Penn State head coach James Franklin had a hilarious way of preparing his undefeated Nittany Lions for a road game at Northwestern this Saturday: turning the music down. Yes, you read that right. Franklin told reporters after practice Wednesday that the team has spent time practicing with the music off to prepare for a quieter road atmosphere at Ryan Field in Evanston. Northwestern is averaging just 17,500 fans per game this season, by far the lowest mark in the Big Ten. For reference, Penn State’s Beaver Stadium has a capacity of 106,572, more than six times higher than Northwestern’s average...

READING, Pa. — Pennsylvania overhauled its child sexual abuse laws Tuesday more than a year after a grand jury report showed the cover-up of hundreds of cases of abuse in most of Pennsylvania’s Roman Catholic dioceses over the last seven decades. The central bill signed by Gov. Tom Wolf gives future victims of child sex abuse more time to file lawsuits and to end time limits for police to file criminal charges. The grand jury report spurred several states to change their laws and other states to begin similar investigations.

Central Florida scores the most points at Beaver Stadium by a non-conference foe since Penn State joined Big Ten. STATE COLLEGE — The defense tried everything: man coverage, zone converge, half-man, half-zone, blitzes, zone-blitzes, personnel changes and much guttural screaming. Wasn't enough. "That's one thing I know I can say," Penn State defensive coordinator John Butler said. "We emptied the game plan."

UNIVERSITY PARK — Penn State’s 2013 recruiting class lost one of its commitments on Saturday. New Jersey defensive lineman Greg Webb withdrew his oral pledge to attend Penn State in favor of North Carolina. UNC recruiting sites reported Friday that Webb had reopened his recruiting and planned to visit the Tar Heels’ Chapel Hill campus on Saturday. Webb — a 6-foot-1, 295-pound defensive tackle at Timber Creek High School in Sicklerville, N.J. — indeed visited UNC and committed when his high school teammate Dajuan Drennon also committed to the Tar Heels. A four-star recruit by Rivals.com standards, Webb was one...

The report Penn State trustees commissioned Louis Freeh to do into the Jerry Sandusky scandal and whether there was a cover up at the university will be released Thursday. Former FBI Director Louis Freeh announced today that his report will be published online at 9 a.m., with a press conference at 10 a.m. in Philadelphia. Trustees hired Freeh in November to conduct the investigation, which they have said would be completely independent and unedited. According to the announcement today, the Thursday will be the first time anyone outside of the Freeh investigative team "will in any way receive the report,...

Great field level camera work that shows you what it is actually like to be on the field at the end of a game like that. You hear every sound and see every player chest bump.

Penn State coach Joe Paterno, who turned 81 last week, jokingly dismissed the comments of a Texas A&M yell leader Thursday night that Paterno was “on his death bed” and “someone needs to find him a casket.” But it’s no joking matter to the Aggies, who sent the yell leader home and have issued numerous apologies to various Penn State officials. The remark came at an Alamo Bowl-sponsored pep rally for fans of both schools. Penn State fans booed loudly after the remark from the yell leader, one of five A&M upperclassmen who fill the high-profile spirit role at the...

Taliaferro nearly left paralyzed by tackle as freshman Like 1,100 of his peers, Adam Taliaferro walked across the stage to receive his diploma from Penn State on Saturday. But Adam Taliaferro is unlike his fellow graduates. Four and a half years ago, as a freshman, Taliaferro was left paralyzed and fighting for his life. Taliaferro suffered a severe spinal injury while making a tackle in the Nittany Lions' game against Ohio State on Sept. 23, 2000. Several doctors predicted Taliaferro would never walk again, but just five months after the injury, having undergone spinal-fusion surgery, that's exactly what he did....

By PETE THAMEL Published: May 14, 2005 STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - When Adam Taliaferro walks across a stage to receive his undergraduate degree from Penn State on May 14, his slight limp should hardly be noticeable under his navy-blue graduation gown. The limp is one of the few visible signs remaining from a catastrophic injury that left Taliaferro temporarily paralyzed from the neck down. The crown of Taliaferro's helmet collided with an Ohio State running back's knee in the waning seconds of a Buckeyes rout in Columbus in September 2000. The blow shattered the fifth cervical vertebra in Taliaferro's neck...
