“Our Country is in Crisis … The Answer is Not Going to Come from Washington, It’s Going to Come from You†THE NRA HAS INVADED NASHVILLE, TN … Welcome NRA, its members and all pro-Second Amendment supporters!!!Maybe there was no greater comment made last night by Sen. Ted Cruz than the following, “Our country is in crisis yet we’re gonna pull back and change the path we’re on, but the answer is not going to come from Washington, it’s going to come from you!!!â€Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) spoke to the NRA faithfully in Nashville, Tennessee at their Annual Meeting last...

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz opened his remarks to National Rifle Association members Friday describing his disgust with the president’s description of the 2010 Fort Hood shooting as “work place violence.” Cruz began Friday at the Army Base in Texas and told the audience that the military personnel who were killed or wounded by Nidal Hassan were finally awarded the purple heart.“It is a time for truth. you cannot win a war on radical Islamic terrorism with a president who is unwilling to utter the words ‘radical Islamic terrorists.’ Instead of a terrorist who boycotts Prime Minister...

Invoking the Battle of Gonzales cry “Come and Take It,†U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz took his case for the presidency to National Rifle Association activists at the organization’s annual spring meeting in Nashville on Friday.“That was the opening battle of the war for Texas independence,†he said of the 1835 skirmish. “And I’ll tell you, we’ve seen in the news, this weekend, Hillary Clinton is announcing for president.â€â€œWell, I’ll tell you, if Hillary Clinton is going to join with Barack Obama and the gun grabbers and come after our guns, then what I say is, come and take it.â€Besides knocking...

Nashville - Speaking from the 144th annual NRA Annual Meetings Friday afternoon, potential GOP presidential candidate Dr. Ben Carson attempted to clarify his stance on the Second Amendment. "For the record let me make it extremely clear that I am extremely pro-Second Amendment and that I would never allow anyone to tamper with that right," Carson said. "We will never let the right to keep and bear arms be removed from those [generations] who follow us in this great nation," he continued.

Nearly every potential Republican presidential contender will be speaking Friday on a single issue: gun rights. As First Draft considered how best to parse their speeches at the National Rifle Association’s Leadership Forum in Nashville, we hit on a bullet-point approach. And yes, that sent us down a gun-pun rabbit hole. (Or was it into a foxhole?) Senator Ted Cruz of Texas addressed the forum. NRA Rating: A+ Guns Owned: Two Bull’s-Eye: Mr. Cruz recalled sending a letter to Harry Reid following the Sandy Hook tragedy promising to “filibuster any legislation that undermines the Second Amendment right to keep and...

NASHVILLE — Before mentioning the National Rifle Association or even firearms at the gun rights group’s annual meeting in Nashville on Friday, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, a Republican, asked all the men and women in the audience who serve or have served in the armed forces to stand so they could be properly thanked. “Freedom. Endowed by our Creator. Defined by our Constitution, but defended each and every day by the men and women who proudly wear the uniform of these United States,” Walker began. He then asked anyone who is serving or has served in the military to stand...

The NRA’s annual convention is coming up. They invited possible/announced 2016 candidates Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL), Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), Scott Walker, and Jeb Bush. Two people they didn’t invite: Chris Christie and Rand Paul. It is not surprising that the New Jersey moderate was not invited. But the lack of an invitation for Paul stands out.The Daily Beast reports that Paul did request an invitation to the convention, but was denied: However, a source with knowledge of Paul’s dealings with the NRA said the claim that he did not request an invitation to the convention was “not true.”Further, the...

The list of politicians appearing at the 2015 NRA annual meeting this weekend illustrates how the NRA has ceased being a gun rights group and has become little more than a puppet organization for the establishment wing of the Republican Party. The NRA-ILA Leadership Forum on Friday will include a number of political insiders with questionable records on guns, like Jeb Bush and Bobby Jindal. Truly pro-freedom legislators like Kentucky Senator Rand Paul and Utah Senator Mike Lee were not invited. This comes after an election year where the NRA endorsed several establishment types (like Mitch McConnell and Thad Cochran)...

As the National Rifle Association’s annual conference hits Nashville this weekend with 70,000 expected attendees, the organization has good reason to be upbeat. For another year, it has succeeded in stalling legislative attempts at moderate gun controls, rolling back existing state regulations and winning media battles. But there’s a looming question that should be seriously concerning the NRA and its supporters: how to reconcile the organization’s agenda with new evidence on the prevalence of gun accidents involving children.

On April 6, Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America mocked the NRA for planning to follow state and local laws regarding gun possession and display at the upcoming NRA Annual Meeting & Exhibits in Nashville. Moms Demand Action did this based on the fact that display guns at vendor’s booths are required to have their firing pins removed. Once Moms Demand Action saw that this was the case, they then mocked the NRA for “being ok with loaded guns on playgrounds and in bars and school, but not at their convention.”

The National Rifle Association wants guns at schools, but not its own annual convention. The NRA has banned working guns from its annual convention this year in Nashville, Tenn., according to a report in The Tennessean. Instead the group will require the thousands of firearms displayed at the event to be nonoperational, with their firing pins removed to ensure safety. The group will use the event, with an expected attendance of 70,000, to boast of its opposition to gun regulation of all kinds, including background checks, as well as to host GOP presidential hopefuls who agree with their stance. However...

It is a very lengthy program, and we're trying to accommodate the 2016 candidates," she said. "So unfortunately there wasn't time to include everyone." The speakers Friday include U.S. Sen. I like most of the policies Cruz is pursuing, but I feel uncomfortable receiving a signed email from him to an email address I only share with family asking for money. What's up with that?

The myriad selection of rifle cartridges today has a metric ton of overlap, duplication, and some downright silly designs. Some of these designs boast wonderful claims, but not all of them measure up. In order to be overrated, you have to be rated at all, so that leaves some of the more obscure designs off the menu. I’m well aware that I’m going to be taking a lot of flak for this article, no matter which cartridges I were to pick, so let me give you some details to start with. When you sit down to make your voodoo doll...
