Washington (CNN) - Turkey's downing of a Russian fighter plane shouldn't lead to futher wartime escalation in the region, President Barack Obama insisted at a press conference Tuesday. But he maintained Turkey had a right to defend its airspace and charged that Russian air activity near the Turkey-Syria border has been been an "ongoing problem."

President Obama calls the upcoming climate summit with world leaders in Paris a “powerful rebuke” to Islamic State terrorists who attacked the city earlier this month. “What a powerful rebuke to the terrorists it will be, when the world stands as one and shows that we will not be deterred from building a better future for our children,” Obama marveled, after previewing his attendance at the summit which begins next week in Paris.

A Russian rescue helicopter has been shot down by Syrian rebels while searching for pilots missing after Turkey downed a Russian jet. The helicopter was forced to make an emergency landing in a government-held area in Syria's Latakia province. A Syrian insurgent group, which uses U.S. Tow missiles, said its fighters hit the helicopter with an anti-tank missile. Video footage has emerged online appearing to show the helicopter after it crashed in dense woodland. Plumes of smoke can be seen coming from the aircraft.

President Obama and French President François Hollande promised to increase cooperation and expand attacks against the Islamic State in Syria and Iraq. During a joint press conference with Hollande at the White House, Obama said that the United States and France "owe our freedom to each other." After the Paris attacks, Obama said, "our hearts broke too." "In that stadium, concert hall, restaurants and cafes we see our own," Obama said. "Today we stand with you." Hollande arrived in Washington on Tuesday to talk to Obama about building a more robust international coalition to combat ISIS. Hollande is trying to...

The Pentagon Inspector General has disclosed that emails were sent from Centcom to defense analysts to "toe the line" on ISIS. Analysts at U.S. Central Command were pressured to ease off negative assessments about the Islamic State threat and were even told in an email to "cut it out," Fox News has learned - as an investigation expands into whether intelligence reports were altered to present a more positive picture. Fox News is told by a source close to the CENTCOM analysts that the pressure on them included at least two emails saying they needed to "cut it out" and "toe...

Academia loves to proclaim its concern for the dispossessed but seldom wants to discuss its role in their exploitation. "High-tech companies, university lobbyists, and powerful leaders in both parties have ramped up their plans to import unlimited numbers of legal foreign workers into our country through an alphabet soup of cheap labor visa programs," Michelle Malkin and John Miano allege in their book, Sold Out: How High-Tech Billionaires and Bipartisan Beltway Crapweasels Are Screwing America's Best and Brightest Workers. Malkin and Miano name names too, of people, places and things that make America's immigration system look like something Upton Sinclair...

In preparation for the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday, Oceana on the Potomac wishes to point out that – while there is nothing to worry about - you should be vigilant as you travel through those jam-packed airports this week because there are “a few bad apples” out there. Also, while you’re free to celebrate as you see fit the Ministry of Truth would just like you to keep in mind that Thanksgiving actually commemorates America’s colonial, imperialist, racist, genocidal past. Butt if you white people want to go on pretending that it is a day set aside to thank the Creator...

Wondering which colleges and universities offer degrees that give a bang-for-their-buck? That’s the idea behind the Obama administration’s college scorecard program, released by the Department of Education earlier in the school year. It was supposed to rate all colleges and universities that qualified due to certain criteria, yet there was one glaring omission: Certain higher education institutions did not make the cut. Also, there were no actual ratings in the scorecard. Why the omission? The omitted universities accuse the Obama administration of omitting them from the scorecard because they do not accept federal funding and they are either religious (i.e....

American forces made one of their most effective hits against the Islamic State on Nov. 15, when U.S. planes destroyed 116 tanker trucks used by the terrorist organization to transport the stolen oil that is its financial lifeblood. American A-10 and C-130 warplanes targeted a group of about 300 trucks near Abu Kamal, in Syria. Given that the Islamic State is thought to have just over 1,000 trucks in its entire fleet, the group of 300 represented a huge target for U.S. planes. At a Pentagon news conference last Wednesday, reporters wanted to know why American forces did not take...

