticism following the Brussels terror attacks in March, Obama said “my top priority is to defeat ISIL.” But he has admitted elsewhere that is untrue. Obama has openly declared that climate change is a much higher priority for him than terrorism because “ISIS is not an existential threat to the United States. Climate change is a potential existential threat to the entire world if we don’t do something about it.” Indeed, Goldberg writes, Obama “gets frustrated that terrorism keeps swamping his larger agenda” and “his advisers are fighting a constant rearguard action to keep Obama from placing terrorism in what he considers its ‘proper’ perspective, out of concern that he will seem insensitive to the fears of the American people.”
The “proper” perspective. No wonder the president keeps getting the terrorist threat wrong.

That’s because the press and the American people are giving him a pass. Only 26 percent of the population agreed with trump. Double that agreed with the president. That’s a problem.

So Terrorist are not a huge physical threat to the lives of Americans in the US, but they are a huge threat to our way of life and economy. That is what Asymmetric warfare is all about.
Not calling and identifying what is happening is not recognizing that there is a problem that needs to be solved. If we call things Islamic radical terrorism, then we as a society will address the real problem and its root causes. We will monitor Imams and arrest those that preach Jihad. We will expel non-citizens who want to kill us.

Ya’ know, as I wrote that, a thought again crossed my alleged mind that often nagged me during the 40+ years I’ve spent away from making a living, enjoying my family, boating, going to the beach, etc.: Are these stupid bastards who waved their hand dismissively and smirked when I tried to tell them that we’d wind up in a very bad place if we didn’t pay more attention to our civic affairs WORTH THE EFFORT?
But I always came back to the reality that I was — and my dozens of like-minded friends were — doing this for OUR loved ones. If we succeeded and millions of the disconnected, uninvolved bastards who hadn’t lifted a hand or, worse, were, themselves, part of the problem, were dragged along, so be it.

Not sure its denial. More like outright lying. If Obama’s lips are moving, he’s lying. That’s a virtual certainty.
In fact, Trump has already beat Hillary because he has and continues to beat Obama daily.

It was right at the start of her history of the period, written soon after the Revolution was won.

Now Trump's time has come, and he follows naturally from the hippy era, followed by the reform of the Reagan era, and the wholesale corruption of the Clinton era, to the wimp-dumbass-GOPe nation-building and nebulous worthlessness of the Bush era, to now, when we have a denouement where the Uniparty is revealed to all, in its glory, and the deep abiding rot of all branches of Government is exposed.
The time has come for deep, deep reform, and Trump will deliver.
The other side is just having a few gasps of agonal breathing, as their cause and argument dies away.
I had the same vibe on election eve 1980, when the whole country was just sick and fed up with Wimp Carter and the way we were being jerked around by the Iranians.... and much of the rest of the world, for that matter.
This period has the SAME vibe as that agonal gasp of the leisure-suit-wearing, yellow-ribbon-tying Carterian losers.
