The American Psychological Association (APA) effectively declared war on "traditional masculinity" in its newly released rules on how psychologists should deal with men. Acting like masculinity is a disease will only further alienate the men psychologists aim to serve, however. It will also serve to blind psychologists and academics to the good aspects of masculine virtue. In announcing the new guidelines on the APA website, Stephanie Pappas noted that most of the top CEOs, business leaders, and politicians are men, but that men also commit most homicides, are most likely to be victims of violent crime, have a shorter life...

Dear Professor Christine Blasey Ford, Like millions of women, I watched you testify about the worst day of your life. Millions of us identified with your fear and wondered if we would be brave enough to wrestle ourselves past that grip of terror if we were in your shoes. Millions of us watched how you held onto the tears that wanted to come up; we know where that place is in the body — the place that pushes down on the rising tide of remembered pain. We know how hard that is. We’ve been holding onto our tears for a...

On Friday morning, Senator Susan Collins of Maine said that she would declare later that afternoon whether she would confirm or oppose the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. For the women who opposed Judge Kavanaugh, many of whom had traveled to Washington from all over the country, her decision was their last hope. By 2:30 p.m., half an hour before she was due to announce her decision, Collins’s office on the fourth floor of the Dirksen Senate building was filled with protesters, most of them women, and members of the press. The crowd was overflowing into the...

BROOKLYN, Iowa (AP) — The killing of University of Iowa student Mollie Tibbetts has prompted criticism of the U.S. immigration system because the man charged in her death is a Mexican farmworker. But the victim's father told mourners he's been embraced by the local Hispanic community. Speaking Sunday afternoon to more than 1,000 people at a ceremony at his daughter's former high school, Rob Tibbetts didn't directly respond to comments by President Donald Trump and others who quickly seized upon the suspect's citizenship to argue for changes in immigration laws. However, The Des Moines Register reports that Tibbetts said he...

It takes forever to open, probably because it has too many bells and whistles. Now something called "Tasks" has opened and is blocking my inbox and won't go away no matter how many million times I click on the X. Even turning it off didn't help. They should also drop all the little suggestions. Please tell me there's a way to go back to the old version!

Studies of ancient preserved plant remains from a medieval archaeological site in the Pamir Mountains of Uzbekistan have shown that fruits, such as apples, peaches, apricots, and melons, were cultivated in the foothills of Inner Asia. The archaeobotanical study, conducted by Robert Spengler of the Max Planck Institute for the Science of Human History, is among the first systematic analyses of medieval agricultural crops in the heart of the ancient Silk Road. Spengler identified a rich assemblage of fruit and nut crops, showing that many of the crops we are all familiar with today were cultivated along the ancient trade...

The people who built the ancient structure, members of what's called the Natufian culture, struggled in a "hostile environment to gain more energy from their food," said Ehud Weiss, an archaeobotanist at Bar-Ilan University in Israel who was not involved with the study. Archaeologists found the bread remains in sediment samples at a site named Shubayqa 1 in Jordan. The structure was oval with a fireplace in the center, and its builders carefully laid stones into the ground. Arranz Otaegui said she did not know whether the building was a dwelling or had other, perhaps ceremonial, purposes. Sifting through the...

Eating nuts "significantly" boosted the number and health of sperm in young men in a scientific trial, researchers said Wednesday. The findings "support a beneficial role for chronic nut consumption in sperm quality," they said, but stressed the study participants were all healthy, apparently fertile men. The potential benefits of nuts for men struggling with fertility have yet to be probed. For the study, researchers recruited 119 men aged 18-35, who they divided into two groups. One group ate 60 grammes of almonds, hazelnuts, and walnuts daily on top of their usual "western-style" diet, while the second group got no...

Is the foundation of our revolt against the elites – which the liberals and the Fredocons call “Trumpism” because they don’t want to face the fact that Normals are tired of their corruption and incompetence – merely trolling by a bunch of malcontents? True, we do enjoy messing with them. You look at the avatar of the movement, Donald Trump, and he’s the Trollmaster Level XII Emeritus. This guy lays down the smack, and a lot of Americans are delighted by his antics. But is that all this is? Is our movement simply about slamming the people we’re annoyed at and...

Trumps Grammar Letter I read an article about a former grammar teacher who graded a letter from President Trump. The teacher returned it with appropriate comments regarding the grammar. The grammar is the responsibility of the president since he signed it. It doesn’t matter to me if he wrote it or even read it; if he signs it, it is his. For the record this display of poor grammar diminishes my support of President Trump the tiniest amount with my trust he will improve his grammar. After digesting the article I found no mention of the message President Trump intended...
