Max Lucado is a pastor in San Antonio and a bestselling author of 32 books including the most recent Glory Days. In a 2004 piece, Christianity Today dubbed Max Lucado “America’s Pastor,†alluding to his broad appeal to mainstream Americans. Part of that appeal can be attributed to his approach to politics: typically, he stays out of it. He never endorsed or opposed a presidential candidate. Then Trump happened. In a recent blog post, Max Lucado chose to speak out against what he calls Trump’s “antics,†insisting that, “such insensitivities wouldn’t even be acceptable even for a middle school student...

He is the most outspoken candidate in the race for the White House. So its no surprise that old remarks made by presidential hopeful Donald Trump have resurfaced including claims where he said that Princess Diana was 'crazy' but he would have slept with her. During the 1990s, Trump was a regular guest on controversial DJ Howard Stern's radio show, where the pair would often discuss the attractiveness of women.

... "I can see the bumper sticker now: “Vote Trump – Because there are jobs Americans won’t do.†Cruz and Rubio finally landed some blows against Trump in this debate; Rubio’s mockery was especially amusing (and unnerving for Trump), though my man Cruz’s attacks were more serious and grounded. But at this late date, the hits Trump took on his (lack of a) health care plan, tax returns, even Trump University, might not make any difference. But the whole point of his candidacy is that he’s a nationalist, that his first concern is for America and Americans; his (obviously unread)...

Fellow Freepers, Here is the quote from Donald Trump regarding Planned Parenthood tonight. "But millions and millions of women, cervical cancer, breast cancer, are helped by Planned Parenthood. So you can say whatever you want but they have millions of women going through Planned Parenthood that are helped greatly." Questions for discussion: How is this not an endorsement of Planned Parenthood? In your opinion, should we support a candidate who endorses Planned Parenthood in any way, even performing non-abortive services?

At the GOP debate in Houston, Donald Trump pushed back at a claim from Texas Sen. Ted Cruz that Trump was in favor of the United States helping Libyans oust dictator Muammar Gaddafi. "He said I was in favor in Libya," Trump said, sounding perplexed. "I never discussed that subject. I was in favor of Libya? We would be so much better off if Gaddafi would be in charge right now." Oh, Trump discussed it. And thanks to BuzzFeed, we have the video. (All the hat tips to Andrew Kaczynski.) It comes from 2011, on Trump's video blog. "I can't...

Getting under Donald Trump’s skin is about as difficult as finding a rush hour traffic jam on the Long Island Expressway. That doesn’t make The Donald’s published threats against the owners of the Cubs any less odious. And they have nothing to do with whether the Cubs might upend the Mets in a postseason series to which each team has an excellent chance (so far) of going this year.

For the last eight months or so, a significant portion of the Republican party's voters have been in thrall to a bizarre, Occupy-esque conspiracy theory, which holds as its central thesis that sabotage and pusillanimity are the root causes of the Right's recent woes. In this mistaken view, the conservative movement's failure to counter all of the Obama era's excesses is not the product of the crucial democratic and structural factors that prevent any one faction from ushering in substantial change, but of a lack of will or desire. Sure, the advocates of this view will concede, the shutdown of...

Relations between Turkey and Armenia have always been tense, because Turkey refuses to recognize its Ottoman Empire committed a...

Tax Plan. Trump’s tax plan is certainly conservative. He proposes lowering the top tax bracket to 25 percent, drops the capital gains tax to 20 percent, dumps the death tax, and drops the corporate rate to 15 percent. Our analysis finds that the plan would reduce federal revenues by $11.98 trillion over the next decade. However, it also would improve incentives to work and invest, which could increase gross domestic product (GDP) by 11 percent over the long term. That’s different from his past positions on taxes, which include fighting the flat tax and proposing a wealth tax that would...

In his most extensive remarks yet on the 2016 presidential race, Mitt Romney on Tuesday said he shared the feeling of many Americans that Washington has failed them and urged national leaders to take on big problems, including issues that the GOP has rarely put at the fore during the past year, such as climate change, poverty, education and income inequality.

Remember how Donald Trump famously said that he could literally shoot someone and his supporters wouldn't leave him? Well, he's at it again. During a pre-caucus rally in Nevada today, Trump said that "even the really dishonest press" talks a lot about the incredible loyalty of his supporters. CLICK ABOVE LINK FOR THE VIDEO "Sixty-eight percent," Trump said, "would not leave under any circumstance. I think that means even murder, I think it means anything, okay?" He also made sure to tell the people in the room "I love you." Watch above, via Politico.

Back in 1991, a judge found that Trump has conspired with business associates to hire illegal workers and cheat them of their pay: In a ruling released on Thursday, a Federal judge found that Mr. Trump, a group of his associates and a union official conspired to avoid paying pension and welfare-fund contributions by hiring the immigrants to demolish the old Bonwit Teller building on East 57th Street at Fifth Avenue to make way for Trump Tower. Back in 2013, Trump was a big believer in amnesty and in the DREAM program: “You know, the truth is I have a...

Trump will face his three principal opponents in their home-state primaries in the next three weeks. In Texas, part of the Super Tuesday slate, Trump trails Texas Sen. Ted Cruz by 9.3 points in the RealClearPolitics average of polls. In Ohio, the latest poll cited by RCP was released this week and showed Trump ahead of Ohio Gov. John Kasich by five points. Kasich has a high approval rating in his home state and could win the primary if he's still part of the conversation by March 15.Only in Florida among these three states does Trump have a solid lead in...

This afternoon in Sparks Nevada. Donald Trump told voters that all the candidates had left the State of Nevada in the morning, and were unworthy of their support. Here is Trump saying it: It is true that Marco Rubio and John Kasich are not in Nevada for the running of the caucuses. Rubio is in Michigan, and Kasich was in Georgia. But there's a problem for Trump. Trump strongly reacted to the Cruz campaign using a media report in the Iowa Caucuses against Ben Carson, calling Cruz's victory a fraud. This time it was Trump himself saying that Cruz had...

First, Perot spent most of 1992 hammering President Bush over his stewardship of the country. -snip-Secondly, Perot was solely responsible for making the national debt a major issue in 1992. No one really cared about the debt over the course of the ’80s, and had Perot not run,-snip-Finally, Perot siphoned off a lot of Reagan Coalition voters who were displeased with the Bush Administration. Perot’s economic nationalism appealed to Buchananites, who already had one foot outside of the GOP tent given Pat’s run against Bush earlier in the year. Ross’ seeming dismissal of social issues and isolationist stances were attractive...

With Super Tuesday just one week away, Sen. Ted Cruz remains the favorite to win his home state, according to a new poll. Cruz is polling well in Texas. Texas has the most delegates of any March 1 primary state. They are trailed by Sen. Marco Rubio with 15 percent support, followed by Jeb Bush (who has now dropped out of the race) at 6 percent. Gov. John Kasich (R-OH)...

I know enough about why Trump is conservative in many ways and things he has proposed. But I can't find a easy to use and post list of things when people who are against him claim he is not a conservative/republican/ right leaning. These people have gone of the deep end. I thank anyone willing to help.

His campaign's clumsy effort to translate Ben Carson's post-Iowa travel into a Carson concession was unfair, but it likely didn't make much difference and can probably be chalked up to zealousness as much as anything. That "you haven't voted" flyer in Iowa was poorly received, but it was based in sound political research -- and was only sent to a few thousand people who probably wouldn't have voted anyway. Cruz's ads against Trump, quoting Trump's past positions as stated by Trump himself, are fair game, despite Trump's threats to sue. There were late robocalls in South Carolina hammering Donald Trump...