TURKISH warplanes have shot down a Russian jet which they claim flew into the country's airspace. The aircraft was shot down after it was warned 10 times in five minutes to leave Turkish airspace, a Turkish military official has said. It was just over the Syrian border in Turkey when it was downed by F16 Fighting Falcon jets belonging to Turkey, the official added. But Russian President Vladimir Putin said the plane was 4km into Syria and had not violated Turkey's airspace as it flew at an altitude of 6,000 metres - and claimed it was shot down from the...

How much damage can he do in his last year in office? Insidiously and inadvertently, Barack Obama is alienating the people and moving the country to the right. If he keeps it up, by 2017 it will be a reactionary nation. But, counterintuitive as it seems, that is fine with Obama: Après nous le déluge. By sheer force of his personality, Obama has managed to lose the Democratic Senate and House. State legislatures and governorships are now predominantly Republican. Obama's own favorable ratings rarely top 45 percent. In his mind, great men, whether Socrates or Jesus, were never appreciated in...

US Defense Watch and other media outlets have been covering the Ranger School records story since late September. Here’s a summary of the story until now: Congressman Steve Russell (R, OK) contacted the Secretary of the Army on September 15, 2015, and requested the Ranger School records for the first two female graduates, Captain Kristen Griest and First Lieutenant Shaye Haver. Russell, a Ranger School graduate, who served 21 years in the Army and earned a Bronze Star with Valor device, was elected to Congress in 2014. He led 1st Battalion, 22nd Infantry Regiment during its deployment to Tikrit, Iraq....

Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) returned to the campaign trail this weekend, making seven stops in New Hampshire with his colleague and preferred presidential candidate, Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.). After the third stop, at an American Legion hall in Hudson, N.H., the two hawkish Republicans sat down for a joint interview about the refugee crisis, the need to send troops to fight the Islamic State, whether the secretary of state should resign, and what the world would look like had voters made McCain president seven years ago. • FIGHTER PILOTS BLAST OBAMA: 75% of their ISIS Targets Get Blocked

(Conservative Post ) U.S. military pilots who have returned from the fight against the Islamic state in Iraq are confirming that they were blocked from dropping 75 percent of their ordnance on terror targets because they could not get clearance to launch a strike, according to a leading member of Congress. Strikes against the Islamic state (also known as ISIS or ISIL) targets are often blocked due to an Obama administration policy to prevent civilian deaths and collateral damage, according to Rep. Ed Royce (R., Calif.), chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee. The policy is being blamed for allowing...

President Obama recently lashed out against the idea of giving preference to Christian refugees, describing it as "shameful." "That's not American. That's not who we are. We don't have religious tests to our compassion," loftily added the American president. Accordingly, the administration is still determined to accept 10,000 more Syrian refugees, almost all of whom will be Muslim, despite the fact that some are ISIS operatives, while many share the ISIS worldview (as explained below).

As millions of Americans prepare to travel for the U.S. Thanksgiving holiday on Thursday, the State Department warned that potential attackers could target private or government interests. "Authorities believe the likelihood of terror attacks will continue as members of (Islamic State) return from Syria and Iraq," it said. "Additionally, there is a continuing threat from unaffiliated persons planning attacks inspired by major terrorist organizations but conducted on an individual basis."

WASHINGTON -- Texas asked the Supreme Court Monday for more time to answer the Obama administration's immigration appeal, a delay that probably would prevent the plan to shield millions of immigrants from deportation from taking effect during Barack Obama's presidency. If the justices agree to the state's request, the administration's plan would miss the court's informal deadline for a decision by the end of June. The plan that Obama unveiled a year ago mainly affects people who are living in the country illegally, but who have children who are U.S. citizens or lawful permanent residents. Unless the court was to...

How could America have twice elected a president who not only can't stand America but also won't perform his constitutional duty of defending it? Even some former administration officials and rank-and-file Democrats are finally recognizing that there is something strange about a commander in chief who declines to listen to his advisers on terrorism, won't read their daily briefings and is uninterested in their threat assessments. It's sad that so many refused to take Obama seriously when he promised to fundamentally transform America. It's inexcusable that the media and so many naive voters believed that his radical past and his...
